Adnul needs another nerf it's just not fun.
For those that really love gambling away their stuff in the Mystic Forge, they will love this game. It has no strat, it’s all just completely random chance that you win. I was going to say that it’s bugged but Anet insist it’s suppose to have spam-able special abilities that make the NPCs unbeatable 98% of the time.
I call it padding.
Making it long to beat just so it looks like the content last longer than it really does.
Use the corsair special ability, it reduces the damage in which you take for the next three swigs. Other then that fake your way and do anything to avoid actually drinking…. I kind of wanna try that rich smoky flavour of ale that Adnul mentioned, just the thought of drinking that makes my taste buds water.
To tell the truth I coupled this with real world drinking. Made it much more bearable… though the morning after we will not speak of.
(side note — can we get enough townsfolk to get torches and pitch forks to throw Adnul into Kralkatorrik’s lair?)
I beat him, but I would be completely okay with a nerf to him. I will say that Adnul takes more skill than people give him credit for, but players with luck can beat him easily. The key is to time his belches and his waters. Don’t try healing if you know he has a belch up. Don’t constantly use bluff when he’s not using critique because you will want to always have a belch up. Don’t waste your 3 and 4 skills.
When you get to 2k health, make sure you have a water available or at least in 1 turn. Use your boast skill and then drink to 1k health and then heal.
Your finishing move will always be a belch. Don’t waste turns using water unless you have to while he was Critique up. You want to have belch and Drink available at least once everytime he uses it.
I don’t think it’s as much luck as people say. It’s all about timing. The only issue is that sometimes he’ll drink when you time it right and he should heal so you waste your belch, or you use a drink when you wanted to heal because you thought he’d belch at you. Also, there are times where he’ll use Critique instantly after it wore off. But that doesn’t happen all the time.
It’s a challenge, but it can be done. It’s not something you’re expected to get after your first try. I absolutely hated the challenge, but when I finally beat him, I realized it was a lot of fun.
I gave up on him. Only one I need now to get to Poy. After spending hours trying to beat him I finally snapped and walked away. I would say that he is pretty much the same, even after his nerf. He seems to have the ability to always stop me bluffing and everytime I try to drink water he stops me. I have no debuff on me to say he has belched, yet I am stopped from healing.
After 10 matches i won.. out of pure luck. Even after patch he often spams his special move where I got only one shot of special move.
I can understand the frustrated players and I can only say keep on trying. He eventually makes a mistake since the usage of his move seems to be random.
Compared to him, the master belcher was really easy.
The reason Adnul is much harder than the master is that he is so random. There is no clear pattern and he wins because he takes almost no damage from drink, heals massively from water and uses Critique like he’s judging the next oscar nominees.
The contest is completely RNG. There is a small amount of strategy in trying to guess when to belch and avoiding heals when his belch is up, but his extremely high health, unlimited special ability and random moves mean that you HAVE to get lucky, and multiple times at that, to win this fight.
It’s not a good minigame against these npcs, against a player it’s great, because it’s even, but the npc contests are terrible, either ridiculously hard with adnul or 2 spam fests for every other character.
Allowing players to use all special moves in this fight might introduce enough strategy to make it enjoyable.
Maybe I am really bad at this but I usually win all the time when dueling players, but this one took me almost 2 hours. It is really weird comparable to boss, which I took down first time.
After so many tries, I figured out the secret to winning is starting with a belch instead of a bluff. Oh and take the one that reduces damage for drinking 3 drinks.
Engineer and Elementalist in progress…
On the one side:
it sucks to change the enemies (then some players wastet about one hour or even more and others get it “for free” (a manual will be available within no time) and the title loses some of it’s value because it is “easy” and everyone has it)
and you get a title for this (so a hard enemy should be part of it – or else the title will be equal to “had some time for this”)
and there is a little pattern (like first/next water, … same for belching, …) – it is just harder to find than copy cat/kill yourself by drinking too much/… and you need some tries to have a good start and find the time he switches his pattern
and you need to count when his skills will be reenabled and you have to use some easy patterns yourself (quick enabling water/belch – depending on what you need)
on the other side:
yes, it was a little hard… too hard for a “game”
much more hp than the player and infinite use of his special skill
the title (as it is) should be renamed to “Ultimate luck”
2nd: the other six classes 80
standby: G 80/ M 50 / T 45/ W 35 / …
