Guild Wars Vet since 05
multi-class all game modes
(edited by J envy.5270)
you got 8 unique classes since release, and here a small info about them.
3 light – ele,necro,mesmer
Ele has access to tons of skills like engi yet few weapons to choose from and have low hp, necro has minions and tons of conditions and high hp, mesmer has alot of invisible skills like thief and very good at 1v1s and medium hp.
3 medium – ranger,thief,engi
Ranger got access to pets and has farthest range since long bows hit farther than 1500 range unintentionally and medium hp, thiefs like mesmers have access to tons of invisible skills and good at 1v1s and low hp, engineers like eles have aaccess to tons of skills but limited access to weapons and medium hp.
2 heavy – war,guardian
Warriors got access to a lot of weapons good dps, well rounded class, high hp base but not as tanky as guardian, guards also got lot of access to weapons tanky but low hp, tons of boons though, also as crappy as spirit weapons are they are still like pets.
So why not have a third heavy class with limited weapon access but have access to a lot of skills like engi and ele, but have medium hp, and possible access stealth although not as much of a ninja as thief or mesmer but since guards and warriors dont have access to them would be nice for is to have one. Also having this class more intuned to range dmg than close up fighting like guards and wars makes it mot different han the two.
i know i know people gonna say….“why add more when they should balance what we have better…blah blah”…this post is not for that…i just want to know if a 3rd heavy class is possible to be incorporated in this game. Short n sweet post.

Thing is, even for the sake of evening the numbers, there is nothing much to expand on, as almost all the Niches are filled…
Thematically you can have like a lot of options such as a “Dark Knight”, “Dervish”, “Paragon” – but none of these can fill a niche within the game, and will only end up with a weird role such as:
Anet tried to condense everything they had from the previous game within this one, and with that, although not entirely the case, effectively filling in all the niches within classes…

Was expecting a 2030 tbh but u seems to be optimist ^^
When moa’s fly.
When zhaitan admits firework phobia

no need to add that’s why they don’t add.
play another games that doesn’t exist =))
I hope not. The devs already have enough work promoting build variety for the existing classes, before even thinking about adding new stuff.
Arbaletmaster with heavy armor!

2005 ?
The answer is chronomancer.
How do you even come up with this stuff ?
Why do you need it ?
Are you a bored pve idiot who has nothing else to complain about cz no endgame?
-all themes are filled and ok
-most want more frequent balance and new weapon/utilty skills added
- 9x classes competing for 5x party and team spots? Just sayin
- BEST OF ALL : ARMOR CLASS IS UNFAIR AND USELESS you have no drawbacks, just +200 free armor
For most balancing its healthpool size and the active defense the arenagods bless your class with. Heavys have most decent looking skins. And finaly,
DO YOU FEEL THE GAME (ANY ASPECT) IS LACKING GUARDS & WARRIS ? YES ANOTHER HEAVY PLZ
Every class in gw2 is unique, for the heavy armor, ive always envisioned it to be different from gurdian and warriors, both of which have access to a lot of weapon sets.
So i think a third heavy armor class with limited weapons to use like an engineer or an elementalist would be original. On top of that maybe using a new unique weapon and maybe having access to one of the least used weapons i game such shortbow(only rangers and thiefs), or rifle(only engi and wars), or mace(guards and wars).
If i was to make a new weapon type it would be knuckles/fist fighting kinda like a monk, but not gw1 monk bcuz that became guardian 2.0(paragon+monk skills in gw1=guardian skills in gw2). Anyway im looking for more like a combo type of class like the monk in diablo 3,monk/champion in ragnarok online(i know thats old),nonetheless this idea would be unique to the other classes, and wont be hard to fit in since this game doesnt use a tank dps heal type of play anyway, as long as one can dps, dodge, and heal themselves there good for any part of the game.
Idk just a thought ive had for over a year, and enough with the chronomancer crap. I dont need a wow death knight rip off class either.
@flumek – AND YES I WANT ANOTHER HEAVY, I DONT CARE ABOUT ALL THE WARRIORS AND GUARDIANS CHARACTERS OUT THERE, PEOPLE PLAY OTHER CLASSES WHATEVER THE REASON MAYBE, BUT HAVING A THIRD HEAVY MAKES IT EQUAL TO THE OTHER TWO ARMOR TYPES. AND BRINGS SOMETHING NEW TO THE GAME, IT WILL FIND ITS NICHE LIKE EVERY CLASS HAS A PARTICULAR NICHE IN THE GAME AND NOT OVERPOWERED AT ALL FACETS OF THE GAME. If you took a minute readin OP i did say idont care about replies like yours, i play wvw and pvp on a daily basis, not all themes are filled, this aint no heals, dps, tank game, adding 1 more class is game breaking that you cant fit it it in a 5man party??? LOL. toughness cant defend against conditions, learn to play bro…before u QQ in forums.

There won’t be a new profession for a long time, if at all. Also, if they do add another profession, there is a slim-to-none chance that it will be another Soldier. I don’t care about, “…but…but…but three of each!”. We don’t need, yet another, high-defense profession running areound in the mix just for the OCDs that feel like there MUST be three of each armor class. That’s not a good reason for shoehorning in another ‘heavy’ profession where there is no need for one.
If anything, it would, most likely, be another Scholar profession as they are much easier to invent/create, thematically and to make unique enough to not feel like a copy/paste of a particular role/flaver/etc that we can already build with any of the other professions.
Another Adventurer might be a SMALL possibility for a new profession but I see an obvious lack of inspiration between the three we currently have already.
A third Soldier is not necessary and would be redundant b/c of our build system. A forth Adventurer would make everyone even more sick of threnchcoats. A fourth Scholar is the most practical option for a new profession (if we do ever get one), and I imagine Anet has already realized these things long ago. Now, if only the posters of all these threads could grasp the concept.
*Bonus: Instead of demanding/requesting/declaring that we need a new Soldier (‘heavy’) profession, sit down and treat yourself to some brainstorming (it’s gonna take a while) to come up with a new ‘heavy’ (or any armor class) that isn’t completely redundant due to our current build system.
Why is everyone so obsessed with having 3 of every armor class? OCD perhaps?
Well i mightve went overboard. For that i can apologize , its not aimed at ur gameplay.
But i just cant see it as anything but a stupid idea.
The main thing again is that armor class plays no actual role, beside being a free buff to G&W.
Okay u have ur 3×3 = 9 equality …wel why not have 10x classes, so its round number ? Will be next stupid question.
A heavy just for sake of being heavy is pretty pointless. A lot better is telling what role none of the proffesions fill and why we need it. Granted, youll at best see it as a new weaponset for a current proffesion, but that way youre having a meaningful argument.
Dragon Knight- The dragon knight offers a different style of play than the Warrior. They have lower defense values, but make up for this disability with high evasion
can take on groups of enemies to make fights easier on teammates
dragon knights wield spears with force, and cover themselves with dragon scales for defense.
Martial Artist /samurai/monk- Having both offensive skills and defensive skills , they can beat down their enemies with an onslaught of attacks. The more times they hit an enemy while under their Charge, the more attack speed and physical attack they gain.
focus on combo moves and breaking through enemies’ resistances.
warlock: uses swords to cast both light and dark magic,
large magic attacks with long cast times resulting in explosive effects
one can dream
why do we need a third heavy? We only got space for 5 people pr group.
If anything, group size increase should come way way way before more classes.
I would like to see a strictly melee 2 handed weapon only heavy class with the ability to use a spear on land and staff would battle staff (physical not magical). Of course would have to have access to lots of gap closers and defense buffs.

spear is not only a “guard” type weapon, but a weapon of choice for hunters and survivalists. In honesty, it is the perfect Ranger 2H weapon, even more “right” then a 2-hander

You forgot ’It’s not off the table.’
Why is everyone so obsessed with having 3 of every armor class? OCD perhaps?
well, apart from that, also because you would get more value from your ascended gear that way, since for the other weights you can potentially use them on 3 classes, and heavy you can only use on 2. Not much, but adds to it.
And I think most people want more variety and like having new things to play with.
I personally think that engineer should’ve been a heavy class (with medium HP), and some other new class should be added to medium.
