Simple really. I don’t see why this would be an issue. Even if you F2, F4, F2, there are still cooldowns for all the skills and I fail to see how Bleed>Swap>Bleed is any different from Bleed>Swap>Poison (for example.)

The thing is, with spiders at least, there are two different spiders that have the exact same skills, just a different appearance, and you can run both. Also with the bleeds you can run eagle and hawke, which again have the exact same skills but different appearances. Also the F2’s shouldn’t share a CD, but maybe because it has the same effect they might? I don’t use pets with the same abilities so I wouldn’t know. I do know however that some “different” pets are only different because of their looks =p

Anet seems to very often take the ‘least effort possible’ route, disregarding potential long-term effects; they probably just don’t have it set up in such a way that it can keep two copies of a pet separate.

Black widow spider also requires HoM points, so it’s an exception in terms of what pets are available. It obviously won’t be available to any non-GW1 players. You can contribute however many negative points you feel that’s worth.

I think the shared cooldown thing is a similar reason why you can’t equip two greatswords with a warrior and do 100b->ww->swap->100b->ww. They don’t want you just chaining the same skills over and over.

The only other reason I think they may prohibit equipping the same pet twice is because you only start the game with a single pet, and gaining a second pet as well as the swapping of pets is something you need to acquire. So they made it so you can’t equip the same pet twice so that you can’t just have one pet and be a “complete” ranger. I dunno, that’s a bit of a stretch, I guess.

Been that way since launch. You got every single pet regardless of pve unlock status.

Yah. I don’t particularly like it despite not having enough HoM points to get them legitimately myself. Evidently it’s for balance reasons, but then the pets share the cooldown of the pet that has the same F2, so…. Not really worth running two immobilize spiders anyway. Why even make the widow available for everyone?

Too confusing for new players. :P

You could always play with the Hyena! In addition to the laughing, it also creates a copy of itself! Take this with Runes if the Ogre to proc a Rock Dog as well! Now get the Elite that summons a Mist Fire Wolf. Yeah that’s it.

You’ll be a regular Cesar Millan in no time.
