I have played sanctum spirit for last 2h, trying to get the victory achievement. After completing numerous races on 2-3rd place I realized that 60% of your finishing position depends more on your luck from the powerups than skill and acutal jumping. I have learned the track and I know exactly how to make each jump/dash yet i still lose most of the races. Mostly because of the numerous lightning storms (up to 3-4 times in a row) and sudden teleportations to checkpoints ahead of me. No matter how hard you try, you can’t do anything about lightning storm spam while jumping. In dragon ball all additonal attack skils had set locations and at least I knew what kind of powerup im picking up, here I have random chance and for most of the time I get blinding light (which is useless in most situations) when my opponents get light travel or aspect master.

My solution for this would be lowering the number of players (12 is too much and the race is a pure chaos for most of the time) or changing the powerups to make it visible from the distance on what it does. Summarizing, rng is ruining another part of the game.

Played it by myself… buggy matchmaking? Got a full match… then another full match. Then 2 matches with 3 only(I one the 2nd) and then 2 matches with 2 only… then I was by myself.. 2 times… left the 2nd one… cause this would seem like exploiting to run it by myself. Also it was boring and I still need achieves for skill uses.

A few tips:

- Watch which bag you run over, the 2 bag types look different, 1 is for offensive skills and the other is for defensive skills.
- Keep the “Grounded” skill (#6, defensive) at hand and activate it before jumps or when you see the lightning animation starts above your character head, that skill will protect you from the next attack within a time frame.

If you happen to get in a race with me, when I get to the finish line first, I wait for someone to cross the line first since I already got the achievement and there is not much difference in chest reward no matter the race placement. I met other people who do this as well. During one race, two other person and I were waiting just before the finish line for the next person to cross, lol

I think my only chance of winning is for 11 people to be as generous and thoughtful as you Zenon. Or I get lucky like Luthan and race against myself!

I wish people were as considerate at this. I was placing 2nd for like 10 matches in a row, but the same 3 people kept beating me always. I was hoping one would be nice and kind of lay back after they won once, but nope, doesn’t happen. lol

I also found grounded helps block the knockback from fake pick-ups. But it is best to save it for jumps. People spamming lighting in jump phases is so bad lol.

I also say RNG has some factor. I always found if I don’t get the aspect buff in the first two or three power up places then there is no way you are going to be first since you don’t get that super long sun travel to blow past everyone. >.<

My first win was a case of a frequent winner letting me pass him near the end. Made my day. Now if i ever end up in first at the end, i too wait for the others to pass me. Share the love i say!

I’ll never get this achievement unless I try in the middle of the night and get lucky to race myself. I’m terrible at such things. 5 races 5 last places. So bad I never even finished and got kicked for taking too much time. LOL

Yeah I’ve considered this tactic. But so far no change in the amount of people depending on time. :P Maybe later in the event it will die down.

At the very beginning of the match, line yourself up to collect the defensive buffs. You can easily get two, sometimes even three, of the aspect boosting skill in order to gain a huge lead. And remember to take the shortcut near the end of the race as well.

Man, I wish I had the luck of running with you guys! For the longest it was me and two other people, and I don’t know whatttt that guy who got 1st every time was on. But sweet crap, he was good. The guy in second would always beat me by a good bit too (this was at like…4am, so I was playing like a doped up bear in the zoo, lol).

In any case, every game once those two would get to the end, they’d grief me endlessly with powerups. I don’t think they realized they were wasting their own time by making the matchups last longer.

So finally at the end I did a little /dance before the finish line and moonwalked slowly across. Little showmanship, yeah? ;D

I agree it’s mostly about luck, the thing I hate the most though is those powerups. They are literally unavoidable and their range is ridiculous, it’s like a 180 radius anywhere close to them. >.<

It’s not mostly luck. I mean yeah, it’s a lot about chances and such, but you can skew the odds in you’re favor well enough that you can score in the top positions fairly often, kind of like counting cards does.

If you don’t have latency/glitches and know what to do+shortcuts and alternate paths, you can get first after a few games provided you 1)get an early leadand 2) don’t fall (since aggressive paths are faster).

That being said, I play on Sanctum of Rall, and I saw waiting by the finish line for those who need first to be fairly common here.

Once I got my first place I have been doing the same, just letting others get it, no difference in the rewards anyway.

As for tips, go for the defensive bags in the beginning over the offensive ones, aspect master skill 2 will let you get a huge lead if used correctly. Also, there are numerous shortcuts you can use while using 1 and 2 together, just have to find them. Hope that helps.

From what I seen. If you get 1st fast and you know the track well, you will most likely win. What mostly screws you are people who are ahead of you. So find a good tactic to take a fast lead and then just play it safe and steady.

I disagree, I win 90% of the matches (over 50 so far), so it can’t be luck based. I don’t even use most of the skills, these are not needed. Only 1, 2 and 3 are enough to win in most cases. 4th is very helpful, but not needed. You can even win if you enter late, or get knocked off a bit (but not too much). In one race I even went afk for a couple of seconds, and when I came back I was surprised to still be first xD

Nuff said.

Spent a few matches with the same person getting 1st, and me always coming in 2nd. Despite my best efforts, they’d just move ahead and place fake traps at every… single…choke point. EVERY, CHOKEPOINT.
How am I suppose to build up a lightning move to hit them when it keeps getting taken away?! Sure grounded will stop me from getting knocked back but I still lose my stuff.

I’ve been hanging back at the end to give players a chance to win, though obviously I can’t make everyone else do the same.

Spend your first few times just learning the track. There’s a few tricks where you can use a light dash and jump to clear some gaps that would normally take longer to traverse. Get used to using grounded as well, since that’s key in shaking off lightning damage, or bombs.

Beyond that, getting an early lead is a really good way of getting a victory. Go for the powerups early on, and spam your light dashes. There’s little risk to using them at the beginning, so it can help a lot. You can use bombs to slow other players down, but if you’re doing well, you shouldn’t need to.

And if you’re having a really hard time with the group you got…just leave and join a new race. You might get some people more your speed. Or at least more generous.

That’s all this game is.
When you start, if you get the Aspect Mastery, you push off ahead. Then all you have to do is grab offensive bags and place traps and every single chokepoint (Especially ones you HAVE to lightning pull to) And you secure victory!

That’s what I did. Pushed ahead, and put traps EVERYWHERE.
Every-Where.
Ended up winning by a good 30 seconds before 2nd place even showed up.
The 3rd place person was the same person who usually won, but this time they didn’t get the aspect mastery at the start and I did.

Nah. There’s a lot of skill involved. Not screwing up is pretty important

I’ve won several times without bombing everywhere. I even won against someone else that was consistently bombing me simply because he made one bad jump.

Low latency helps a lot though. If you have a high ping, some of the jumps will be pretty impossible.

(Honestly, you probably won because you got better at it. Try it some more without using bombs and see how well you do. )

Trust me, you can get good at this as much as you want but there’s only so much you can do without “luck”.
You can grab as many boosts as you want, but if all you’re snagging are Grounded and the other guy is getting Aspect Master, he will get ahead of you. And once he’s ahead, and has ZERO worries about traps of any kind (Grounded everywhere), all he has to do is be cheap.
There needs to be, someway to hit the 1st place guy, like a blue koopa shell.

Well. The first guy can get hit with lightning…just not by the second place guy. Unless the second place gets grounded and collects a lightning that he gets with and uses it on the guy in first place.

It’s true though. If you’re in first, it’s more of your race to lose. It would be nice if there was a small chance for a second place to get an attack ability. But then…first place usually will have a grounded to negate it…so…

After reading some of the “tips” in this thread. I will say I finally got first after like 40+ races. Pretty much what I was doing wrong was I never really noticed the emblems on the pickup bags. :x after I was able to distinguish the two (I assumed it was just random for some silly reason) I was able to easily get the buffs I need to pull myself to the front.

Mostly just spammed grounded when going for jumping parts for the rest of the race after that. And the occasional bad pick up. But 90% of the defensive bags just give you grounded it seems, which isn’t a bad thing.

That and my strange connection issues seemed to clear up. Despite having huge lag spikes everywhere last night.

Been letting people get in the top 3 instead of me now though.

I was lucky enough to get in a race where the first 3 players hung out at the finish line to let someone else win (which was myself one race). After that, if I was ever in the top 3 by the end, I’d hang around until other people finished first. Pay it forward, I say.

One thing I’ve been doing: If there is a line of 3-4 bags close together, I’ll run through all of them to pick up all the powerups at once. You will lose maybe a second or two because you’re not running forward, but it might be the edge you need to get ahead of the pack. Especially if you’re near the back; I went from 11th (out of 12) to 4th after picking up two of those insta-ports-to-next-checkpoint one after another.

Not sure if people have noticed yet, but players in the top 3 spots basically never get Aspect Master. But they might get one of the power ups that give them one use of the aspect master version of the abilities. There’s a few placed in spots where they can be used to get a shortcut, so keep an eye out for them.
