ANet using old ideas?
One of the main reasons they decided to make GW2 was to have the infrastructure to implement ideas that could not be handled in GW1 or EotN.
So it’s not very surprising to see that a concept that was unable to be implemented 5-6 years ago in GW1 was saved for GW2.
I’m still waiting for my chronomancer

These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”

True enough, but I’d like to see new ideas being used instead of old ideas.
However I 200% agree with Chronomancer, most badbutt class concept art ever.
too me just looks like some artist just having fun with his free new 2000$ tablet
I’m a bit confused. Why would using old concept art be a bad idea? Actually why would implementing something that was first conceptualized 5 or even 10 years ago be a bad idea?
I like how they are breathing some life into the Utopia concepts for GW2.
Companies do this type of stuff all the time. Maybe a character idea or setting just doesn’t work well with the established title, but when making something new (either for the title or just a new one itself) certain gems can be uncovered in the dust of history.
I would love to see more Mayan/Incan/Atzec influences in this game.
Some important aspects of guild wars 2 mesmer:
- Create clones of itself.
- Distort space.
- Teleport
- Speed up time.
- Burst damage.
- Pets.
Some important aspects of gw1 mesmer that gw2 mesmer perhaps can’t do very well:
- Slow down casting time of enemy spells.
- Cause health degeneration.
- Steal energy.
- shutdown.
- Hex them so that they have to think twice before using a particular skill. (Gw2 mesmer could do so as well before the confusion nerf)
I think you have your chronomager, but with a mesmerish twist.
