So I just got to thinking about how absurd it is to acquire these Halloween weapon skins and the reaction to it on here.

And then I remembered the Wintersday weapons in GW1. Where they were fun silly (functionally useless) weapons that could be easily acquired by anyone doing the holiday content.

Why can’t there be a compromise? What if, say there was a set of costume brawl weapons that anyone could get for a meager investment of candy corn? Say 25-50 for a toy weapon.

I’m not big on town clothes and stuff myself but honestly I’d be a lot more charitable and happy with this Halloween if there was some fun souvenirs I could get from it without farming my face off or dropping tons of cash/gold in the gem store/TP.

I agree there. The christmas 2012 was the best when it came to skins, IMHO… you had the big pretty weapon skins you could get on the gem store, and then you had the fun silly ones that were very easy to get… and heck, my mesmer is still using the princess wand..

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

I love that princess wand for the Mesmer.

For the costume items to have a better ‘use’, we probably need instanced events. Like a Ball, a Brawl arena, a Personal Instance Fete etc. Somewhere you can go that benefits from all that whacky stuff we get BUT ALSO allows you to earn more in a fair and fun way.

Don’t get me wrong, going out into the world to do Holiday Events is awesome I just think that for some things we can get it needs to be a defined set of objectives we can actually complete. There is very little balance from ANet with this stuff, its either really easy, almost unattainable in the games lifetime OR gated by RNG shenanigans.
