Inquistion - do not hide.
Wait…when i’m playing as a ghost I don’t see anyone on the minimap. Screenshot plz?
Same, as a ghost, you don’t see villagers. Hiding is a boring technic, but quite efficient.
As stated in the opening post:
Just stand on a teleporter and the villagers are revealed as little red dots.
You can easily guess where they are running and maybe ambush them by teleporting to another side of the Map.
You can also set a personal Waypoint to not lose track of those campers.
Hunt them all down!
There are a few “safespots” out of this “radar-range” – but they are few and easily checked.

B-but…I like it when they hide.
By Ogden’s hammer, what savings!
I love to play ghost.. never seen peasants win when i’m playing
Never seen peasants win at all, that’s why I stopped playing. As long as the ghosts aren’t afk the peasants don’t have much of a chance. Yay for lopsided mini games!

I see the villagers win maybe 1 or 2 games in 8.
I understand the lopsided nature of the game, but the chasm could be—and should be—bridged a bit. Ghosts just don’t need radar-enhancing portals and ridiculously powerful attacks and long, spammable emotes that make villagers drop items (including The Ripper). Even villagers that play exceptionally well often lose simply because there are too many things stacked against them.
Also, the game directions could probably be more clear. There’s no way for the newcomers to understand the teamwork dynamic of the villagers side unless it is explicitly explained to them by other players.

Hehhe, my first game I won as the last peasant standing by hiding in one spot the entire match. At least now I know how I got found, but it was too late to beat me.

Definitely, I tried it like 3 times, figured out that it was unfun and frustrating and stopped playing. It reminds of me Southsun Survival; slowly(oh god sooo slowly) meandering around, picking up things on the ground that you have no idea what to do with, dying and then hassling other players in a ghost state. SS wasn’t any fun and this isn’t either…

I like to start the game by grabbing a hammer, tag teaming with one other peasant and then hunting down courtiers. When there are only a couple at the start of the game, it’s fun to watch them run away from you, instead of the other way around.
Villagers chasing you with Hammers?
Mad King Says→ Fear→ Eviscerate one of them.
Most of the times they fail to realise that they need to quit just as a second Courtier is added to the mix. By the time they do, there are already 4+ Courtiers in the scene.
And this thread sums up why I don’t play that mini-game.

As I said in another thread…. some really aren’t that smart.
The problem also comes from people letting themself get killed on purpose when the game starts. It is much harder to escape or organising a defense when you have 2-3 ghost taking away your resources and spamming traps and Mad King Says. Not to mention, if you get hit once by a trap or a ghost, you get an in combat speed penalty leaving you vulnerable to any other ghosts chasing you down.
every time i died was because of the mad king says….. animation is too kitten long
[Teef] guild :>
At least in Southsun Survival there’s not the incentive to get killed. Playing as a ghost in the Inquisition awards points just as well as playing as a villager, if not better. In Southsun the ghost form is more of a consolation prize.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
This mini-game is incredibly boring. I resort to hiding all the time so I can update my Facebook feed or feed my cats or simply contemplate the Universe.

The trick is to keep watching the ghost for the cast animation. The attack can be dodged or LOSed. If there’s only one ghost chasing you it’s quite easy to keep cc’ing it with web or torch. If you feel like taking risks you can even run up to it and start dodging attacks for extra points, or even to kill it with hammer or bone (20 points per kill!).
If you are going to use the fleeing tactic, make sure you run around objects and walls as much as possible so all the mad king says attacks fail.
I want it to make sense right away, then another sense later. Murkiness =/= quality "

Well . . . at least I know why they kept finding me no matter where I hid. Heck, I was once behind a corner on a cliff face, and the courier found me anyway!
Radar hacks!
Ahh, so THAT’S how you see the dots on the minimap! I was wondering how to trigger that.
I got my 8-game achievement and I’m never playing this mini-game again. I agree in that the competition is extremely lopsided. About three games in, I just started running immediately to the center and got ghostified. The remaining five games went much “faster”.
I didn’t have a single care for bags or rewards. I just wanted it over.

You realize that’s repeatable up to 50 times (for achievement points), right?

You only need 8 for the meta and there’s no way I’d be grinding it out 50 times just for ach points. If it was fun maybe…or maybe even if movement speed wasn’t set to ‘just shy of reverse’…
You don’t “need” to do it for the meta.
Ah, I didn’t even know it counted for the meta. I finished it before that achievement went live, and even still I thought it didn’t count.
I got a chest every time even as a villager for half the game. You need to turn in items to ghosts.
The chests are awarded for being a top scorer in a single category, whether you are a ghost or a villager. If you are a villager just keep turning in stuff. If you are a ghost use mad king a lot or get more kills or set more traps (and have them connect with villagers) than anyone.

Yeah actually now that I think about it I didn’t even grind out the 8 games because after 2 games I went to do something more fun.

Yeah I found a guy who was looking for stuff but none of the stuff he wanted was actually anywhere to be found. Then I hid in a corner until I got killed, then a second later the game ended.

That’s the point! Its never near the guy or girl that needs them (except maybe one or two) the ones you need are usually across the map adjacent opposite corner next to the other guy.
Girl that wants bones will have torches (and 2 bones) for girl across that needs torches, and girl that wants torches will have bones and webs (for guy that needs webs) and so on.
Oh man with the move speed as slow as it is? Yeah no way I’m running all over the map looking for junk.
I hid pretty efectively for atleast one game today. BTW Villagers jumping off the sides do not die.
Tenebrous Fivetree – Guardian
Zelots of Shiverpeaks (ZoS) – Northern Shiverpeaks

Someone found a way to boost their movement speed as a villager. They were able to constantly outrun me as a ghost and had a fast endurance regen rate. They were the only ones that I saw to be able to do this so either there’s a very rare item that gives them this ability (did not see any buffs on them) or they found an exploit.
This likely isn’t directly related to your post but it did remind me of it.
Use food.

The only times that I have seen villagers win is when the villagers tried hiding.
Villagers only run faster than ghosts sometimes, but even when the villager does run faster than the ghost it isn’t sufficiently faster and a team of smart ghosts can send a ghost ahead of where the villager is running to which makes running pointless because you will just run into another ghost.
The spammable fear+teleport also completely negates the marginally faster villager run speed.
He ran fast enough to be out of range. It’s maybe the difference between someone with a speed boost signet compared to one without. Perhaps boosts from traits are allowable and that’s how they’re doing it. I’m also noticed that sometimes people get downed instead of insta-killed. They have access to their class’ downed skills such as must form for Ele. I even saw someone still run around in downed form.
You can’t hide that well because the ghosts can see your nametag popping out. The game would be so much more interesting if names were turned off while still keeping the sidebar of who killed whom.
And like almost every other GW2 minigame, theres always some balancing they could be introducing. If you’re the last villager standing, you get the Ripper. Does 6k a hit, and it hits 3 times in the animation- enough to kill a ghost. Downside is, you’re rooted. So ghosts can just fear and jump you before you know whats going on. If you get the ripper, you should be able to stand a chance battling against the 10-15 ghosts. Fear Immunity, 3-5x the defense/HP, or permaghostkill iono.
