Tower of Nightmares just came out and the Labyrinth is a ghost town, and not spooky ghosts.
Why did they over run their premier holiday event with a re-skinned Scarlet event? The candy corn grind to get the Bloody Prince Thorn mini had gotten even worst since you can not even grind for it in the labyrinth. (and I think they just make the labyrinth harder now so it is impossible since no one is there).

Where did the GW1 spirit of Halloween go?

Most of GW1’s events happened in instances and main cities…

Nothing wrong happened…i’ll be back there after I get my achievements to show people how clocktower is DONE.

All of the knockbacks, pulls, chills, & cripples on high hit point mobs that pop retaliation is just annoying. Its just not fun.
On top of that you can only get the champion chests 1 per day per account.

People got thier achievements and have now abandoned it.

I really am sorry that you were unable to get the item you were after but I don’t think anyone is going to go back in there. Maybe you could find some people here on the forums or on reddit/guildwars2 that are in the same boat and team up?

The champion chests being one day per account should be looked at.

The doors might also summon champions instead of veterans. I guess we all got candy corn elementals and players who play today will get a mask but….

1. Fewer things to do
2. For less reward, while
3. What there was to do was almost all recycled
4. To get anything requires tons of grind. Even last year we had temporary skins for people who wanted to roll play. Everything this year was grindy
5. The new skins were cash shop RNG only and not as good as the old skins,
6. The old skins were not brought back, the only skins in the game to not be brought back. Even last years Xmas skins are already back.

I gave up on it after the 2nd or 3rd day. The rewards were paltry and all the friggen CC mobs made the gameplay really annoying instead of fun.

It just came to me that while Anet killed the Labyrinth with the new living world content it didn’t have to.
If the Tower of Nightmares Should would have kept with the spooky Halloween theme delivering candy corn and treat bags that would have been great!
Maybe making the Prince Thorn less grindy and possible to get.

Yep, they de-storied and destroyed Halloween. I gave up on all that junk. I got my Gift of Candy Corn, I’m done. I wanted to make The Crossing for a little while, but it’s not worth the effort.

The schedule was not very well planned.

The Mad King has had his limelight stolen by Krait of all things. Seems like a complete waste, Halloween could have been something truly exceptional this year.

You shouldn’t be farming candy corn in the labyrinth anyways, you should be farming gold at frostgorge which you use to buy candy corn. Unless you’re one of those do it yourselfers and if that’s the case, you weren’t going to make it anyways, so its no loss.

I happened to show up in Lion’s Arch today, and the Mad King was walking around telling jokes. For a minute I thought of last Halloween – how fun that was, what a spirit it had. The ending this year has been overshadowed by one of the thinnest patches in months, an especial letdown when I had thought that the next patch was to be a real whizz-bang affair with how much of Halloween was recycled. But I have to say, just walking around with the Mad King and doing the little laugh emote, it felt a little like the spirit of last time, and that was nice.

I will agree that the whole thing of the chests only being able to get once a day played a lot into the problem. The sad thing I find is of people complaining about the difficulty of the mobs in the labyrinth. Me personally I found the difficulty refreshing and not too high, specially when you consider, it is a LEVEL 80 ZONE. I liked the challenge to it. However as we know too many casual players can not stand the thought of their character dying and armor repair costs (and please, if you needed to repair could just port to wvw for that and come back quick). The final problem I’d say would have been the Lich boss and his scaling and damage output being out of whack.

It seems they went very half kitten d this Halloween which is very disappointing. Yeah the Bloody Prince was cool, but both of the instances were very short and left me wanting. The Mad King Says was just a copy/paste from last year minis the cool breakout scene.

In addition, there was no build out from the excellent story of last year. All and all I feel ANET dropped the ball on one of their most iconic events in Tyria!

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

So, if you do not do the events in the first week, you can forget about it? Apparently, yes, that is the case. No Halloween final rewards for anyone who didn’t get the achievements within the first 10 days.

Not only is it NOT FUN, the labyrinth just a miserable place. The problem is I need some of those achievements. Has anyone from from Anet tried to hop in there recently? Can you tell us how to get some of those achievements when NO ONE is in there and it DOES NOT SCALE. DO you have FUN now? Knockbacks, pulls, chills & cripples and armor repairs is all you’ll get from the labyrinth.

Halloween was great the first year and in GW 1. This is the most miserable experience I’ve had trying to get a holiday achievement in any game Making everything super difficult does not = more fun.

The new achievements aren’t too lengthy though, which makes it less of a grind. If it can be finsihed in a day, it’s good enough for something that should take 2 weeks to finish.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

I don’t think difficulty is exactly the issue. I think it has to do with losing control of your character for several seconds in a row or being chain knockdown / knockback / stunned and immobilezed to death.

Difficulty does not have to come at the cost of fun.

Having mobs with some CC options is fine. Putting 6~10 of those mobs in a pack with the same script to abuse one player at a time is not. As it stands now if you want to avoid the ‘pack cc’ you would have to kill literaly every single mob in between where you are and where you are trying to go, and even then you would be subject to a ton of this ‘pack cc’ and by the time you got there the event you were trying to reach will be over and everything behind you will have respawned leaving you at square one.

The issues with the labyrinth remind me of all of the complaint threads about Orr. They finally made changes to Orr but then made the labyrinth like the old Orr. If people don’t like it in place ‘A’ they aren’t going to like it in place ‘B’.

Overall I think mob variety would have helped a a bit. So that the chain cc would be broken up. That right there would have gone a long way.

And I agree with you there is something wrong with the lich’s scaling. If there isn’t it is waaaayyy over the top.

I don’t care about dying, I care about being able to move 3 feet without getting pulled and immobilized by a half dozen mobs. A load of mobs with CC skills isn’t a challenge, it’s a gigantic annoyance and it’s not fun.

You weren’t supposed to solo in there. If nothing else, the horror would kill you.

The gameplay was good enough, but players left when there were no rewards.

No, the CC is annoying and it wasn’t really fun with other players because the rewards were lousy even when you could actually tag the mobs.
