Tone DOWN viscount AOE corn
What Ameepa linked. You’re not doing the fight right, stand in the brown candy and get coated. Then you not only survive Viscount’s AOE, you’ll do a lot more damage to him as well. Just look at his HP meter when the brown candy ends up right on the melee. It’s no coincidence that it starts dropping down quickly then.
Yeah man, why didn’t you think to stand in one of his aoe attacks to get a protective buff? Its like you just assume that Viscount plays by the same rules as every other boss in this game. Viscount doesn’t care about your rules. He also heals you with his punches.
Actually not unique. This is a very similar mechanic to the Priest of Grenth fight. It is also not an AoE attack, the pools of glaze do not have a circle nor do they do any damage.
A fight that involves actual fight mechanics instead of just ‘throw more bodies’ at it and not trivially ignored(I guess enough Feedback does make it trivially ignorable as well) is a good thing.

Yeah, I also learned that about the Skeleton Lich last night too. We knocked him into one of those houses and his rate of gaining health was equal to our DPS. After hitting him for about 15 minutes and realizing this wasn’t going anywhere, we backed off, brought him out into the open where everyone could attack him and had more success.

I noticed it didn’t have a red circle, so I gave it a try, and it gave me a buff, just like all other non red circles that other players throw down. Sometimes you have to think outside of your preconceptions and try new stuff.
Also, if you do the story, Tassi tells you to stand in the candy goo to get a buff so you can hurt the Bloody Prince, it’s the same candy goo that the Viscount throws down.

You mean the story you can do only after completing 13 achievments, amongst them, one for killing said Viscount?
The candy goo doesn’t seem to occur as often as the aoe, although admittedly, much of the problem is that people don’t understand the mechanic.

The candy pools always precede his AOE projectile attack. Sometimes they’ll spawn one right below him, sometimes four spread out a bit, but always before his AOE projectiles.

A valid point but also a correction. You do not need to fight the viscount to be able to do that encounter. It will take longer but each daily includes two LS task and completing those will contribute towards the meta. In addition to that you can just piggyback off of someone who has already completed the meta.

The candy goo is for the candy projectiles. You still have to dodge/walk out of the normal red circles.
