There’s just one thing that’s bothering me about the new achievement rewards content, and it’s a bit superficial, but still pretty puzzling.

Why is the firey gear set called “Hellfire”? I’m sorry, but since when does “hell” exist in the Guild Wars universe? Why not Baelfire or Foefire or something that actually refers to something in the lore of Tyria and not that of Earth?

If there’s a reasonable answer then great. But I don’t see how this choice of name could be rationalised.

Who said Hell doesn’t exist in Tyria? Hell’s Precipice was a place in the Ring of Fire islands in GW 1. That location is currently in-accessible. There is also Hellmouth Falls in Mount Malestrom. If it makes you feel better, you can assume that Hellfire refers to the fire of Mount Malestrom or the fires in Hell’s Precipice or something like that.

Even if it’s not the Christian “hell”, they can still use “hell” as a word to refer to SOMETHING. Even if something isn’t real, the people in a culture can still have a word to refer to it or an idea or even old myth or whatever.

You know, like the unproven nature of “hell” for the good humans living on EARTH. But yet we still use “hell”… hmm !

Cuz they wanted to name it that, and they liked the sound of it. Accept it. :o
