new ranger skills in different traits
Read the Wind is getting an additional 10% attack speed increase on longbow, which you can equate to a 10% DPS increase. You don’t need the new trait.
Side note: Skills =/= Traits. It’s important to distinguish between the two.
What would you swap them with? If you consider the 10% on cripple trait more of a melee oriented trait for Short Sword as opposed to a ‘once and awhile’ 10% DPS increase in the off chance the opponent is snared while you’re using Long Bow you’ll be more content with the changes.
That said, I’m more conflicted about Remorseless and Read the Wind. It’s odd to have 2 competing traits like this that affect the same weapon. Many other 30pt traits for other classes seem designed to support varrying types of play. Not so for the Ranger.
I suppose an argument could be made that Remorseless and Read the Wind carry a similar difficult choice like Executioner and Hidden Killer? That a bit of a stretch?
Add to that the bloat at the master level as well and you realize that the Ranger still has a ways to go imo.

the whole point of getting this new trait was because the beastmastery was just wrong.
Even in the video you can see he points out all the different ways you can apply cripple BUT BUT it will all be in vain because rangers will want read the wind in most cases if they are ranged rangers.
yes it is very odd to have sooooo many traits that compete in one trait line. It hinders the builds once again.
even by your own post you say read the wind will be so great, so whats the other skill going to be used for??? you really shouldn’t be a pure melee ranger for many reasons especially for the reason we can have bows and they should be useful. We want the ranger fixed and yet again we will only be able to choose one new trait…
and to add why do other professions get blue traits like more damage if attuned to X or more damage if target is on fire (guardian too)
why do those traits are blue and not yellow AND it co-exisit with read the wind so you cant have both?? that cant make sense

Just thought I’d throw this in here again to make sure it’s read.

Ranger do have +% damage traits in adept (blue) and master (green) slots

plus you got the minor traits in marksmenship that is all about increase damage (vulnerability) .
i hate it when people compare abilities from one profession to a similar ability on another. “Why does x class get this and and y class has it slightly worse”. cause they are balance differently and do different things
these two new traits are to help fix the ranger. why must everyone say the exact opposite of the post? do you think having both traits would somehow make the class op?…hardly
I am just saying it would truly open up different builds. I hope rangers speak up and ask for these traits to be able to get both rather than have to choose one…

Ok so say we get both % boosters.
Current lb max aa damage is around 4, 1k without might or signets, thats on a glassy target. Now RTW will post patch buff that by 10%. That is technically going to be 4510 damage. If youd add another 10%, that would be 4920 damage per shot. If you add in full guard stacks, bloodlust, food buffs, signet of hunt, signet of wild, etc you are looking at potentially 6.5-7.4k damage in one shot in addition to air + fire proc. That brings us up to potentially 10, 5k to 12, 9k. That is close to max backstab damage at 1000-1800 range. With RTW that shot would be impossible to sidestep, thus you gotta tell a one-shot AA from any other AA. That is by definition, OP

The point of traits is to customize your character, not to have everything. As an axe user I wish I had the options of long bow. So your complaining the long bow has too many choices falls on deaf ears.
