Turret Engineers in PvP
wrong forum dude. profession balance forum is where you should go to post yet another “nerf the guy who pawnd me” thread. the individual class forms are better suited to if you want to either learn how to play a class/spec or how to beat it. if you dont want to learn to adapt and win and just want to cry nerf you wont get much sympathy here.
You got one-shot by a Turret Bunker Engineer? Are you serious? You can’t be.
Oh, that one, with the trait that makes the Rifle Turret fire rockets and Rocket Turret fire Grenade Barrage.
Not to mention the spawning golem-minion-horde that chased him all around the map with 10k hits and insta-self-rezz.
you forgot the fact he can call interplanetary strike on the guy position and blow up the ocean to

Sounds like the Engi that killed the OP was full turrets using Mortar elite for that one shot kill.
mortar?
Ill be honest seriously a 10 0 30 30 0 turret engy can actualy maintain permanent vigor as well as easily 6+ might stack retaliation protection regeneration and even fury not to mention they grant it to everyone in the direct area. While at first they may not look like hell in a 1 v 1 they have near complete field control along with ultimate like party buffing and they got the CC to finish you off. While they could have been considered a joke back in the day im not so sure we can actualy laugh at them anymore guys. If they put out the crate as well your in for 12 might stack a permanent regen effect as well as a full party running on permanent vigor and that aint no joke.
That’s not OP however because the moment anyone with a decent aoe build jump into the frey poor guy is likely to have all his turret destroyed despite metal plating and self regening turrets upgrades (staff elementalist is an exemple of it) and as such it has about 5 or 7 possible counters including bomb enginers meteor storm elementalist 2h sword guard 2h sword warrior and even to some level bow thieves. That build is far from OP yet it just perform quite well in a Spvp match.
Of course if your team have no AOE user and you have a turret enginer as your foe its very likely unless you swarm him (and god know they are tanky) hes gunna be a serious nuisance the whole match by hampering capture effort.

Actually you forget the other counter to a turret engi, directly applying conditions to the engi and ignoring the turrets. Heck, A Balth Rune condi Engi or Terror Necro will destroy a Turret Engi any day.

full turret engi: yes
EG/turret supporter: nope
I’ve only seen one turret engie be good at playing the spec and even then, I think he’s moved to something else now.
You just have to keep trying to figure out what their weakness is to beat them. If YOU play engie yourself, the best thing to use to fight a turret engie is Elixir U (because the toss elixir U creates a projectile defence) or Flamethrower (which also has a 1second projectile defence and the added ability of knocking people around) and if you are any other class, you can try figuring out which skills can hit through projectile defence (just incase they are using the turret bubble trait) or AoE because that’s pretty good as well.

Find their weakness? You mean AoEs? A turret engie’s got a bit of CC (if they use Rocket, Thumper, and run with a rifle in hand), but if you spend some time taking down their turrets you’re going to find that the fight is a lot easier for 30-40 seconds while they come off cooldown.
Alternatively, you could try to get one or two other players to attack the engie on point. One of you can even be in charge for taking down the turrets, to make the fight easier!
It still come down to 2 or 3 vs 1 him. Again since T engy is a specimen of bunker its no surprise. As far as I know I make lots of kills running that thing in Spvp and unless I get my turret destroyed by a pair of GS guard/warrior I generaly keep them all up at all time. Boon turrets are actualy a serious buff when party actualy help defend a point, Place them down anywhere there is a mass brawl and the whole team just became utherly beefed up.

Yeah, Turret Engineer makes a great bunker or support – so it’s pretty good for sPvP.
I’m actually starting to think that Turrets might need redesigned or replaced entirely, though; they’re in this position where they’re great for sPvP, but rubbish most other places, making them difficult to balance without ending up sending them off the deep end in one direction or the other.

Anet just needs to come off their high horse and finally balance for separate game modes. One set of rules for the ways skills and traits behave for sPvP and one set for everything else. Either that or completely redesigning sPvP to not be conquest mode.
Redesigning sPvP would be favorable, I think – with an objective like ‘hold the point,’ only some builds will be useful, let alone viable.
I proposed an idea that’s sort of like a competitive escort/capture the flag on the sPvP boards, and they seemed to like it…when they weren’t trying to turn it into GvG or just suggesting their own ideas instead of providing feedback. There was certainly a lack of people saying it wouldn’t be fun.
Idea basics: There’s a mobile objective, moving across a network of nodes, that stops from time to time and receives votes from the controlling group for which node to go to next. On the sidelines are artillery placements and NPC-spawning barracks, which can be captured to disable/enable them.
In theory, it would create uses for different types of builds and strategies, without disproportionately rewarding ‘and then I sat on the point for ten minutes.’
