I think the bazaar of the four winds was poorly implemented…its too geared towards players who like jumping puzzles. I think past metas were much more reasonable.

I like how past metas were mainly geared towards the pve story content. For the shattered holo wings, i could get them by mostly doing the living story instances, the easy to get achievments and 1-2 grindy achievments.

I have to disagree. Anyone in either of my two guilds will tell you that I hate jumping in GW2 more than any person on the planet. That being said, I am having a blast with this new content. After you get past the initial “high” jump using the aspect skill for high jumping, getting to the top was very easy. Even for me and I suck at jumping more than anyone.

At first I thought the same as you because of my jumping hatred, but let’s be fair. Not all content is going to please all people. You have to have something for everyone at least once in a while. If this is the one catered to those who love jumping, then great! They need some love too. Next time it may be for people who love lore or something else. Who knows?

To me the Bazaar is beautiful to look at. It is interesting in content. It also reminds me so much of the things and places I loved in GW1 (Cantha, Elona, Embark Beach, racing games, etc.). I think it is all in how you accept the content. I am sorry you are not enjoying it.

I never said i wasnt enjoying the bazaar of the four winds content, i just think the meta achievement was poorly implemented. I find the new labyrinthe cliffs a interesting and exciting area and i love sanctum sprint and the quaggan show!

I just think its a bit poor judgement to have the meta achievement so geared as it is towards jumping puzzle lovers. Like half of the giant kites are in jumping puzzles and the sky crystals acheivement is a bit of a jumping puzzle in itself. It basically forces people who hate jumping to do jumping puzzles.

I hate jump puzzles and I am terrible at them. However, for some reason I had a good time doing the sky crystals even though it took me over 5 hours LOL. I think it was because of the new skills needed to do them, figuring out exactly where to aim the lightning pull and so forth. I think the fact that I didn’t take armor damages from falling over 100 times made me like it better.

Plus I racked up a ton of XP jumping in on all the Champion spawns for my level 20ish thief.

I still need to get some of those kites to finish the meta but I think someone that is good at jump puzzles is going to help me, with their Mesmer.

Hard content is hard. Getting all achievements is worthy of praise. If I wanted “easy mode”, I’d run CoF.

The crystal hunt would be fine if you didn’t have to get so many of them. That one felt more like it should have been its own meta-achievement. I would have preferred that they pick a handful of the hardest crystal locations as individual achievements instead of having to grind out 40 of them. It’s not the difficulty, it’s the time investment which still only counts as 1 achievement and the “reward” is -1 inventory space or at best nothing if you delete it.

Some of the jumping puzzle achievements (the kite-finding ones) don’t actually require you to do the jumping puzzle fully (or “properly”), it’s worth noting. In particular that one puzzle that sends you hopping about around eagle griffons carrying a bomb that explodes if you’re hit once; you do not need to carry the bomb to get the kite achievement (or the JP achievement for that matter — the bomb gets you the better chest, and nothing else).

Also many mesmers will help you get to the hard to get ones if you’re having trouble.

One thing that has become apparent to me is when you add in jumping abilities to a jumping puzzle type scenario, this game really is ruined for players like me with bad latency. Prior to this event I was ok with what I have to deal with on a daily basis. Now I am on the “give us Oceanic servers bandwagon” in a big way.

The same goes with sanctum sprint. That event looks amazing. But I wouldn’t know due to falling off ledges from latency all the time. It really peeves me off tbh.

agreed, though I’m not a twitch gamer, I do agree with what you said, bit more skill and awareness involved in some of the achievements.

I can see why some people find these achievements too grindy, that’s probably because you’re trying to cram it all in, in a single session – spread your activities out over the week and just enjoy it a bit more, look at the art and environment that artists spent so long to develop.

The Sprint is without a doubt one of the best mini games I’ve played in this game.

The only thing I do disagree with is the way point cost as through trial and error you end up falling a lot getting to those crystals….

Agreed that sanctum sprint is the best minigame thus far. Belcher’s Bluff is likewise a fun addition, especially since you can pop a table anywhere and challenge people to the game.

Those special skills from the game and from the Bazaar map have me all messed up now. I use space for jump normally and more than a few times in the rest of the world I have found my demise by running to a jump and hitting 1 instead LOL.

I also think they went overboard with the JPs in the meta achievement. It really feels like it was tacked on to stretch out the effort and time requirement, in place of any actual story content. (I really hate they call these “living story” when most of them have little or no story content. Why can’t we get the equivalent of 3-4 Personal Story segments with Living Story events)?

Except that you barely need those. Thanks to lightning ability all you need to do is aim somewhat to get your crystals and diving googles. And you can take all your time in order to do the Sanctum Sprint.

My first reaction was “oh god more of this JP crap, dang it… I hate JP. I’m no good at it at all”

Then once I actually started playing in the zone I loved it and had a lot of fun finding all the Sky Crystals. I’m also now addicted to Sanctum Sprint. Coming from a person who -abhors- JP…

But it is not without saying that the skills are -extremely- buggy….

I love the zone and the sprint, requiring additional Jumping Puzzles for the meta-achievement is the issue.

The sad thing is that the zone and the sprint might have nudged some people to be more open to JPs in the future, only to have many walk away from the effort to complete the meta hating them even more. I’ve found that all JPs are less fun than the aspect based approach, which just makes them even more of a drag.

I ADORE jumping puzzles. This wasnt a jumping puzzle.

The possibility of falling doesnt make it a JP, nor does the fact that one skill gives you a jump boost.
This was a scavenger hunt. and you need to use unique skills to find all the items. If they were easy to find or get to it wouldnt be a hunt.
There was very little unassisted jumping and it didnt satiate my inner JP addict.

It was however a very fun scavenger hunt. I hope the next one is underwater.
