Stop the timing of the bomb. A player is trying to do the puzzle and if they don’t complete it in 3 min they can’t open the chest at the end. It would help players if you took out the bomb timing limit. It should not go off until you set it off at the end. You also, can retain it in your carrying inventory until you use it or intentionally delete it. There should also be a warning before it is deleted.

The jumping puzzle can be completed without the bomb and will give you the achievement. Doing it with the bomb will give you the chest as a bonus. (Does it contain anything special?)
Well, I didn’t know that before, but I was glad to experience this as I tried to get the kite achievement. I always thought I only can get the jp achievement when I carry this stupid bomb with me. ^^

The bomb makes the puzzle special. You don’t even need the bomb to get the puzzle achievement. The smoke turns red when it’s going to blow soon. Also the chest is just like any other puzzle chest. Blues, greens, and a very rare chance of getting a yellow.

Why would you want to remove it? Just because it’s too hard for you to complete? I practiced that puzzle for an hour until I beat it. I did trial and error each try until I got my path down. The challenge was fun and just right in terms of difficulty.

Considering JP chests give less than useless items, I’m not quite sure why you care so much? I personally did it with the bomb on my first attempt, but a buddy did not. We both got the achievement but he missed out on the 2 Blues and 87c that I got….

A rare dropped off of a griffon for him while we were doing it so he netted a better takeaway in the end anyway.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Personally, I’m glad you can receive the JP achievement without the bomb. I don’t mind that a chest is rewarded separately.
Easy mode = completion achievement points.
Hard mode (timed) = completion points plus chest.
Don’t recall that there was any “tip tool” to explain this difference upon entering the area, but it’s been awhile and I only did it the one time. But it is listed on wiki for those that use it.

The problem is it should be either the timer OR the griffons. The bomb, which doesnt even make sense to be lit until it needs to go off, is too easily blown up by the ton of griffons, plus the periods of imobility when falling. I got mad and finished it without the bomb. I got the kite and achievement, but I also got an anger headache and lighter pockets than I hoped.

I was frustrated with the bomb running originally, but found that when I adapted my utility skills to suit the challenge, that it came down to just being a quick at the turns, jumps and execution of skills. Now it’s very much doable, but still brings out the gameface when I happen to drop in there with a friend. Think of Mad Kings Clocktower or Wintersday… you run and make the jumps without much pause or you fail… similar concept. May take a few tries to get a handle on doing particular parts quickly.

I’ve done the bomb run with mesmer and ranger without much of a problem once I thought about skills to use and gameplanned particular landing spots to minimize griffins reaching me. Some of it you’ll want to plan out, so you know where it is best to make use of each skill and where you should be able to sneak by.

Only one person in the area needs to get to the end with the bomb and the chest will be open to everyone there. If you have a group of people have them slay griffins at the pinch points/drop downs you have trouble with before you get there or mesmers can help with portals to reduce the length of the run. Access to stealth is very useful for the big drops where you are knocked down on landing and for running through pinch points. Also consider any skill that can slow or prevent the griffins ability to get in a quick hit like a block, slow, immobilize or blind. Skills that can be activated immediately without casting time are good for those landings as you can cast them just before landing or just before a griffin hits you to block/blind them.

The chest at the end isn’t the greatest ever, but there is a certain satisfaction from the victorious attempts. Hope these tips help!

Some folks might find getting the bomb to the end a challenge. Leave it as is.
