Hey there,

I’ve been away from this game for about a month now and I hear about how everyone is complaining about the hambow warrior, so I wanted to give it a try. I went to a random site and literally copied & pasted the build into PvP and started some hotjoins. I couldn’t believe what was happening… I, a person who has never done anything with the warrior (I play ranger), was able to take on 2-3 (normally 2) players at a time on a point and either won the skirmish or was able to survive till another ally or enemy showed up.

This is ridiculous for the sheer fact that i was just pressing buttons and hoping for the best. I’ve played the ranger for ~500 hours and the warrior no more than 65 hours and it took practice for me to be able to take on multiple opponents at one time on the ranger, whereas i just button-smashed my way to victory with the warrior’s hambow build.

I’m not suggesting to nerf the build into oblivion, because it is a viable build, but at least take away some of the burst damage from this CC/tanky build.

P.S. – sorry if this came off as ranting. In all seriousness, I really am trying to prove a constructive point.

See ya in game,
Arzen

I’ve played the ranger for ~500 hours

A good ranger often (not always) plays similar to a handicapped warrior. I had the exact same experience when I went condition bunker warrior (similar build but with sw.sw/lb) for the first time and steamrolled most randoms in my way. But I suggest you go back to ranger, because your personal skill level actually decreases when playing hambow or the like =P

Oh, I wasn’t intending to stay as warrior, haha. I just wanted to see the hype about the build. It was astounding how easily it was to overpower multiple players at one time. Honestly, I’ve playered all professions, with the exception of Ele and Engi, and the hambow was by far the easiest to use & abuse.

Same story here.

I was getting sick of being lumped into matches with 3 other Thieves and rolled a Hambow to switch to when necessary. Copied and pasted a build from the internet and after 1 hour I felt like I had “mastered” the class.

To be fair though, skill in Guild Wars 2 isn’t very class specific. If you can play one class well, chances are you’ll be decent on all others as well.

Bomb kit engi is a similar story. Had an extra charc slot, made 1, didn’t copy and paste however but I just looked at each individual trait line and picked what I wanted and bam. Havn’t taken it to Tpvp cuz I don’t like being a “T-word” where grownups are meant to be but in hotjoin its a joke. I just dodge and spam condis and they die or they chase me to hell and back and can’t kill me.

There’s no point complaining. Even if they read this, we won’t see anything done for months based on what Allie said about them waiting for the meta.

The reason I say this is that if you can see this after such a short time of play, they must be well aware of it, but their new philosophy of infrequent balance changes means that this is a futile effort.

I used to be a lot more positive about the game and the devs even when I saw cynics like me and drama queens, but all I’m seeing is too little too late now (a failed/disorganized cdi, devs seeming to play favorites, PR over two-way discourse, etc). Sorry to hijack your post, but I agree and just don’t have any hope for change anytime soon. I’ve been playing ranger since launch and I think I’m just going to give in and roll warrior if I continue to play this game.

The problem is that the warrior has everything

Good damage, good mobility, good substain, very good condi clear, immue to damage for a long time, immune to condi for a long time, stablity more often as a guardian, 15 stacks of might because everything is a blast finishre, AE CC, biggest firefield in the game, best heal, OP skills like pin shot, great condis, max HP
