I hope the second Halloween update perks this up, but from what I read on Guru… this all seems like just some minor changes from last years content. I was hoping for some new stuff.

The last couple patches haven’t really given us much to do.

I don’t mind having old content reinstated. This time last year was thick with mid-term exams and I didn’t really get the opportunity to experience the Mad King’s ephemeral reign.

As far as “stuff to do goes,” I’m looking forward to playing Lunatic Inquisition and revisiting Mad King’s Labyrinth. There’s also the Clocktower, if you’re a psychopath. (Kidding! Put down those pitchforks, Clocktower fans.) They’re returning, but should still be fun.

As for new content, I think “The Bloody Prince Emerges” will have significantly more content than you might think if you’re just skimming over it. As the new Halloween storyline, I’d expect it to be more or less on par with last year’s, but with more time to do it in, rather than the more rigorous four-acts-in-nine-days of last year’s Halloween.

And, of course, there’s still the possibility of other things we don’t know about. Oct. 29 is going to be a new release Tuesday, after all.

The storyline portion should be completely different, since its going to revolve around the Mad Prince and not the Mad King.

Laybrinth is returning but with new additional enemies (and bosses, from the sound of it), so that’s kind of in the middle.

Clock Tower sounds like it might be exactly the same, but hard to say for sure.

Trick-or-Treat doors around the world is the same concept as last year, but its just a little extra for open-world areas so that’s not a big deal really.

Rewards are going to be new. Possibly a new weapon set (or a new set except The Crossing, Arachnophobia, and Mad Moon perhaps?).

That said, its not surprising that they’re reusing stuff, as that was always the intention with the “festival” type events. They wanted to build a repertoire of recurring event assets so that those particular events would be easier to implement, and hopefully give the devs more time for other LS content.

So maybe next month’s will be a big one because they’ll have extra time to work on it.

Old festival content returning should be a good thing.

Last year the forum was filled with complaints about too many festival updates at the expense of more meaty content additions. Colin posted that they were spending the first year laying down a foundation of cycling festivals so that in the year to come they could drop them back into the game without having to build them from scratch. The idea is that it will leave more time to give us more significant updates between festivals.

Whether it plays out that way, remains to be seen. But a Mad King festival that looks a lot like last year’s means dev resources are available for something besides Mad King, Wintersday, and Dragon Bash.

I think the release mentioned the new improved Clocktower. So I’d expect some changes, if only fixes to camera glitch rocks and perhaps a new voice over since it’s Thorn’s son this time.

I do hope for a lot of things similar to last year, because that is how tradition works. You repeat things. Maybe with variations, but you don’t completely change it every time. The ball always drops to the shouts of 10-9-8-etc in Times Square at New Years. Macy’s always has a parade with giant balloons on Thanksgiving. People always trick or treat on Halloween, and carve pumpkins to put candles in. (US examples, but those are the festivities I know. Other countries have their own traditions and festivals, with some features that have been in them for centuries).

Also, I never got a chance to play lunatic inquisition, so looking forward to playing that somemore.

Really, the festivals should have the same content as last year, just update the rewards. If Anet want to add bits, do some polish all the better…

Remember on the 15th, WvW leagues are coming as well, plus a big balance patch with a lot of changes to traits/skills.

I want to see the old content. It’s temporary so it doesn’t wear out like permanent content and to have it return reduces the pressure to get it done because there is always next year (the psychological pressure of temporary content hinders my gaming experience).

It seems like the story elements of Halloween are going to be new (the Prince plot) but the other festival stuff will largely be the same. I am perfectly fine with this. It gives them more time to work on a more robust story for Halloween or a more robust content patch after Halloween (remember that Tequatl was done by a feature team not a Living Story team so the resources for Boss week could have gone somewhere else, if Halloween is light on new content we might see a bigger update soon to come).

I want the festivals to return mostly intact.

We have some new content in the form of the Bloody Prince story. I’m actually happy that most of the Halloween content is returning, since it gives new players the chance to experience past fun, older players the chance to revisit memorable content (Clocktower anyone?), and it means the devs don’t have to devote so much resources to revamping festival content and can focus on new projects.

I for my part have no problem with all the events from last year returning but there need to be addition. Continue Lore-Expansion Deepen the World(ok the world is packed full of stuff I feel it actually needs more areas but thats offtopic) But that said I would like a chance to finish my mad memoires. I didn’t get around to do it last year.

Arena is spamming content like crazy and yet some people are still not satisfied? Come on guys, I never before seen an MMO where some people claims that developer is releasing new stuff too fast. And such claims are already quite frequent in GW2 coomunity. Next step will be new patch every week and then again someone will jump out and demand even more? Quality over quantity please.

My hope is that there is enough new stuff to keep me entertained. The old stuff is old. To be honest I wish everything would be revamped each seasonal holiday. Can’t wait till year 5 of the same content with one minor story update!

I’m still waiting for the living story to actually give us a story. Random fetch quests and achievement quests are really not doing it for me any more. Home instance is lacking and aside from what will be 2 nodes you can mine each day what is the point to having it?

With all that said I hope they prove me wrong and have this update actually be something that has some substance.

Repeating (for the most part) Holiday content is just fine by me, there are alot of players in my guild who haven’t seen it yet. In that respect it will be all new content for them and a fun time for us older players.

I love seeing old stuff return alongside new content. Why waste the older stuff on a single event when they can bring it back? We get to see the return of favorites and new players get to experience it as well.

I am confidant there will be enough new stuff to keep everyone occupied.

I really hope they do reimplement for the upcoming halloween event all of the old content back into the game.

For example the achievements, so that we can go on hunting for pumpkins again for all of those of us, which didn’t carved enough of them last year for the title (or those of us, like me, who got their achievement RESET to 0, after some stupid bug that got fixed by anet, but which screwed up alot of halloween achievements for many people – mainly that one with the pumpkin collecting thing – also too and didn’t got fixed afterwards until today >.>)

I also want to see again the oppurtunity to go out and collect all of these parts to make that flaming book back item, because last year I couldn’t make one, because my character wasn’t simply strong enough and didn’t explore the world enough to go into the harder mid level maps with lvl 50+ enemies to get the needed parts for the final version of the book backitem.

Now ive enough max level charas to redo that event and i want to get that back item flamign book “necronomicon” for my Necromancer!!

Then I’d like to see getting this pvp minigame again with the haunting spirits where you have to survive as long as possible, which kind of was similar like the survival minigame that got introduced later on inm GW2 a few months ago, but I think the halloween version made alot more fun and it was the first and onl<y minigame, what was funyn and also gave you for your Kills points towards PvP titles…

I think this is also something anet has to improve to give a bigger incentive for PvE’s to do Pvp kind of content, that within this kind of minigames pvE#s should have also some ways to gain points for the Pvp stylish achievements like the Slayer Achievement, which counts just PvP kills of any sort …
But also the class related pvp achievements should hopefully count this time.

I think Anet should merge that way slightly a bit more PvE together with PvP, because why should most of all those achievements be only gainable through doing SPvP, when just plain PvP gameplay could do the job for everybody, regardless if you are now a mainly PvE player or PvP player.

Example: When I participate in such a Pvp haunt minigame and our side wins the match and I play that minigame in the moment as a thief, i should not only gain poits towards the Slayer Achievement, but also a point towards the Shadow Achievement, due to participating the PvP match and winning it as playing a thief …

That way would also have PvE players a way to work on these achievements, without havign to be forced to have to play SPvP, because for me is PvP = PvP, regardless if I do it now in a knd of season minigame, or if i do it in SPvP with a preset gameplay mechanic that requires of players only to conquer specific points and hold them to gain points for the group…

Same goes for gaining glory, I think if I remember right last years halloween gave people also glory for kills in the halloween pvp minigames, or ??
If I remember wrong, then Anet should change that, as it would be a nice incentive for PvE’ers to participate in the halloween pvp content, if you could earn with them also in that time glory and have an alternative entertaining way to do so, as long as halloween is there in the game.

And for the sake of this game, please no new super frustrating new achievements, nothing that tries to force people to do again that ridiculous clock tower JP, if they want to get some kind of new achievements, please let that JP out for them.
If you want to add new achievements to the game for halloween this year – and I’m 100% sure you will do so, then please, let it all be stuff, that you can do just normally without having to do that JP again, except you still need to do it at least successfully once, to get the achievement from last year, if you haven’t successfully done it once last year.
