Thief vs. Necro -- Steal > Corrupt boon HOW?
Corrupt boon takes entire stacks. Bountiful Theft only grabs 2 stacks. So, if you steal, you’ll end up with only 2 stacks of might. Also, you are being deliberately misleading by giving a thief the maximum possible benefits for steal, while also not giving the maximum possible benefits for corrupt boon.
im giving the ones that are up to date/realistic/viable.
honestly didnt know that about stacks. though it only applies to might and stability is still prioritezed on both thief boonrips for whatever reason.

1 stack of 2 boons;
Your enemy have 8 stacks of might and protection of 25(?) secs —> BT on your enemy --> Your enemy lost high 8 stacks of might and protection and you get 1 stack of might + protection, both for 5 secs.
Not Might + Might or Reg + Reg

So… a class mechanic traited with more than half of your traitpoints is now compared to a single utility skill?
Don’t know what to say, really.

As a necro i would be more up set how inconsistent the boon removel is. On most boon removel skills of necros, stability seems to have low priority unlike the ones of the other professions. While i can understand that fear from necros can be devastating, all mechanics should work the same (e.g. first in, first out or first in, last out).
Or you could just compare it to Path of Corruption, a very similar setup. One trait to one trait:
Steal 35s CD
Steals two boons (only one application of each) and grants you and your allies those boons plus vigor. Master level trait.
Dark Patch 15s CD
Corrupts two boons. Grandmaster level trait.
Very comparable, both are the same range and teleport to the enemy, both only treat the boons as a single stack (corruptions don’t increase in severity for larger stacks/longer durations), both are tied to profession mechanics and deal with two boons. One is a bit more “selfish” but on a very low CD while the other applies AoE boons but on a longer CD.
The one BIG difference is that thieves get to prioritize stability over all other boons, whereas Path of Corruption, and all Necro corruptions, have stability at the bottom of the list, and in fact many of the boons we want to remove seem to be fairly far down.
That is the one big thing that needs to change, all boon removal skills (corruptions, removal, steal, and anything else) need to have a singular priority system.

Reading comprehension skills are a must. The wiki says that bountiful theft works exactly as I described.

You wrote BT steal two stacks and this is wrong. It steals 2 boons and give max 1 stack of every stolen boon to you, also if your enemy have 15 stacks of might, and no other boon, it will give you not more than 1 stack of might.
That is the different between your and my post

Agree with Bhawb when I heard about the strait I assumed it would prioritize stab. I ask Ren he said it doesn’t and I never bothered to try the trait after that.

Along with Thrill of the Crime it becomes 2 stacks of might, probably what he had in mind.
And yeah, boon removal is quite twisted. For thieves boon steal always goes for the defensive boons first and might goes away last. But it’s possible that it’s intended for thieves to be able to interrupt stomps along with a couple of headshots, an unique role thieves have. Just like eles are able to stun someone with an unbreakable stun for 5 seconds with their ice bow while basilisk venom elite does kitten, or that no one can get really close to the bunkering and team support as guardian can.
Boon corruption is far stronger mechanic wise than boon removal. If you steal someones boons it may be a net 2 for you (1 for you, -1 for them), but they only have to deal with rebuilding their boons, and you only have those boons you stole for so long (you can’t maintain them or you may not even have them for long). Boon corruption is at least a net +2, and often a net +3 (they lose boons, gain conditions -2, often take further damage/deal reduced damage as a consequence -1).

Stealing is the same thing, but through a different mechanic. You steal might, you now do more damage and they do less (just like if it was weakness applied). You steal stability, they now are vulnerable to CC and you aren’t. It is directly comparable, there are some situations where it will benefit you more to steal and others where corruption is better, but overall they are very similar.

You still have to make use of the boons you steal. An example, you steal might and fury, and then get stunned by someone and those boons expire. Obviously you’re not gonna get boon-blocked all the time but stuff like that does happen, where you may have gained boons but can’t leverage that advantage for whatever reason. If you corrupt boons that isn’t an issue, not only does the target lose their boons, they are going to have to deal with conditions right away and you still are free to pound on them.
But yes they are very similar. I just see corruption as being more powerful overall and see why it would be on a longer cool down most the time.

You said that it would remove all 8 stacks of might from an enemy. It does not. It takes only one stack from an enemy. Hence, why it is not comparable to corrupt boon in any sense of potency.

From wiki:
Does not steal “stacks” of the boons; e.g. the enemy has 15 stacks of Might, your character is only going to receive 1 stack of might (unknown which individual might application/duration takes priority); if the enemy is using a boon that stacks duration, such as Protection, and has both a 3s and a 4s application of it (showing as 7 seconds total), your character will only steal the 3s or the 4s application of the boon (unknown which application/duration takes priority), not the full 7s.
In other words, it steals the boon itself, not the applications of said boon, so the target will lose the boon in its entirety, but the thief will only get one stack of itm left overs vanish into thin air
If only each player could determine which Boons to prioritise when using a Boon steal/removal/corruption skill…
It’s only a matter of time before thrill of the crime is complained about. I swear its impossible to take these nerf requests seriously anymore, they’re just grasping for anything they can find no matter how good or bad it is.
You already nerfed disabling shot to oblivion, what else do you want?

“The thief’s ability to wield more then a single 1-handed weapon is just to much along with their totally super god hax damage, the only way for thief to be TRULY balanced is to remove their weapons period!”
I feel that’s the logical conclusion at this rate.
