Mesmer – FURY
Rank 55 – Bunker Engi, Top 300
This game requires skill. You gotta understand the mechanics in order to formulate a strategy.
To those who think this game is broken: I managed to beat all masters without using food buffs. Took me a while, but I did it. The last boss took me about 5 rounds before I figured out his pattern. Then it’s a simple use of the special skills at the right times.
For me, he’s healed some times several times in a row, used a belch or heal before he could (I keep track), etc….There is some skill, but A LOT of luck. Some people here said he rarely went more than 3 drinks without using the heal or belch, but Ive had some rounds where he won’t drink for 6 rounds, then heal (sometimes healing again right after he does it). The boss is definitely very very buggy.
Hint – Poyaqui mimics your choices up until a certain point.
I wasn’t talking about Poyaqui…at all. I was talking about Adnul, who is extremely buggy. His actions are almost entirely random (and we do know how much anet loves RNG). He also seems to carry on the counters for belches/water from games you surrender.
He’s already been fixed. I was finally able to beat him last nite.

I’m doing it right now. He isn’t fixed. He’s still massively buggy. You CAN beat him, but you basically have to get some really lucky draws. Some might get that their first time, others their 50th.
He has no patterns, I’ve written down and done counting between waters/belches. There is no pattern, it seems like it’s purely random. He also heals 2x more than he gets hurt, while the players heal 1/2 of what they get hurt. It makes no sense how they programmed him. He also still has the bug where if the game ends when he’s critiquing, it’ll stay the next round permanent unless you leave the zone and go back in.
Saying he’s totally fixed just because you beat him would be like a person saying getting a precursor from the forge isn’t rare since they got it their first time. RNG is RNG.
Saying he’s bugged because you can’t beat him is like complaining that Rock-Paper-Scissors is bugged in real life.
Note – I understand he’s hard. Work at it, and you can win.
Saying he’s bugged because you can’t beat him is like complaining that Rock-Paper-Scissors is bugged in real life.
He IS bugged, and his actions ARE random. He’s bugged: he’s healed on me twice in a row, or before h should, PLUS his critique goes through games. That’s buggd. His actions ARE random: there is no pattern to them. I’ve written down 20 different matches in a row, and there is no pattern to his actions.
Saying you won is like winning a Rock-Paper-Scissors and claiming that there is a strategy to always win.
Note: I’ve been doing this for 5 hours, tried every strategy people have suggested, tried ones on my own. There is no way to make a strategy when the NPC does things entirely at random.
I’ve had rounds where he didn’t heal for 10 actions in a row, and some where he heals the moment after he belches, some where he heals 3 after. Here is the example of the 10:
BDDDDWDBDWDBDDDBDDBDWDBDW (yes there is an instance there where he only drank twice before belching) or
BDDDBDD or
DBDDDBW
My last round (before I hit surrender since he bugged):
DDDDDWDBWD (notice the water before he could have used it)
Anet should either give him some form of strategy like the others so the players can actually devise a strategy against him, or keep his actions purely random, but make him play by the same rules (or least not make him heal for twice his drink, while we have the opposite). It’s silly to me that they made the damage and heals for us opposite to what the NPC has.

To those that argue there is skill involved – Enjoy your delusions.
Then explain how my wife and I failed every time, time and time again, until we used the strategy Dulfy suggests. Then afterward, we both beat him twice within five matches with him using that strategy and paying more attention. Someone doesn’t savor the flavor in each sip.
There is a lot of luck involved, I’ll agree that anyone saying that luck isn’t a serious factor is indeed deluded, but strategy is just as strong a variable.
Been at Adnul for about 2 hours now, biggest waste of time ever its no where even near fun. Completely random not based on skill at all, its all luck.
It’s a Pitty we can’t poison his drink.
It’s a Pitty we can’t poison his drink.
Ive tried stabbing him like a gazillion times.
Broken is broken. Unless, or course, this is meant to be yet another example of design that only makes sense if a developer wants to drive people from the game, then it’s perfect.
I gave up using tactics and just mashed skills 2,3,4 and i beat him . I think the next living story should be called Revenge of Adnul, cause he was waaaay harder than Zhaitan.
trying beat Adnul is just waste of time
Mini games should be based on player skill. And not a computer opponent that always has the advantage.
Biggest waste of time, I tried for 5 hours on Adnul with various strats then decided the achievement is not worth it.
beating Adnul is 99%of luck and 1% of skill
So why can a lot of the people I know that have beat him, beat him on a regular basis (not using his or the last bosses “elite” skill or regen/healing buffs)? I don’t understand why the forums of late have been blaming everything on luck, demanding that things just be given to them.
I would love to see some video footage, unedited, of someone beating Adnul 3 times in a row. Until then, I will assume people are lying. Hes not easy. He’s kitten hard, and it’s mostly dumb luck that decides if you beat him.
This is all beside the fact that the #1 and #3 skills are simply bugged, but no one seems to care about that little issue.
This minigame, specificaly Adnul is really kitten ing me off!
I have tried for 1 and a half hour now, and are still no closer to beating Adnul. I call BS!
The others were not to hard, but this Adnul guy is just impossible!!
You really have to have the RNG gods on your back to beat this guy..
Its making me so god kitten angry
Edit: Another 30 minutes have passed, and I am still no closer to beating this guy.
Please remove him as a requirement for the achievement, or make him possible to beat

Dulfy.net for how to do Belcher’s Bluff achievements. All are easy if directions followed except Adnul is definetly some luck involved. Perseverance ( and Regeneration buffs ) will win the day.
It’s definitely random. I can consistently get him down to 20% or so and he just busts out his special again, right after he just used it! And when you’re down to 3000hp and your options are drink or drink water, of course he will belch when you drink your water and then you’re stuck with the ole suicide final drink.
I think I can beat him if I give it some more trying but when I get him down that low I know its just a matter of whether he wants to use his special or not in order for me to win, nothing more.
I really wish I was recording all my attempts. I don’t see how he can be “random” considering the number of times Adnul uses belch against my healing. He mirrors my opening move EVERY time. That’s not random. After the first 3 attempts, I started watching…he has mirrored whatever opening move I use each and every time. Depending on the skill, it may or may not matter in the long run, but there is nothing random about the opening move.
I do not think he should be able to announce his signature move with X amount of time for the next drink. FAR too often he’s gotten his bluff up without me having enough time to change my next skill.
I have used Dulfy’s guide, I’ve tried all of the signature moves available multiple times. I’m beginning to think that not all player characters are created the same, and there is something not right about Adnul’s program.
Someone tell me we get the achievement for his part after X tries please? If so, I’ll keep going, otherwise I’m done with Adnul. I thought this would be one of the under-achievements I could get done, since I can’t hit the bazaar jumps and have yet to complete the race before it times out. That’s ok, I won’t be able to do it all. I understand challenge…after 55 years on this planet, I understand the idea of trying and failing at something until you finally figure out how to do it well—that is called “learning” and “practice.” But this is recreation, and hours spent on something with a random generator I cannot seem to beat is just silly.
