Q:
Tassi's VA and the writer of this Event
A:
Greetings!
Julie Nathanson is the voice actor for Tassi.
Here’s a reply on behalf of one of our writers about the Halloween content.
John Ryan, WriterHi. That would be me. My name is John Ryan, and I wrote the narrative VO and text for Blood and Madness. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks.
I also did write the Dead Stop shield inscription. Well, you could say transcribed it from a certain regent cackling over my shoulder.

The Halloween content both last year and what we have seen so far this year has been simply stellar.
I really did appreciate how you broke the fourth wall during the Bloody Prince’s monologue about his father (when he criticizes the players for enjoying King Thorn’s events so much). It was bloody brilliant.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the story you guys came up with so far. Make more use of John!

I enjoyed the Tassi instance and story too, nice voices and for one that follows the events around mad king since gw1, i am interested about the lore and plot thats evolving around his son.
Please more of this level of storytelling (even if its short – imho its the best plot in the LS so far). For me its the only part of this years halloween that meets the expectations i had from last year.
Playing the later parts of this story will be my main motivation to finish the metaachievement. (I will QQ/rage on other threads about my disappointments, just want to give credit where its deserved). Well done!
The VO for tassi is excellent. She is clear, precise and has emotion.
Tell her she was fantastic and hope to hear more of her VO’s in the future!
The Tassi story is the best part of this year’s Halloween event so far! I want more Blood Prince!

There’s just something about this Halloween LS that makes me happy. Whether it’s the atmosphere, the jokes of Mad King and his son…
I don’t know, I just love it.

Here Here, agreed on both accounts. Great VA and juicy writing so far!
The prince actually made me laugh out loud. Also love the banter between Mad King and his Son.
Been following John Ryan for a while now, great writer.
I also want to know what the shield says now. lol

Ah, thanks for information!
Yes one more thing – the inscription on the Dead Stop shield is much too small and/or blurry to translate correctly.

I will protest the theory of it breaking the “fourth wall”. That part you’re describing is a comment directed towards Tassi’s remarks about how Tyrians enjoy the Mad King’s jokes last year on Halloween. The comment in no way directly references the player as an audience member, which is what breaching the fourth wall is.
A good example of Fourth Wall breaking is what Family Guy does many times in referencing Fox; another example is Robot Chicken in it’s “you’re canceled/you’re renewed” sketches. Direct reference that what you’re viewing is a show, and that you’re an audience.
I find the voice acting from Tassi’s and the Bloody Prince to be top notch, and the writing to be very natural as well. I also like the subtle Portal homage you guys have going through Tassi’s golem’s communicades. Overall very well presented.

Loved her VO demos. Nice to see the other stuff she’s done also. I remember Ethene in KoA:R, nice to know that it was her that voiced her.

Regina, who did the VO of The Bloody Prince?
His voice sounds awfully familiar.
What’s the translation?

The lore behind the Thorn family is actually pretty cool. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of this kind of content, lorewise I mean.
The only quirk I saw was Tassi acted like Mad King Thorn’s appearance last year was just one of a regular cycle – she seemed a bit oblivious to the fact he hadn’t been seen in hundreds of years prior to last year’s singular appearance.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

I’m really, really loving this story! Reminded me of: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crown_Prince_Sado. The dialogue was very entertaining x). Kudos to the writer!

Bloody Prince Edrick Thorn was voiced by Neil Kaplan. He’s done various voices in Guild Wars 2 (charr, norn, etc.) but we figured he’d be a good fit for this character.
