Is this behavior that is condoned by Anet? It throws off a lot of the balancing in the game. I’ve seen many complaints about how powerful the ghosts are, but not very many on the achievement farmers / griefers that purposely become ghosts and completely prevent any possibility of a villager victory.

I just had a very long conversation in game that just ended with them calling me names. Because I think that’s all farmers know how to do. They cant actually come up with a good argument to defend their position so i’m just being a big crybaby about it.

Just ignore them and draw out the game as long as possible. They can’t report you because you’re playing the activity exactly as was intended, and if they get too abusive you can report THEM.

The damage is still done, they spoiled my fun, because they want to end the game as fast as possible so they get as many chests as possible.

It’s the reason I didn’t want achievements in lunatic inquisition in the first place. Last year the only people there were the people that wanted to play the game, so it was actually a game.

I made a thread talking about this yesterday.

The existence of this behavior just illustrates the need to tweak the rewards system that is currently in place. Surviving a match is an admirable feat, and should have rewards to reflect this.

Definitely isn’t just a matter of ignoring. Despite being so powerful, ghost team has a weak early game because of how outnumbered the one guy is. It should be a challenge to get the first few kills if villagers have any semblance of teamwork.

If ghost team starts off with half as many players as the villagers, it’s GG. Some of us do like the excitement of a game where we try to survive ‘til victory rather than survive ’til 4 minutes remaining and everyone’s already dead and chasing you alone.

The game is poorly designed, it’s not the players or rewards fault.

Blame anet for designing it the way it is.

Running in circles for 10 minutes waiting for the INEVITABLE victory isn’t fun.

It’s pretty much impossible to lose as a ghost. Basically the last person standing just misses a reward, as their reward.

Maybe for you it’s not fun? Some of us like the thrill of using our wits and improvisation skills to survive numerous powerful ghosts chasing us down. The problem comes from the fact that it’s not possible to do so for an extended amount of time, so people purposely suiciding throws things completely out of balance.

Also, the last person standing receives a bonus reward, if they’re the final survivor.

I don’t believe the game is poorly designed, either. It’s just that this year they made a poor decision to incentivize point farming. That’s a major part of the problem.

They could simply go the other way and create achievement rewards for making plays as a villager, and that might help things.

What incentive is there for the villagers to win? Running around the map until the timer runs out is very boring. Besides, villagers rarely win even if people didn’t purposely kill themselves at the start. People killing themselves at the start does not put you at a disadvantage. It’s so easy for a ghost to find a villager and kill them.

I consider these people griefers. I think a system should be in place that will not reward a player if they get less than, say, 100 points. That should also slightly discourage hiding.

Otherwise it’s just the design of the game. It’s not a bad minigame at all; I find it very interesting, and the item-finding events engaging. It is weak to griefers and farmers. S’all. Rewards could probably be a bit higher for villagers who survived.

You get a bonus reward at the end. Just survived the game for the first time today and got it.

you get so many more points if you’re alive and are able to engage in battle with a ghost, especially if you win. If the ghost isn’t very good, I can get 150ish points from a single fight.

I started as ghost one game. I just kept using mad king says, and generally tormenting people. I was careful not to kill anyone. I wanted to see how many points I could get by terrorizing and punishing folks who didn’t do emotes. Then someone must have jumped off a cliff.. Because people started being killed by another ghost. Ruined my fun.

jumping off a cliff doesn’t kill you, though I believe you can talk to the mad king to turn yourself into a ghost.

If you talk to the Mad King as a villager he will tell you to get lost.
Jumping off a cliff is a good way to escape.
