i have made it to the top several times, i wait till the window smashes open but everytime i jump in it i just fall down, it has happend 8 times already and with other people aswell, it’s very annoying, fix it Anet

You need to jump just before/just as the lightning strikes the tower. Also make sure you’re not jumping too early. My first few times through I forgot you sometimes have to wait a couple revolutions before the lightning strikes.

4 times now it hasn’t let me in. I tried it early, I tried it late. I tried it on the spot, every time it hasn’t worked. This is getting VEEERY irritating.

Depending on your latency, the actual window could be opening multiple seconds before you actually see it.

From personal experience last year, I’ve had instances bug, where although others could jump through the window, I could not. In this case, you have to leave and join a new instance. I think there was an animation glitch with the first set of gears (where everyone has to wait) that could be used as a tell for when the instance is bugged.

yes after 9 tries and I did it. Look at this video above, jump after lightning destroy shield, not before. Jump exacly when shield is in the same position as you.

Did it normally. Sadly it’s absolute same tower, but with wisps which made it’s too easy

Last year I was jumping with a Norn and could not get into tower when lightening struck. This year I’m jumpint with an Asura and getting in. Shouldn’t make a difference, but if you can’t get in try a smaller character for the hell of it.

Same thing…. over 10 consecutive succesfull runs till the tower..tried every possible trick.

@Anet how hard is it to code that hole, to be bigger? I can google the changes u need to make if u need help with it…that’s why we are a community right?

If you manage to time it right you can mix dodging and jumping to gain a small distance boost.

Will just try to go into another instance of the clock maybe this one i am in is bugged.

Again..this should NOT! be a matter of luck or exploiting some glitches. All they had to do is make that hole bigger. That’s it.

Maybe also try turning your graphics settings down to best performance, no shadows, no post processing. Maybe there is a graphic lag throwing you off.

idk what to tell you man. I jump normal wait for the window to break and gets me in everytime. Its kinda boring now :/

20 tries, and each time I reached the Clock tower only to fail at the final jump. This was on my Asura. I swapped to another character (human), and on my first try succeeded with no trouble.

I’d recommend swapping to another character, as simply attempting to join another instance didn’t resolve the issue.

It is indeed bugged, as I landed the jump time and time again only to fail.

Ok, now I’ve joined the club. Last year I could not get in. This year I got in on my first time up. Now, I changed characters and 3x can not get in. I have no understanding what is different. Turned down graphic seettings. Maybe will character swap again and see what happens.

i remember last year that I stand about 1 or 2 stairs down and i run a bit before the jump
otherwise i couldn’t make it. see if that helps unless they change something.

Got up there three times. First try I jumped one rotation too early. The clock shatters when it passes you for the third time (unless you’re really slow the last bit of the way since you’ll have to wait at the last round platform/cog).

Second and third time I jumped till I saw the clock returning for the third time and I just jumped when I knew it would be right in front of me in ~1-2 seconds. Got in there every time; also it seems like you don’t really have to hit the hole specifically. Both times I clipped through the wall left to the hole and got in/ported.

There is no pressure on that jump and it seems odd that you can do the same thing and get mixed results.

Last year my Norn could not get in no matter how I timed the jump or where I stood.

This year, my Asura just hopped right in, the very first time without doing anything special.

Right after that, my Sylvari failed to get in there 6 times. Now, she got in. I don’t know if it was pure luck but I had:

1. Turned my graphics down to best performance.
2. Turned off sound.
3. Pressed Control-Shift-H to get rid of UI.
4. Stood at very VERY edge of step, almost falling off, to get ready for jump.
5. Jumped (no dodge) the split second I saw face crack.

I LOVE this jumping puzzle but won’t do it anymore because of that face.

i can confirm that i tried more than 20 times smashing my guardian face on every angle of the clock tower window, then i switched to my elementalist, and he got in at FIRST try….

It’s a bugged instance, try and relog into another instance. You can tell if the instance is bugged by the first time gate: At the beginning when you wait for the platforms to fall in to place, if the platforms freeze for a second right before settling, the instance is bugged. You will be able to get to the top but I have found it impossible to actually jump into the broken clock face.

I’ve found the tower to be laggy the past few days. I have 2 timings I use, one when servers are laggy and one for when they are operating properly.

When not laggy, after the first clockface appears, I usually wait until the 7th of the 8 sides appears and then jump (a split second before the lightning bolt and the clockface comes into view). This timing works fine and is reliable, I’ve gotten 6 perfect runs in a row this way.

When laggy, I find that I need to wait until the clockface appears the second time and then jump, i.e. the time it takes for another side to rotate into view.

The sign of lag for me is when you start the puzzle and get to the point where you have to stop and wait for a couple of seconds for new ledges to appear before going on. If those ledges pause for a second as they form then the server is laggy. Sometimes you can get around this by exiting and starting a new instance, sometimes you end up getting into the same instance again.

My experience may not apply to those geographically near the servers and on fast internet connections only a few network hops away . I’m from Australia and so my latency is typically bad to the U.S. even though I have good internet.
