Grand high viscount of candy corn...really??
Like so, so, so much in this game, he just need to scale better. A large zerg can demolish him, so an overall nerf or increase in rewards is not the answer.
Feedback him as a mesmer, hilarious.

You would need some kind of candy corn coding to defeat the Grand high viscount of candy corn.

Yeah, it’s amazing that with a large enough group he drops so fast. With small groups you can’t kill him.
I wish they could get the scaling right so that he’s a fun, but challenging, opponent with both sizes.
Maybe limit the projectiles to a maximum ratio of the people in his radius, also his hp/damage scale based on people. That way small groups will have a challenge, but relatively a similar challenge to the difficulty a large group would face.
Of course after more than a year of people asking for this I think we’ve all given up.
nerf tequatl they said. nerf mad king they said. nerf thieves they said. nerf guildwars they said. nerf they said, nerf.
I dont care if he is nerfed, as it is, he is not worth the time, i generally avoid both him and the lich unless im running with a really good zerg, even then its not worth the effort. Buff rewards, chest every kill at least.
I think he is fine. Yell reflects when he lays candy on the ground and watch him take a chunk of his own HP away.
Also, you know, use the puddles to get the buff that actually makes you deal a ton more damage to him, and take a ton less.

QFT.
Proper scaling.

What? Zergs apply logic and tactics? You must be joking…

The actual change that’s needed is possibly to make it more apparent just what the mechanics are - I’d daresay that most players who know about the Candy Coated buff got it from reading the forums (and the majority of player don’t…) with the odd couple who discovered it by happenstance and those who were informed during the fight and believed the speaker. It’s far from intuitive that the way to fight the Candy Corn Viscount is to roll around in a pool of molten candy.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
Another puggy that doesnt take the time to learn the encounter and cries nerf instead. Same situation every two weeks.

I agree. I don’t think that the boss necessarily needs a change—although the amount of HP he has is bordering on ridiculous—but the appropriate tactics for the fight are very unintuitive. It has to be explained before each encounter by people in the zerg.
I will say that after doing the PvE instances for the Bloody Prince the candy puddles make much more sense, but not everyone participates in the Living World.
By Ogden’s hammer, what savings!

From what I recall, this mechanism isn’t introduced until the second Bloody Prince dungeon, which can’t be accessed until after the meta achievement has been obtained. Most people will be going into the labyrinth and fighting the candy corn to do this.
Perhaps a more obvious graphic would help. I tend to stay away from fields like that since they are often not beneficial, so I didn’t know until I read the forums. I have been sharing it in game and most people are quite surprised (and thankful) to learn about it.

yeah, did not do the instances.
I didn’t notice the candy pools until the 3rd time I killed him.
was too busy dodging instant kill candy artillery.
Even when I DID notice them. I had no idea what they did, till reading these forums. I thought they gave run speed or something. It is not very clear at all in game.
The Viscount’s candy pool graphic is pretty obvious. The problem is that a zerg and all its fabulous particle effects make seeing anything extremely difficult.
I think if I could attack the Lich in a group of 10, we might be able to figure out his mechanics. Could see how the skeletons spawn, any animation tells, etc. But instead all I ever see is a bright spot inside the mausoleum and the occassional Revive prompt.

Not that it makes any difference on zerg.
Scaling? In GW2?
That’s madness
The big problem some groups have with him is people trying to play at range too much and running into his launched candy corn attack. Then they die and either wait for someone to rez them (people that try usually get killed too) instead of taking a WP or take the WP and run straight into the candy corn barrage again and die again. They do this over and over expecting some different result I suppose. Depending on the size of the group that probably takes out 1/4 of the group on a steady basis.
Doesn’t really matter if the zerg learned about the puddles… The puddles are capped, so playing it properly will only provide protection and increase damage for a few players. Just be happy that you can get your resist/reflect for the candy corn instead of praying to get the buff instead of the other guys.
Proof that they are capped? See what happens when a pool is laid under the boss’s feet and under the ball of melee players. You rarely get any stacks of the buff if you are standing in the middle of it.
He’s easy if you’re smart enough to use his candy corn fields and have one or two decent Mesmers around.
I once fought him with my Mesmer and around six other players and we quickly got him down to ~60% within a few minutes, then I messed up and died, and apparently I was the only Mesmer around so everyone else died, too. :-/
The trash mobs around him are a much bigger problem if you’re fighting him in a small group than the boss himself.
