Just wondering are these common enough to get as a drop etc. or should I just go and but one in the TP?

Just run the race like 30 times, you should get one

I’ve ran about 40 races now and have gotten quite a few rares but no skins. I’d try a bit, especially if you are going after the crowd favorite achievement, and if you don’t want to run it anymore then buy one.

Did 15 races so far, 2/3 of the catcher skins.

Sadly the one I want, wind, still eludes me

I got sun and wind. You can also buy them off TP but wind one is costy it has the best effects

I ran the races 25 times for the Crowd Favorite achievement. No skins at all.

Not a complaint, if I decide I want one I can still get it via fortune scraps (a really nice change from the pure RNG of jade weapons). Just saying it doesn’t seem to be quite as common a reward as some of the posts here indicate.

Or I’m just supremely unlucky, which I can’t really rule out.

Good that Anet made dopped skins sellable so if you are unlucky just do couple CoF

Did 25 races and got 2 lightening. Not sure what the odds are but they seem to be about 5%.

The sanctum sprint ones can be got off the TP for a few gold, probably less by the time the event ends.

My goodness I ran 25 races and got zero catcher skins and two rares. Good thing I don’t really care for the look of any of them.

I ran 40 races, no skins, but my rng luck is terrible. 500 + ectos to get 77 mystic clovers taught me that lol

Race number 65 yielded my first catcher skin, the sun one… I am now closer to 80 and haven’t gotten a second drop.

About 40 races, 2 suns and a wind. Toss in you get 10s a race plus some items you can sell and either you will get one as a drop or earn enough to buy one from the TP. The race is a win/win and it’s fun.

No you do not need to win. All of mine have come from finishing 4th or worse.

That many races you should have enough coin to buy one off the TP now.

Well that’s 75 now, no skin. I continued to run as a matter of principle hoping to win a skin. I was 1st in 19 of my last 20 races (though I let someone else win) so it’s not really even challenging anymore. I think I’m just gonna have to give up. You win this round, ANet RNG.

After 75 races you should have made close to 7.5 gold not counting loot you could sell. Then you can go to the TP and buy one.

Well get to racing then. I’ve found that where you place has no affect. I got my first one finishing 10th and the others all no better than 5th.

I got a a sun and a wind in 30 races. In one of my races, I just decided to cross the finish line to get first instead of waiting just to see if it made a difference in the chest and that was when I got the wind one. I think I will keep going for first.

I got 3 wind catchers now. I’ve won a fair few races and never ever gotten anything from that. 6-12 places are where all my catchers came from (but lol, whenever you get to 12 place, game will spam light travels at you :P).
