I really liked how it was before, because I used the key to find the closest target quite often, for example to find a flower to rally in TA. But now… it just targets whatever it wants .. aka boss or vets..

What’s the purpose of having a key that is supposed to look for the closest target that does not show you the closest target? Really? :S

This issue has been reported many times over in the Bugs forum. It has also been responded to by a dev and it is being corrected, we just need to give it some time.

I actually like the priority targeting. The only problem I have with it is it will give me “priority targets” that are well out of my range.

yes. it’s also inconsistent. I might be approaching the champ but still out of range and it’ll target the non-agro’ed risen out of visibility off to the left instead.
it should at least target something that you are looking at.

Yeah, it can be a bit… unpredictable if you use auto-targeting. It has a tendency to target some unaggro’ed enemy standing farther away, drawing him into the battle and making things worse.
