I finished a month’s worth of content in 4 hours. I played last year and because of that, there is nothing new for me except one personal instance and soon one dungeon (which I expect won’t be anything special either)

Once again I’m standing in LA being bored.

I’m sorry if this seems rude but I can’t think of anything positive right now, I’ve waited a year for halloween as I loved last year’s and you actually managed to take the best part out, the scavenger hunt and the meta event in mad king realm.

yeah, the LS updates are killing replayability. I honestly have nothing to do and I wait 13 days for something new only to be able to complete it all in a couple hours.

Don’t link rewards to gold/RNG, there’s no point in doing anything if you can’t earn new rewards, thats why the new TA path is empty now, the rewards aren’t worth it to re-do it consistently.

They managed to ruin it by making things ridiculously grindy. I too loved it last year but now it just feels like a skinner box.

Hm?
Unless I miss something you CAN’T have completed everything yet, since it is not yet possible to have enough of the achievements to complete the meta-event in order to unlock the “last” part of the story.

I also wonder where you get the whole : “a month’s worth of content” when it is only two weeks until the next update, which most likely ties into this one.

teq was cool and new TA dungeon. Apart from that endgame seems to be running around in zergs pressing 1 to save for a legendary or try to kill other zergs.

I agree, did last years content, feel like there is nothing for me to do this year besides grind 50 door events and the story thingy.

Funny because i ignore as much of the bi weekly content that i possibly can and i find plenty to do.

I am however looking forward to the halloween one and the wintersday events, it’s a shame that those two special holiday events from GW1 got lumped into the bi weekly grind.

the comment about the skinner box is spot on, i’ve seen it come up before on here and i must say i actually learned something from these forums that i can apply elsewhere which is pretty nice.

Standing in LA being bored? Maybe you have a general issue with a game, not with it’s updates? If with the amount of content Arena is pushing out (even despite that some updates are indeed minor) you are feeling bored, it means that you either dont like GW2 as much as you may think or you will get bored with pretty much anything thrown at you. Show me another MMO where you get spammed with more “something to do” on a regular basis as in GW2? And besides, the game is already massive as is, even without all those LW updates. If it doesnt catch your attention, go play something else or go outside and get back once you will want to play again. I can assure you, there is plenty to do in GW2 even if you would play 10h every day.

What we have just now is only the first part of the halloween update. We have this for 2 weeks, and then on 29th the next part. But I do agree there doesn’t seem much to do, maybe its because we have done all this before, although there is still a few more story aspects to do once we have enough achievements to continue the story, which I am looking forward to doing. Lets just hope it gets better.

Maybe press ‘B’ and checkout one of the borlderlands and help your server in WvW instead of overflowing L.A.

The only thing to do in GW2 right now is farm. Running around, pressing 1, and following the blue triangle. I came back today for the Halloween event and I’m already back to being bored.

Feeling similar. This is just the same old “chase event sites” zerg rush we’ve had for weeks (months?). Story is once again limited to one or two short story insances. Those are actually well made, but it doesn’t help the whole thing feeling somehow lacking.

As for the actual event zone (the labyrinth), I’ve already talked about that in another thread, but I’d quote myself, cause I think it actually fits even better here:

There are 3 legendary creatures in the labyrinth and they each have their own event and achievement for defeating them. They are:

The Labyrinthine Horror, the Grand High Viscount of Candy Corn, and the Skeletal Lich.

And here I see one of the biggest design flaws of the whole zone (or “event” in general). I’m no professional game dev; only did some indie niveau development so far, but from my experience of playing MMOs for about 12 years:

  • There are indeed three different bosses with their own little events, although all three are very basic: giant meat bags with different aoe damage effects being able to kill most characters in just a few wills. There is no special mechanic, nothing to figure out, just brawling.
  • There doesn’t seem to be any incentive to go into the dungeon besides those three bosses and their achievements. Why? The standard events inside seem to be essentially the same you can find outside in the world. Why repeating content?
  • There is absolutely no exploration: Nothing to add here; there are no secrets, there is no jumping puzzle, not even some gravestones with jokes on them or whatever (unless I really missed those). It’s just an area filled with ressource nodes and tons and tons of fast respawning monsters.
  • The area isn’t accessible without a zerg. This point essentially belongs to the previous two points: There’s no content for solo players or people being in small groups. In addition to that, most (if not all) encounters are dumbed down to “just wait till it dies” events once a “critical mass” of players is reached.

One more point, but that’s more opinion based:

  • There are just like 3 or 4 different enemies in different colors/variations. While this isn’t bad in general, I’m not a real fan of “candy corn elementals” or “plastic spiders”. Let’s be honest, this isn’t mad in-character or anything and it’s definitely not something I’d consider apropriate for an RPG. It’s just mad design wise, although that’s really up to interpretation. Skeletons are a welcome addition considering most other undead are just zombies.

To be honest, this really feels like the most lacking living world event so far (I started playing earlier this year during the Flame and Frost arc). I’m not sure what changed compared to last year, cause I’ve read multiple times that people were looking forward to it. The generic appearance of the new zone is nice and apropriate. I also like the clock tower. But the events, achievements (ugh? why always make a grind out of events?), and the monsters are just stuff people won’t remember (in a positive way). I’d even consider it boring.

I am sorry but this is how long-term gameplay in every MMO works. I played around 10 major MMO in the past decade and if one would intend to stay in game for longer, this was always how it worked. You farm. Grind. Repeat content. Recycle content.

I am not saying that this situation is ideal. I would also like it to be better. But this is the reality of this genre. GW2 is actually pretty robust when it comes to throwing new stuff to do. If you like that stuff or not, that is a different issue. But dont expect from developers to do something that was never done before. They are already trying hard. Actually even too hard in my opinion.

@Awe:
It really depends on how you approach “new content”. Take a look back at Flame and Frost or whatever it was called. It was really well made. There were multiple arcs, several (albeit short) story instances, new characters to meet and even a bit of grind (but just a little bit).

Unfortunately, later events moved the attention to achievements and even now even people, who don’t care about achievements but want to experience the actual living story, can’t do so, because the story content is locked behind grindy achievements (let’s be honest; at least a few of those achievements are very grindy; we don’t know how the daily achievements will be so far). Also keep in mind that daily achievements can be bugged (as seen last Sunday), so you should still do as many live event achievements as you’re able to do, if you’d like to experience the story.

Yeah i don’t think A-net are very truthful to be honest. Look a how little we get from supposed 8 weeks of content then look at last years 2 weeks worth. No way did it take them 8 weeks to take out the MoBa mini game and add in a small dungeon. I wish they would be more open with us Because this is getting kind of sad now.
