Kite Fortunes: need advice/help, please
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
um this might not be of much help but they definitely do drop off of mobs. not too often though. However they seem to drop less than the dragon coffers. Also if you do any dungeons you get kite fortunes as a reward. Or at least they drop more there because i got about 5-6 doing cm.
Just play the game as usual, and you might get some. I would recommend doing Events that include large waves, when you can kill a whole ton of mobs at once it tends to greatly increase you chance of getting something individual mobs drop.

I’ve seen one from a random mob and I got three from some 20 supply chests. I have yet to see one from the open-word baskets. That got me thirteen scraps.
So I’ll second the motion for help getting these, maybe even a boost to the drop rate. 250 for a helm with three versions for each armor weight, I’m thinking I’ll be lucky to get one.
They’re pretty darn rare. I personally haven’t seen any from a kite basket, but have seen a few drop off mobs.
I have only gotten two so far – one from a Kite Basket and one dropped from a mob.
However, I haven’t really tried for them so far – I’ve only been to three Baskets and spent 90% of my play time collecting the crystals in the sanctum – so it’s not a good sample.
Just buy the back pieces off the tp probably cheaper in the long run… or you can get heavy loot bags and they have a really high drop rate but the price is pretty high now.
Kite fortune isn’t that hard to farm, I got 5~8 each time from clearing cof entrance(guest on JQ, lots people semi-afk lfg there, triggering tons flame legions spawn every few seconds during the event), with only ~20% mf.
more power to cof farmer I guess.
Problem is if you want to get the festival headgear you need 250 of them.
im at 230~ish scraps mainly from wvw zerg busting
80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]
I can’t believe no one mentioned it so far: you get those in “heavy loot bags” from the tradingpost. Those drop in WvW and include kite fortunes sometimes. The droprate is far more efficient than farming baskets.

Actually I did :P but if all they want is back pieces is it cheaper to buy them off the ah then get the loot bags.
249 scraps after all day working for it! :P wwarrgghh~! 1 more!
Well, to the OP… i don’t really prefer to say “it’s easy to get” after accumulating that much ticket scraps so far, because although i feel happy getting that much, looking back its kind of a struggle to find ONE kite fortune sometimes. I dont run MF gear, i hate hate hate MF on gear, got a little MF through buffs or food though, and getting kite fortunes still seems almost as rare as getting rare items. But thats better than silly jade dragon tickets (still feeling bitter, yeah )
My activities include:
-Personal Story (a fellow guildie almost reaching the lasy, Arah story dungeon part of his personal story)
-Chain events (from frozen Maw in wayfarers to cursed shore stuffs)
-Dungeons and fractals
-I do buy a bit from gemstores too, as I try to get a lotta gold as well.
That said, I got a few from random mobs and some from event mobs in the new area as well but those are fewer. Try opening in bulk, golden ticket is about as nuts as Dragon Jade tickets (or more, i dunno) but its ok because it seems to me a little easier to get a bit less lucky and getting ones with 50 scraps a box instead. (twice i got such).
Dragon coffers were at least really plentiful. These fortunes are just incredibly rare trying to farm them normally. Kite baskets barely drop any. It’s funny that I get more fortunes just killing the mobs on the way to the kite baskets than I do from the kite baskets themselves.
