Bringing cast times up to par with other professions. (yes i know comparing to other classes seems wrong, right? But hear me out.)

Simple example:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scorpion_Wire = 1/2 sec. with stealth (pulls caster on reflect)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Spectral_Grasp = 3/4 sec. (aftercast projectile) Pulls caster on reflect. (shouldn’t happen, wiki)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Path_of_Scars = 1/2 sec. pulls 3 foes (aftercast)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Magnet = 1 1/4 sec. (unblockable)

At first glance no big problems right?

But add to tese skills the option to block, be invlunerable, stealthed etc and these skills becone a whole different story.

Scorp wire: with stealth= quite something you won’t ever see coming.
Spectral grasp = quite something , that is easily dodged/sidestepped and outrun by most classes.
Path of scars = as it is , it isn’t used because well.. ranger. (fear the buffed version!)
Magnet = Quite something if used with block, invul etc.

Can add spectral wall for mesmer in combination to stealth.. well we all know on what map this skill is used, so won’t mention it.

So, considering that most pull skills are reasonable up to par with eachother looking the profession that uses it.
I found that:
The profession that has the least chance on hitting it is .. necromancer..
The profession that has the least options to cover it to not get interrupted is.. necromancer.
The profession that has the longest cooldown is necromancer.

So if you would put each profession against eachother with traits supporting this skill it would be clear that:

Thief will hit most and will evade most, engie second due to the possibility to negate the incoming pull easily in several ways, ranger, if they ever used this skill will probably hit well enough (if it was ever used) then the necromancer grasp…
basicly fails because, dodge, negating control effects, stealth, reflect, outrunning the projectile!, sidestep, long casttime and aftercast and the painfully slow animation..

Watch out guys i ..am..going..to ..cast..spectral …grasp ..now… there.. see it.. here it comes.. a little bit further now…there it is ..about..to…Oh ..side stepped..

anyway. if this game is about casuals.. why are some professions made to cast 5 skills before another professions can react to the first skill cast?

Another fine example for necromancer skills that is just to slow to mean anything and missed when casted on close range targets.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deathly_Swarm. wil never hit up close, has an aftercast and animation that are simply too long so it can only be used at range. (often cast pre emptive in the hope that these quick attacks deal some condition to you before the projectile finds it’s target. (but ofcourse a blink/leap etc to the necromancer will negatye this “homing” projectile) gg on nerfing the ability to blind professions in an leap animation.. making this skill less usefull.

tldr; Cast time, aftercast on necromancer are too long, way too long on almost every weaponset that has a projectile. considering most professions are sped up in most casttimes and animation.

Thats it.

54 infractions and counting because a moderator doesn’t understand a joke when he/she sees it.

Umm, Deathly Swarm is dead easy to land at point blank range. The difficulty comes when you try to land it at longer ranges because of the slow projectile.

U cant compare the classes.
if u do it then i want as many fears and dodges on my ele like necromancers and thief.
And I want the sustain and condi cleanse on my engi like an ele and so on if understand what i try to say.

Edit: btw Spectral Grasp has chill so it isnt only a pull

Ps: yeah my english grammar is horrible xD

Think about strong skills with strong effects.

Necro’s heal is freakin slow, but it has an amazing effect. And Necros even have another HP pool…
Thief Heal is kinda fast with invis, but its necessary for their survivability.
Enginner Heal is kinda slow too and easy to be interrupted, but is very strong.

Signet of Spite isn’t insta cast like other Signets (Thief for example), but dude, its a VERY strong signet.

Spectral Grasp applies chill that is really, really strong in PvP (and can give LF if traited). Scorpion Wire just pulls, and the same for Engies (who has an obvious animation and sound) and Mesmer. So… it needs to have something bad too in compassion of any other favorable factor the skills provides.

And for Deathly Swarm:
Unleash an insect swarm, >>blinding multiple foes<< (Blind is really strong, AoE is even better). >>>Transfer three conditions to your target on a successful attack<< (Con cleanse plus blind? This is awesome! And if it’s traited, the Blind can give chill too).

I play necro a lot too, and I used to think that their animations were slow, but after some time when I got used to it I’ve noticed how strong they are, and if they were more faster they would be really OP…

It’s all about balance. I even think that Necro is the most balanced class in PvP next to Guardian.

Necromancer casttimes are supposed to be slow. Anet said that numerous times. So i dont think there will be many changes to casttimes. I think only spinal shiver needs really a casttime reduction to 1 second. The rest should be solved differently.

And why is the casttime for spectral grasps 3/4 on the wiki but ingame it says 1/2? I always thought the wiki gives the tooltip casttimes. Well not that the numbers on the tool tips are accurate but…
