Seeing as I have 8 level 80 characters, how is this going to help me in any way sense or form ?… I’d have to buy a new character slot, use the scroll, and buy some stones or wine or something with the points and delete my character after, to get any use from this.

I was thinking the exact same thing. 8 slots, all chars 20+. How about swapping for a +10 levels scroll

It’s all free crap. I “can’t” use some of the stuff I got but o well, it was free and it everyone gets the same thing and I’m sure it will be useful to some of the people who get it.

You get a black lion key for completing the level 10 portion of your story, don’t you? Would probably take only about 10-15 minutes.

The rewards in these chests appear to be designed to provide items for most aspects of the game. Many people like making new alts. It is just like the PvP gear. I will never ever play PvP. I used deposit all collectibles and now it is in some locker I will probably never look at. It certainly wasn’t anything to complain about since those items came with several items I can use. Plus you never know, they may make a new profession or race someday and it might come in pretty handy then.

Look at it like this:

1. Before last update achievements get you nothing.
2. After the update achievements get you stuff, usually a little bit of everything.

I’ll take the later thank you. I really love it when people go out of their way to find things to complain about.

It’s not exactly “free” Cellach, its 5000 achi points of work and you get it in a mixed bundle, but even a crafting booster is better than this, since I can waste a bit of gold and get some extra skill points in the process.

And I don’t see your point Rottram Owain, I still have all my slots maxed out, I’m not gonna buy a new slot to farm keys or to use the scroll on a profession I already got at lvl 80.

Look at it this way. If the scroll had not been included in that mixed bundle you would not have come to the forum to complain about getting one, would you? Just put it in your bank in the event you should ever decide to roll a new alt or delete it and pretend you never got it. Problem solved.

But it is free….unless using the chest is depleting your achievement points somehow….you lose absolutely nothing and gain a bunch of stuff. You really want to complain that one of the items you got isn’t usable for you personally?

I bet you that the experience scroll will be useful to at least 90% of the population. More so than say, the PvP chests that drop a bunch of skins you will never use and/or skins you already have. I’ve destroyed so many PvP skins since this achievement chest thing started. Am I complaining? Nope….it’s free stuff, why the kitten would I complain about it.

I’m so disappointed with the faction of the player-base that feels that this free stuff is useless.
It’s free. Before they announced the Achievement rewards you were getting nothing but your name on a leaderboard.
If you don’t like the rewards, DELETE.
Also, you may only play one character (or a handful) now, but can you say with 100% certainty, you’ll never make another alt… especially if you still have one of the 5 original open Character slots available (I know the Op said he’s used them all, but others may not have).
I’ll bet you’ll be thanking the Dev’s on the day when your new toon jumps to 20 and you’re able to calk-walk through the low level stories to get your BL key (level 10 story reward).

so you are complaining for something you got for free for an archievemnet you might have finished months ago and which until now was bringing you nothing else than personal satisfaction? Ever heard of expression never looks a gift horse in the mouth??

If you have no use for it then delete it, and keep in mind that these reward are given to all players who archieve 5K, not just you, and that for every grumpy ungrateful player like you, there will be one who will be chuffed with it. Those who will complain are probably the same whining about Arenanet not giving their customers enought recognision and reward. there’s just no pleasing some people

Typical of this society where people sense of entitlement make them think it’s all about themselves and stop them appreciating what other people try to do for them… grow up!

I have 6 lvl 80, and I will use this reward on my #7 and I thank Arenanet for it

I quite don’t get these ppl complaining cuz the FREE stuff they got is not useful to them.

Geez, if you found the time/gold to make 8 (yes, EIGHT) characters to lv 80, I think this should not tick you.

Enjoy the skins, the gold, the extra stats, the boosters, the badges and the other long list of things you got FOR FREE and carry on..

I see these chests as the freebies you get in the shows and conventions: Keep what it is useful for you, throw away the rest.

As someone who has leveled 10 characters to 80 (by various means) I’m happy to have this scroll, when I eventually get around to making another character (because I have a serious alt-o-holic problem) I’ll love having this for an instant 20 levels. Thanks ANET!

And as mentioned by others, it’s free stuff you can delete if you don’t need/want. Try looking at the good side….at least you are being rewarded for your achievements points. You could have gotten nothing at all.

The point of these scrolls was given in the initial post.

I have over 7500 and only 3 of my 8 chars are 80. 3 of them I haven’t really touched much beyond Spvp.

It’s relevant to BotFW because it came out during this release. That’s about it.

That is just the way it was timed. I imagine they worked it in as part of the patch that launched the event, a package deal. This is a living story forum and the achievement chests are entirely separate from the living story.

Personally I hope Anet deletes 7 of your characters and delevels the one remaining character to lvl 1.

Then you can use your scroll!

I’m holding on to mine till we get new professions. Instant level 20 sounds really nice for that.

Yes it is.

It’s a BONUS, a pat on the back – a congratulations for reaching 5000 – and anyone at 5000 could be in any situation so there are items that are good for multiple things.

If you were actually PAYING the 5000 AP to get it, I could see a complaint. But you’re not. It’s just a reward for hitting a certain point.

The rewards are an incentive to push ahead and try new things, but if you’re grinding to 5000 AP just to get these rewards that’s pretty silly. None of the rewards that are exciting or game breaking – and the item you mention falls into a “stocking stuffers” type category – whereas the skins are more of the “gifts”. Yeah, so what you got toothpaste in your stocking ? You got other stuff too.

ANet can’t know your exact situation and what exactly you want – so it’s a mixed bag. You whine about getting this, but someone else might whine about a crafting booster and would have preferred this. What everyone should be doing is just chilling out and viewing it like free gifts – no one was entitled to anything in particular, you weren’t robbed of anything – you got an EXTRA thing you don’t want. So what ? Just get rid of it if it pains you that much.

It’s like winning a free vacation, car, and baby cradle but whining that you don’t have a baby and never will. So what ?

I get that it’s free and everything, but likely someone who achieves 5,000 achievement points already has a couple level 80’s, and has no problem with the first 20 levels. As for mine, It’ll sit in my bank and wait until the 9th profession comes out.

My opinion, it is free and a nice gift. Shouldn’t complain just because you can’t use EVERY item. All of this has been said before though.

My question to the OP, why is this in the Bazaar of the Four Winds forum? Those chests have nothing to do with that living story. It is simply and update to the game as a whole.

I have 5500 achieve points, and I only have 1 alt above level 20. I play mostly my level 80, and Ive only craft levelled my other alt to level 55. You don’t need many characters to get to 5500 achievement points. (Most of the other alts I made just to see what the class is like and soon abandoned them)

It amazes me how hard people seem to look to find things to complain about.
I get glory boosters all the time with no use for them. Do you see me whining? No. It’s free stuff. That chest also gave you 400 gems, 15 gold and 500 badges. I think you’re fine.

(As I have all my slots filled and the characters are over the scroll’s level limit, I’m saving mine in the hopes that one day Skritt will become a playable race. I’d buy an extra slot for that.)

Delete it or keep it in case you decide to make a new character (maybe there will be a new race or class in the future).

I don’t play sPVP so have no use for PVP skins or glory boosters. I’m not going to complain about getting some tho especially not when its with a whole bunch of stuff that is actually useful for me. The chest are designed to provide stuff for people who play any aspect of the game. For most people there are probably gong to be a few things in it they don’t want.

4700 achi points. only 2 lvl 80s, the scroll will be very usefull when i get to it

I have 6300~ ap. About 1000 hours played. My main is a warrior with about 90% of those hours. My next highest character is level 35.

It will be useful to me. Just because you don’t see a use for it doesn’t mean there isn’t one. I really appreciate having the item and like the idea of saving a bit of time on a new character if I ever decide to make it.

For those of you with all 80s… maybe it’s to encourage alt characters for the rest of the player base. There’s no timer on the scroll, so save it for whatever a new playable race is released. Free stuff is nice.

Skill points will become part of future gear and legendary recipies, so leveling even at 80 is valuable.

Not really sure what scroll OP is talking about, I´m only halfway to my 4k chest.

It’s a scroll that will auto-level a character to 20 if they are under 20 when using it. So those at max 80’s can’t use it.

I actually -like- leveling, getting the map unfogged as I go. So even if I do have an alt I want to level, I’m not likely to use the scroll. Still I can see it as quite the boon for those weary unto death of the starting areas. Though for those saying hold onto it for when a new race comes out — do you really want to skip all the new stuff at the start? I know I don’t!

It was useful to me, I got 10k+ points, but only one lvl 80, rest is max lvl 30 with some still lvl 2.

~5800 AP and only 2 lvl 80, one of them even exclusive for WvW, so this comes great since it saves me ~30 gold for another WvW char.

I think the point of having rewards for completing achievements was to get people to try some new things. The scroll is useful for people (like me) who want to try out new characters professions.

I’ve got over 5,500 points, but I’ve pretty much only played as a ranger. Having the option to raise one of my long forgotten alts to level 20 is great – they can instantly use traits, have two weapons and a couple of extra skills slots. I’m motivated to try and learn how to play them if I can check out more than just the weapon skills.

Thing is, those first 20 levels tend to be the most enjoyable for me. I think +10 levels that you can use at any point would be more useful to the population as a whole as it would give people more choice and help get past whatever bit they might personally find the most tedious. I’m certainly not complaining, just giving some feedback.
