We’ve taken a look at some of the new grandmaster traits and improved upon their original implementation

I hope to god this is not going to become this. A little dramatic but all powerful skills have obvious animations.

power block is pretty nice right now (i think, i don’t really play mesmer to know). i’m pretty sure mes has a lot of other traits in need of tweaking.

Nah, power block is completely useless and never taken by anyone. That being said, turning it into blackout would be…pretty crazy.

I was one of the people hyping it, but then you figure out that Harmonious Mantras and Chaotic Interruption is just a better combination.

The issue with that trait it the “bugfix” a few days after implementation that made this skill absolutly useless in PvE and made thieves (our worst nightmare in pvp) immune to it because thief has no cooldowns on weaponskills.

In the first few days good interrupt mesmers were able to counter D/P and S/D thieves through interrupting their important skills. For the DP thief it was heartseeker/black powder so they couldn’t stealth up endlessly. For the S/D thief obviously it was Flanking Strike/Larcenous Strike.
That time we were also able to interrupt through defiant on bosses. In this video you can see that the boss has defiant stacks. While using his stomp attack I interrupt him with my mantra. The skill goes on cooldown before the boss finished casting -> the skill fails but the animation keeps going. That’s why I hyped this trait. It gave us mesmers the possibility to play PvE interrupt builds and be viable with it! Also it gave the mesmer a UNIQUE mechanic to handle bosses! I was extremly frustrated when they nerfed it.

Pretty much that^

In short it gave Mesmers a chance to counter play thieves (who single handedly keep us out of most PvP teams), and rewarded doing more than stacking with max DPS in PvE.
Naturally anet would give it an instant bug fix(nerf).

as a GW1 dagger mastery assassin (essentially the forefather of the modern thief), i can’t say i feel sorry for shutdown mesmers being denied a spot in GW2 >.>

As former GW1 shutdown mesmer I still hope to get this :P
