I don’t see the harm in bringing back ANY of the old content items from ANY event. I suppose I can understand the “prestige” aspect of items like this, but considering you can still buy them on the TP anyway, who really cares?
I never understood the SAB skin argument either, however. The Super Backpack skin and all the other weapon skins should have been brought back, imo.

No no, back when Jade weapons were out, those Dragon Chests or whatever dropped like crazy, plus you could buy them relatively cheap on TP. I was actually saying that 500 was a low number to open to get 4 tickets versus the thousands I opened to get one.

Since they can be bought, they are like any other rare. Prestige items shouldn’t be able to be sold, there is no prestige in purchasing something. Therefore as soon as it goes on the market it loses all its prestige.
Thats fine with me. Either make it bind on pickup and never to return, or make it able to be traded but never to return. Either way, the prestige is from the rarity.

I don’t think the skins from last year should return unless they are made craft able and bind in acquire.
Other than achievement skins there is very little in the game that rewards someone for being a longtime player. Exclusive holiday skins are a great way to show others you’ve been around for a while, years down the road. Anyone can still acquire the achievement skins.
If Anet doesn’t want to give players a way to show their longevity via exclusive time limited skins that’s fine. They also shouldn’t expect veteran players to stick around either when the next mmo comes out. If every new player can come along and get the same look of a 3-4 year vet, there is no prestige. The high cost in the TP reflects paying for a prestige that is no longer available any other way. This is just like antiques.
I personally don’t think the skins should come back, specially the scythe staff and the greatsaw. For those crying about them; they are still available on the TP. Unless of course your real concern is the price- and that makes YOU the selfish one.

This, I think, is the concept I understand the least. Are these the people who have maxed out their banks and bags because they carry a copy of everything they can get their hands on even though they have no use for it? If we had a way to display excess skins I could understand collecting them, but as is they are just taking up space in the inventory.

No, I’m the one asking for legedaries to be removed from the trading post and to only be acquirable by building them the way you’re supposed to.
I was quite hoping they would release the old and add in new ones onto the list. This year’s new skins are… kind of disappointing compared to last year’s, not to mention the utter lack of new costumes too. Could the older skins still be acquired via other methods perhaps?

I’m sorry but I find this EXTREMELY selfish and a terrible mentality. I have several of the halloween skins from 2012, and I wouldn’t mind if other people got them as well this year. I won’t deny other players these skins simply so I can feel unique.

The staff skin sucks so hard compared to the GS and Shield.
Staff skin does kinda look like a redo of the centaur staff (I think thats the one I’m thinking of, has a redish glow inside 3 bone pieces). Glad none of them are any good this year, cause I’m not supporting the BLTCs or the kitten ticket system.

Why is this argument still raging? Three of the skins are craftable and there are five new skins up for 1 ticket. That’s how it went down. There is no debate left of what should or shouldn’t happen, that’s how it did happen.

You do know you can convert them to be used in pvp and all pvp toons you make right just saying yes PvPers care about skins you should see the PvPers in my guild who have there PvP toons decked nice looking gear

Ehm actually yes you have to get some pvp skins in pve, and then transmute them. It’s not really an issue for me, since I play both, but a pvp only player has basically no chance at all to buy one of those weapons of the tp. Lol didn’t you know that? In gw2 you have to pve if you want c00l skins in pvp.
The only prestige items in the game right now are Fractal Weapon skins. As you actually have to work AND get lucky to get those.
All an old BLC skin means, is that you either had a decent amount of money to spare during halloween last year, you bought a lot of keys, or got lucky. That’s it.

I don’t understand Anet could make tones of money putting the skins up in the gem store for the month i would weather pay for a skin skin you know like the rox quiver set but when its locked behind black lion chest RNG its just infuriating.

First off the skin were RNG based and out of a gem item when they could have ben just easily put on the gem store for actual gems people would have eaten them out then you can say there not coming back i didnt have a problem for paying for them with cash and gems the problem is the RNG factor of the stupid chest.
It is really disappointing. I was looking forward to working towards skins this year, as I opened several thousand bags, prolly $30 +whatever gold I had of chests with keys, farmed the crap out of the dynamics events and instance, etc.
Being an altoholic, I can’t recall if I even had an 80 at that point, not to mention no gold to buy them on the TP (and the conversion rates were atrocious).
If people really feel superior because they got lucky with RNG hurrah for them. Since the other skins were still craft-able I assumed I could still get them when it came around again, owell seems negative experiences are all I’ve been taking away from GW2 lately.

think about the people who were already there last year, spending tons of money or gold for the blc skins and didn’t get one, or the pvp players who dun have the money to buy it but also participated 2012.
Where ist the prestige? If you want something prestige, make people work for it, not binding it on rng or grinding gold.

I am perfectly okay with temporary items, but this has devolved in to “MY Barbie deserves to look better than YOUR Barbie.” Though the former Barbie is either a lucky dog, or has a serious gambling problem.

If you want your luck based reward to have more meaning than just, “it’s a skin I like to use,” or to force people to have to pay you for it because you happened to be lucky enough to get it you’re a greedy selfish entitled player. See how that falls into place. Greedy because you’re forcing people who either weren’t luck or never had the opportunity to pay exorbitant amounts for something that cost you nothing to acquire. Selfish because you don’t want them to have any other way to get it. Entitled because you happened to get it and still don’t want them to have the same options.
If you want another chance to get a skin other than having to go to great effort to pay for something that took no effort to acquire in the first place because you legitimately want to use it for its appearance and not at a pay day you’re a greedy selfish entitled player. No, that one doesn’t fit nearly so well. You’re not greedy for not wanting to pay hyper inflated prices one something, you’re frugal. You’re not selfish for wanting them to be available, that’s altruistic. You’re not entitled for want the option simply because it’s not a demand.
I do want it to be the case, I’ve always felt prestige items should be based on effort, not happenstance. Titles and achievements can be based on happenstance but actual items shouldn’t be. But I’m not insisting that’s the way it has to be because it’s not my game and ANet can do whatever they kitten well please with it. When someone insists that that is the only way it can be done and claims they will fly off the handle if it’s not done that way because they say so, that is entitled.

While it’s disappointing the old skins didn’t come back, in hindsight it was almost certain this was what would happen. Once word gets around that whenever new skins are released, the cheapest time to get them is when they’re first released (thanks to the 1 BLC ticket scheme), ANet can expect to see a lot more key purchases. It’s simply the best financial decision they can make.
I still wouldn’t rule out the old Halloween skins from ever returning (they might make a return if/when the price for Halloween weapons gets bumped up to 5 – 7 tickets and remain year-round), but the obvious advice is that whoever wants the new Halloween skins should get them NOW.

The first halloween was a huge wake up call (or at least should have been to everyone). Anet likes using kittenty RNG boxes to get people to pay money and gamble for a small chance at getting something they want. I know i spent a ton of time grinding keys and gold for keys last halloween only to end up with NOTHING from the boxes. The shining light at the end of the dark holiday tunnel was that you could buy the skins on the TP directly with in-game currency. In fact, i own a number of the RNG box skins, but i’ve never received a single one from using keys and luck.
The rule i learned on the very first update that came out for this game, back in 10/12: if you like a limited time thing that comes out, buy it on the trading post while it’s relatively cheap.

Actually, the term really, really applies to multiple parties on both sides here. I know i’ve used the world myself after other posters brought it up, but in my ideal internet world, the words “elitist” and “entitled” would be retired due to savage overuse and abuse.
