Hello all.

I enjoy the Mad King’s Labirinth minigame. It’s probably by far my favorite. However, I’m seeing more and more people (villagers) jumping off the edge of the map to avoid capture.

To me, this is not how the game is intended to be played. If you are feared off, you ought not to have been standing so close to the edge.

Personally, I can now anticipate people jumping off, and counter it accordingly, however not all players can do this.

I would like to see an update making intentionally jumping off kill you. To my mind, this is not how the minigame is supposed to be played, and is little more than low end exploiting.

Thoughts?

What does jumping off /do/? Do you respawn, or does it kill you, just without giving the opponent a point?

I’d never even considered that. :/

It respawns you at a point a little way away from where you fell. In some areas this can be sued to gain a significant distance from your pursuer.

I feel that maybe if the ghosts were nerfed a little, then it should kill you. But since the ghosts can spam mad king says, two shot you, never die, etc. It is completely fair. Especially since after a while you can be running from too many ghosts to just run past and jumping off is a good way to get a little distance from them.

This mode needs tweaking anyway…

Im all for a last man standing but as stated the sheer fact that health doesnt regen for villagers is stupid. Ghost being unable to die, also dumb. If i put in the time to grab a hammer and out play them they should be dead.

I think the ghosts are fine, I have little trouble evading them unless I’m unlucky enough to have 4 or more on me.

Perhaps if the ghosts had to respawn in the middle it would be more ideal.

The problem for me is people using jumping off the map as a legitimate tactic. If you’re a competent villager (summoning patrols, using the bundle weapons and your stealth sensibly) you should not need to resort to this.

Are you seriously complaining about this?

Come on, man. Whenever a Villager falls off the ledge, he lands on a predetermined spot and remains stunned for 0.5-1s, so you can easily anticipate this and keep them from running (You can even place a trap there and they’ll trigger it).
Also, if there are two or more Courtiers, you let the one ahead of you force the Villager to jump off while you wait for him to land on that predetermined spot.

You can also simply go Mad King Says on him right after he lands and most of the times that’s game over for the Villager. In fact, Courtiers have an overwhelming advantage just by having the opportunity to use Mad King Says five times in a row once the Villager is in their range (which isn’t very hard thanks to the gapcloser from the Scarecrow).

If there was anything from which I expected complaints, it was Mad King Says, and even then I don’t really mind it. Villagers are supposed to outsmart the Courtiers by using every resource that they can conceive in their minds, and even then it is nearly impossible to win as a Villager if there is at least one Courtier that knows every mechanic/hiding spot in the activity. Luckily, there are many underperformers.
