Unholy Sanctuary: failed to improve
Actually it seems that currently it blocks the attack, that would kill you, completly. So a, lets say, 10k hit from a boss that would kill if you are at, lets say, 200 health will only deal 200 damage. No damage overflow to DS
This makes the trait definitly better then before. Though a better base healing and worse scaling would have been better i guess.
Does it only activates automatically when youre at 0 HP? Cuz it did not seemed so when I played PvP…

If you have at least 10% life force and you take a hit -any hit- that would deal more damage than your remaining life, and you are not in death shroud, it will negate the damage and put you in death shroud.
That’s how it seems to work right now. Still, remember the 30 second cooldown.
Unholy sanctuary needs about a 200% buff to the healing it provides. Then it COULD be “ok”. Having conditional regen is just horrendously bad. It isn’t a build around trait at all. Something is going wrong with their testing.
People pick up regen on tiny cooldown weapon skills. And they added a conditional form of this regen as a grandmaster trait.
It just makes no sense whatsoever.
Necromancer/Casual Warrior
[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
its a useless trait and it will always be that way. unless they up the healing by alot.
it even heals less then the 3 points into defence traits of warrior and that is an always on trait and a minor trait.
Btw: It’s Sey-Shi-zo ^.^
To me this trait buff was designed for old, or blind people, as a way to survive battles with horrible reaction times. For those of us that can press F1 fast enough, its meaningless.
I HONESTLY do not understand why the amount of health restored from the trait can’t be equal to that of a warrior’s healing signet (1/3) or even an ele’s SoR procs (1/2). I mean DS isn’t even active all the time!!! WTF FREALZ.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
I’ve been messing around with it lately and I’m actually pleasantly surprised. I’m a lot tougher to kill than I expected to be with 0 healing power and no toughness outside of traits and base. It is a “build around” trait, but there is actually a build I’m working out the kinks on with high sustain thanks to this trait.

While I certainly can understand it’s better than you thought, it is still a bad trait. How it works currently with the block is nicer, but it still doesn’t make this trait good. The healing is laughable considering eles have a 1 point minor that provides 80 healing per second base to allies with no requirements (other than necros not being in Death Shroud). The other effect seems nice at first glance, but without any escapes in DS and the low base healing your just delaying the inevitable by a few seconds at most against good players. This would be great if it was a 1 point minor, but a grandmaster trait that buys you a few seconds is laughable at best.
extra dodges, real stability, mobility skills,
burst skills, sustain, or good support. GG ANET.
Depends how evenly matched you are with your opponent and what you do right before entering death shroud. It needs a lot of build support, but it works rather well. You can’t quite compare it to the ele or warrior traits because while Unholy Sanctuary is healing you, you are not losing health.

That isn’t a good argument, I shouldn’t have to remind you what those two classes gain in exchange for DS. I looked at your build and while I’m sure it can work in wvw (really wish we could get a siphon buff for that awesome zealot’s armor), good players put far too much pressure on you for the trait to be effective (especially considering the investment you have to put in.) Granted I’d be very glad if you could prove me wrong with some video or something.

Right, I know what we trade off for death shroud. Still, the circumstances around US and traits on other professions are different enough that a straight comparison just doesn’t really work.
Ironically, a siphon buff won’t affect my build at all :p
feel horrible for necro players.

I think it would work rather well with bloodmagic builds (e.g. 0/0/6/6/2 build) but too bad that bloodmagic sucks…
So plz Anet allow the siphons to work in DS or/and make siphon builds more viable (e.g. by giving them traits that allow your siphons to heal allies).
Alternatively some number changes would be needed.
I need to test if Unholy Sanctuary prevents fatal fall damage.

It doesn’t.
What I do like though is that we are able to interact/rezz/stomp while we are in DS now, that’s probably the only decent upgrade we had.
