At first I thought this might be fun, a game of cat and mouse, hide and seek. Then came in the mad king commands at full blast with no cooldown. I either do the command and wait 3 seconds for it to complete or get knocked down for a second and take lots of damage. Either way as soon as that player uses a command it’s game over.
Then there’s a bug that allows the shout to perma stun villagers. Don’t know how it’s used but had it happen to me many times today.
Best thing to do in this map is head over to the center of the map and throw yourself to death as a villager.

I enjoy this game, but I think the emote commands need a global cooldown. Also, removing the radar ability from ghosts who stand on the teleports would enable much more flexible hiding.

the rest of it is easy to work around, but the radar from standing on the teleporters make the game ultimately pointless if you’re a villager. It’s obvious they only intend for the courtiers to win, the game is overwhelming rigged in their favor

With the bug, if it somehow favored players, ie earn gold fast, items etc. is nerfed pretty fast. Hurts players and they are slow if ever fixed it. Look a the Queens Gauntlet when they tried to fix it though still people manage to pull it off.

There is a cool down on the emote, but it isn’t much longer than the time before casting and when the stun occurs. To avoid the emote, use the invisibility skill. It strips the emote.

An interesting feature would be when the villages talk to the Mad King in the center, he teleports them somewhere randomly. Thus, if they are being chased and make it to the middle, they have an escape.

Are you sure it strips it? I’ve used the stealth before so that I could perform the emote without dying, and gain the swiftness.

I love being a ghost. I hope Arena Net will add Lunatic Inquisition to the activity rotation.

Funny that they decided to bring the least fun minigame back instead of that moba style minigame which actually was more fair, didn’t take forever and thus was enjoyable.

This labyrinth minigame lacks even basic introduction and as a new player you have no idea how it works. Not that it is more fun if you do, because then you will just become even more powerful ghost.

There have been numerous threads about this already.

Anet has not responded to a single one.

This topic is much like the idea of rangers becoming actually viable.

It is lopsided, but I think it could be improved with some tweaking.

The radar on the teleport pads reduces the viable hiding places to the four corners of the map and the very center, which is extremely limited and makes searching out villagers very easy. Some of the best hiding spots are well within the radar’s range, and thereby useless. This could be fixed by gradually reducing the range on the radar proportionately to the number of villagers alive. By the time the villager team is down to one person, the radar should be entirely disabled.

To assist with hiding, enemy nameplates could be disabled by default, and just give the players a red outline (as if you’re hovering the mouse over them). The nameplates are often what gives away a villager’s hiding spot, as the nameplate often penetrates walls and sticks out well beyond the character model.

The villager’s treasure hunting events need to be ramped up. The fire imp patrol, for instance, does poor damage and is easily destroyed by two ghosts. If the villagers take the time to do these events, the events should truly help the villagers for the remainder of the match. The patrol NPCs should respawn (somehow so the ghosts can’t prevent the respawn by leaving one imp alive) every two minutes or so once destroyed, and they should do a decent amount of damage so that the ghosts have to work as a group to counter them.

The fear cone should not stun, although I think this has been acknowledged as a bug.

The Mad King Says skill should be on a global cooldown (the full cooldown across all five), and should not result in the villager dropping their held item unless the villager chooses to.

I don’t know if it’s possible, but I also think the fear cone and AoE should not penetrate walls.

Just some ideas to make it better for next year, if this activity is going to become an annual tradition.

Does anyone know why the moba game didn’t come back this year? Instead we got this boring minigame. Guessing it was because the ANet employees were proud of a game they created and wanted to force it on us in order to get the achievement.

The game would not be so boring if dying as a villager wasn’t so easy, and if hiding and not moving didn’t work so well.

Some guys have found some map glitches and get on top of the walls and out of bounds places, and they get a guaranteed victory without doing anything.

Villagers should be able to gather items in increased numbers just like in Southsun survival instead just one, the summoned armies and veterans should be stronger, and courtiers should be able to bring something to the mad king so he points out where villagers hide for a while.

And all remaining map glitches must be fixed so people out of bounds and outside the playfield gets kicked in.

As it is now, most matches are too boring.
