It’s fine. None of the JP are exactly hard, and they’re all cake once you’ve completed them once. Considering the way the clock tower has to work I wouldn’t want it to be pixel perfect jumps. That would be an unnecessary frustration.

Always one person who complains that things are too easy regardless of how others find it.

I would rather they keep the jumping puzzle as is and introduce another one next year so people that have mastered this one can get something fresh.

Increased difficulty does not equal increased fun.

Add my vote to the “new and improved clock tower”. Although it is a bit late to ask for it but next Halloween – please make something happen. Like hard mode or something.

Last year this JP was a highlight of the game for me personally. Man if it was exciting, unbearably frustrating and fun at the same time. This year – meh, just auto-runned through it.

I even thought at first Anet simplified it. But after watching last year YT videos, I’ve realized that no, it is the same. I’ve just trained it so much last year that it is a walk in the park now. Boohoo, so much for a holiday

If you’re only making it 1 out of every 3 attempts, that is failing. That is 33.333333333% pass rate. Which is a failing grade. You shouldn’t consider this easy until your success rate is above 70%.

I consider it extremely easy. 1 in 3? I did say at least once, meaning I also can do 2/3 and 3/3, which I have. But that besides the point. Jumping Puzzles are an amazing aspect of this game, and it’s called a puzzle for a reason. Puzzles are meant to be hard or challenging. The MK JP is neither….

By this logic, no jumping puzzle is hard. Hard is an opinion, but ANet measures it by how many of their community can beat it. I would guess less than 10% of the community has. I don’t know, i just know I am the only one of my friends who has beaten it, and I’ve had to beat it for 6 of them

No-no, Clock Tower still has a huge value, absolutely.

When I’ve beaten it recently, I’ve got a bunch of PMs asking for help from people who apparently were doing it for the first time. For those who had all the fun last year though, it IS easy. And that’s the point.

I wouldn’t mind a portion of the Heart of the Mists made exclusively to relive old events and the like, just for some rewards and that sort of thing. Imagine it, Mad King Clocktower whenever you wanted~

The goal is to do it flawlessly. And repeatedly. With time you’ll get the assurance, the rhythm and you’ll even understand how to deal if things that seem to block your way for no reason.

forgive the double post, but just saw these exchanges. heh, it’s more than possible to fail the last jump. others who’ve made it up there said they saw me jump on-time for sure, and they make it in. all i get is loading screen, but i hear the hands grabbing me and i end up down at the start. other times they say they didn’t see me jump at all, when i did.

note: even last year, you never visually jump through the broken glass. it always looks like you don’t make the jump and fall (at least, that’s how i made it last year).

it’s extremely laggy. haven’t tried jumping two panels before the clock yet though ahah so i’ll give it a shot. but that’s MASSIVE lag. and you jump straight into the wall as it spins, but two panels before the clock face comes up? and there are a total of 6 “walls”, correct? including the clock face.

I jump once I see the glass being broken. Does the goo gets higher once it’s broken ? Never tried it and don’t want to xD.
All I know is, the first time I got on top, I was terribly stressed. If I had failed there I would have been more than mad >.> I mean…I focus so much on that JP that I start getting a headache after 3 tries (and my face, which I saw reflected on my computer is way too tense during that…) but then again, this JP scared me. Last year, for two weeks I stopped playing the game and tried that JP over and over again.

The best approach here I believe would be to take the best of both worlds: have an easier version for inexperienced players, and a super hard version for hardcore puzzle jumpers, with extra loot. That would be awesome.

My problem is that I do all jp on ranger, necro, warrior, or elementalist. I also have a guardian who I never do jp with… because of the lack of permaspeed. With the jp in the pvp format, I lose my permaspeed, lose all the muscle memory that lets me farm through the other jp in the game on any race. The animations might be different, but every race jumps the same. Suddenly here it’s different and I generally die before I even get to the first gear.

I’d be more upset about it if there was anything at the end that I actually wanted.

No. It is by far the hardest jp regardless of what your ego may tell you. I had no trouble with it this year because I’m playing on a good computer, but last year it was near impossible playing on my laptop with mediocre framerate. If you make it any harder you will be limiting rewards to a very small subset of people, be it due to skill or computer specs.

There’s no longer any rewards but 20 empy shards, woot! The puzzle, for those who can’t do it, honestly isn’t even worth it now…..no achievements and no rewards…..there is no longer a sense of accomplishment other than saying “I beat it!”

For one, guardians can have a constant +33% speed going if specced right and secondly, I’m glad there are no speed buffs that you are able to use in the MK JP. This isn’t like a JP in the open world, no speed buffs and no skills leaves it to just plain old jumping and skill. For that, I am thankful for.

Last year, when Clock Tower first came out, I remember I had to do the puzzle around 10 times before I could get to the top. What made it difficult wasn’t the humps but the time you had to clear certain points. However, once you got used to that timing, you could literally auto-run through the entire thing flawlessly 10/10 times.

However, that puzzle made me excited for JPs and I got really into them, so within the next few weeks I completed every JP in the game. After that, I was excited for the Christmas JP, but I actually completed it on my first try. I was really disappointed.

I didn’t expect ANET to change the Clock Tower this year, but it was disappointing coming back to the puzzle a year later and doing it on my first try. I’d love to see more time-based puzzles, as that’s what makes these puzzles “challenging”.

I feel there needs to be more “hardcore” content put into this game for the people who feel the game is too easy. All there has been so far for that group is

  1. clock tower
  2. Christmas JP
  3. Liadri (My favorite piece of content in the game so far. First time I had to change my build to complete something in this game)

And nothing else. What happened to Underworld or Fissure of WoE? What happened to elite missions? What happened to hard mode?

I’m not saying we should forget the casuals. I just think there should be some “extra” challenging content that is put on the side and is completely optional for those who wish to do it. There needs to be something in the game to push the players to try. Right now, the only thing close to that is Tequatle and you need a super zerg to even have a chance. That’s not good design.

Well Aetherblade and new TA (to a lesser extent) brought many to tears. Of course, especially new TA, if you have time to spare you can beat it. But the challenge in dungeon is to not take 2 hours to beat something that barely takes 30 minutes.

And the difficulty of FoW and UW was that you got kicked if you failed a quest or everyone died.

I’m generally a good jumper. It took me ~3 hours of constant trying to get my first victory. After that though, I have about a 20% success rate, mainly because I’m not putting my full effort into it until I make it to the red beams.

This platform jumping race (not gonna dignify it as a puzzle) has roguelike difficulty. Hard to learn, but once learned, it’s almost trivial, as long as you are paying attention. The only difference is that it takes 3 hours instead of 30 (Nethack) or 300 (Crawl) to get to the point of mastering.

For the person complaining that they think this shouldn’t count as farmable: It is entirely farmable. Sure, the vast majority of people won’t be able to farm this, but those who can really don’t want the incentive to do so…that said, I do a round of this before joining the zerg for a couple doors, since I prefer the race to the zerg.

I am sorry Loki, but I see your post as a typical disguised “I am awesome” entry. You had to do a colossal amount of 10 tries to beat it last year? You did it on your first attempt this year? Awesome. I dont say you didnt. But if you did, you are not in the aforementioned 10%. You are in 1%. Better yet. You are in 0.1%. Congratulations. Now you demand harder content. Please, tell me. Where is the borderline of this ascension? If as long as there is one guy in the world saying that something is “too easy”, should Arena push the bar higher? If you are in 0.1% most skilled GW2 players, should Arena keep developing content that will challenge that 0.1% becouse rest is too easy?
