Part of me was hoping for an updated version of the Mad Memoires, since the old version, while cool, isn’t ideal for combat. (Masterwork stats, can only use low-level upgrades.) Guess it’s time I transmuted its skin onto something nicer.

We might still see a back item before the month is out, since there’s still a lot we don’t know. You know what they say: Death, taxes, and commemorative back items.

Mask instead.

Perhaps there will be a backpack in the 2nd Halloween update.

Most of the content is reused with minor additions. A mask, while not exciting either, is at least a change from the onslaught of minis and backpacks.

I don’t know what the issue with the mask is, it’s beautiful and has already given me ideas for plenty of outfits.

I like Halloween. I grew up in and around Salem, Mass.

I’ve been wondering if the previous storyline(?, or whatever you want to call it) that was needed to be done to get the Mad King Memories back item would be coming back. There’s quite a few things from last year that they left off, which may or may not mean they won’t be available (Mad King Memories, Reapers Rumble, Ascent to Madness/Thorn fight thing, etc).

Yeah, minis are way better since there are slots in the collections tab for them. Back items just end up taking up bank space when you don’t need them.

it is a little weird, having a pumpkin backpack skin filled with treats inside with a small mini of the madking giving anyone close to the player birds as opposed to actually giving the bird to other players would have been great. halloween themed bag slots are nice too.

There are still less backpacks than there are weapon skins. I don’t think players truly think there is an over-abundance of backback skins, I think players are getting tired of the only souvenir from the Living World patches are either backpacks or minis and feel compelled to keep the skins they don’t use because they can never be obtained again.

I, for one, am looking forward to the 20 Slot Halloween Pail. I could always use bigger bags.

I think theres a lot of nice goodies this time around.

Its possible you can still do the scavenger hunt “quests” from last year since the Durmand Priory lady is still around. So might be able to get the book backpacks there.

But I’m glad to see the variety among rewards. I am also looking forward to a halloween themed bag. I was disappointed the 10 slot trick or treat bag was soulbound and kind of worthless on my main. But I really like the Gift box ones from Wintersday.

Also more minis is always good, even if they offer nothing to the game other then something to collect. Glad to see one of them is a Candy Corn mini though. xD Wanted one of those last year.

Candy Corn node is also good I think, so I can now have access to cooking recipes without having to stockpile corn this year.

Wonder if new weapon skins will show up though, or be the same ones.

I would think it’s safe to assume we’ll get another shot at Mad King’s complete. Since that was decent content and it would be a shame to chuck solid lore behind the main focus of this holiday.

My bank is stuffed with backpack items and we had a backpack item last Halloween as well as the last few updates.

I for one am glad this update is not another backpack.

I want a chained up coffin pack piece please.

It’s easier for them to put out backpacks and just resize them for every race/size than it is for them to make armor for every race/gender. Time wise it’s better for them to put backpacks out then have to come up with new armor 10 times for 1 piece. Now I’m not condoning this because I’m actually quite tired of seeing a backpack as a reward for getting like 100 achievement points (literally didn’t even look at achievements for the dungeon until after I got 10/10 for slickpack). But expect a backpack simply because it’s less time consuming than armor.

I’d take a 20x slot box over a new backpack or mini anyday. Atleast you can utilize it.
So far there’s way too many backpacks and even more mini’s. I like the special boxes like the one from the karka event.

When the game launched there were no back items at all (well, visible back items anyway). We’ve gotten a fair few since then, but compared to armor sets the number of back items available is still quite a bit less, and it doesn’t even hold a candle to weapon variety.

Seems like its just the frequency of new back items being added that’s making it “seem” like there are an overabundance of them, when in reality there’s only around 2 dozen different ones (a bit more if you consider recolors separately).

There were guild backpacks at release, and they were the only visible back items (and at the time they were pretty expensive!)

Anyway backpack skins are not usable for everyone. I have a second tier capacitor, give me one good reason why should i change look of something hard to get, something that is prove of my hard work to something that is relatively easy to get and has not better look? Maybe same good but there is non unquestionably better. And they will never do one becouse it would invalidate every other back item.
Not mentioning people with quivers and books…
If they want to give us some reward that is supposed to be only fun thing pets are better, becouse they are usable for everyone :-) At least until they release some feature that will make back items same like zenith skins and even alowing us to completely remove it from item. Or does spliter work for applied skins too? That would be half work done.

Bakpaks r more unique and different. Going from wings, to dream catchers, to steampunk. def need more variety. We have a ton of masks alrdy in game and none of them r really that distinguished.
Also have the fractal capacitor fully upgraded on my guard but…U dont have any alt characters? I have alts and theres not enough awesome back items for all of them(both pve adn pvp armor need back items!)

I want to have ascended back on every of my character so if not now eventualy i will have absolutely no use for them. So mini is still more usefull :-)

I also can’t have more than one mini visible at a time. I don’t see how that’s any different than a back skin aside from the part where it takes up a spot in my bag when I’m “displaying” it.

I personally think the backpacks that have been made available through the last year are all pretty bad. I’ve yet to see one that I really want to wear. This is why I want more backpacks.

The Halloween mask is better than a ton of the other masks so it’s decently welcomed.

Sure, technically anyone can have a mini out at any given time, but I find that they rarely do. I can run through Lion’s Arch and count the number of people actually using mini pets on one hand most of the time. Never mind seeing them out in open world.

Don’t know if its because of how much of a bother they are to use (having to summon them every single time you switch zones and needing to keep an invisible pack to keep them on you without getting deposited) or if people just don’t care about them. It could certainly be the summoning every zone thing, I use minis and half the time I forget to summon them. But either way, I rarely see them, so I don’t know if you can really say they’re more useful than back items.

Especially since everyone WILL use a back item at some point. Some people might not bother with the skins and just use no-skin ones with stats they want or hide the back item, but the back item is an actual gear slot and people will fill all their gear slots.

Minis are purely optional. A player could easily go without ever using one and be at no disadvantage whatsoever.

There is huge difference. Mini is collectible. Using backpack mean spending it. And if you want another you will destroy previous or have to make new one which is very hard in case of ascended (please dont hurt debate by claiming we dont need ascended backpacks, like some sure will want to do…)
You can have only one mini at one time but you can use any whenever you want. You cant use every type of backpack whenever you want becouse for many it woud mean long crafting process.
If i remember right MattVisual disscused this with Collin. Like i said in one of my previous post, if bacpacks will be like zenith skins it will be much more useful.

Backpak i have is gear, bacpaks from archievment reward are just skins for gear and applying it on my gear would invalidate all the work a did for it. Becouse everyone would see that cheap skin instead of that hard work a had to do.
It is like crafting ascended greatsword and transmute it to some lvl 10 GS.
If i will have possibility to change skins whenever i want and even remove them from my gear instead of completely destroying it then it would be different.

Aww, I was hoping for a new Halloween backpack. Among many other spooky items.

However, I’m also fed up with backpacks in the LS.. mainly that they’re just a one time thing so you have to cram all of them in your bank and you only get them for one character. But I would have been elated with one for Halloween. I wore my Mad Memoires for months.

Besides, the only real option for my necro is the tentacle backpiece, and I’d like to have more “dark” options..
