Am I missing something with this mini pet? You need 20 cobs to get it. 1 cob = 1,000 candy corn! You need 20,000 candy corn to get this pet!

I spent all last night doing the maze, mining candy corn mounds, doing runs of all the bosses in the maze and only got 130 candy corn! I still need over 19,800 to get it!

Is there an easier way to get candy corn, or am I missing something? I am not playing 24/7 until it ends to try and get 20,000 pieces.

The Trading Post has everything you need… with a cost. Yes, the amount can’t really be farmed, some has to be bought from other players who don’t want any.

Once you’ve mined all the nodes, swap to an alt and start over.

Keep in mind that they said that the vendor for the bucket and mini will persist after the patch is over. (Only the items for the unique weapons will be moved.)

I heard that by playing through the Living story “storyline” you unlock a lot of previously hidden nodes, and that as the event gets further along there will be more ways to get these special drops.

Your source? Because I have seen nothing to indicate that this is true, nor do I think it is likely something ANet could/would do…

I do agree with the OP though. The price of that Mini seems rather excessive (as did the Dragon Wings during Dragon Bash, but at least they were also a random drop).

If you talk to the asura via the mini golem, she says she sees a “marked decrease” in the amount of candy corn in the world, and suggests that the bloody prince is to blame. This seems to indicate that as the event progresses, there will be an increase in candy corn (and presumably the other materials) later on in the event.

I wouldn’t count on there being any major changes to the candy supply. Completing the storyline doesn’t seem to have changed it, as far as I’m aware, and without any new developments, the idea that there’s going to be an Act 2 to Blood & Madness is mostly powered by wishful thinking at the moment. (Wishful thinking I totally share, but without anything compelling to back it up.)

Therein lies my biggest problem with this event. I don’t mind reusing old content, or that the new content is short, but I do mind the way tens of thousands of items have been presented as normal, long-term goals for players. It’s one thing if an item would just cost a truckload of gold and be expensive, but I feel this

Blood & Madness Release Page

Candy Cornucopia

You can trade Candy Corn for new Halloween items like a Mini Bloody Prince, a 20-slot Halloween Pail, and special crafting items needed for Halloween weapons!

is being just a little bit disingenuous. I don’t mind content I can’t have, but I would at least like some apparent awareness of the fact that that this content isn’t meant for most people. You sell a high-cost item, you promote it as premium or for collectors. You don’t mention it with other prizes and wait for the sticker shock to set in. That’s a problem of presentation, at the very least.

All the other prizes are just as expensive. There’s nothing you can get from this event without dropping 100g+ on candy. Welcome to Halloween 2013, where everything good about 2012 is gone, and all the new stuff is in the gem shop.

i can make about 100g a day on ori and wood across 20 level 80’s. its not really that hard to make money, the rediculous part is an account bound mini for 140g? you can keep that content, i dont view that worth the time invested.

It’s not always about winning, sometimes its about losing without feeling used.

20 level 80s? If you paid for those 15 extra character slots in USD, that’s $150. If you paid for them in gold, that’s a rather significant amount of time spent to earn that much gold, as well as the time spent getting them to level 80 and the time spent switching characters to harvest resource nodes.

To each their own, and you must be filthy rich (in-game, I mean, if you’re making 140g daily,) but that’s by no means a standard most people are going to get anywhere near. One way or another, you’ve made a massive commitment to the game.

No one is doubting that if you used up a significant portion of the day that you could farm a lot of gold. Our complaint is that we shouldn’t have to turn GW2 into a second job in order to get new things for our characters.

I think you are a perfect example of the problem with this game. Anet switched from designing a game based around people having fun to a game designed to take the place of a job for those with too much free time on their hands. Unless of course you are botting, then my hats off to you for beating Anet at their own game.

I also think this is a great example of why the idea of DR as applied to drops was poorly conceived and executed. The metagaming people who Anet perceived as getting too many drops by farming the same respawns were the people who would be most likely to adjust to take advantage of any loophole that Anet created and thereby defeat the entire of the DR change. Thus we see this player who simply created a massive number of characters that can only be logged in in succession to farm the same mobs and thereby avoid facing DR on those mobs.
