What happens if we don't get the quartz node?
The Caledon Forest is the hardest jumping puzzle. However, the one in Dredgehaunt cliffs and the one in Queensdale are not jumping puzzles so its possible you could get them.
I don’t think the price of Quartz will go that high. All stat armour is certainly appealing to people, but I think there will be an abundance of it, especially once some people have crafted their set.
Of course, I have heard it said that you can get the charged version out of the home node, which adds alot of value to getting it. If you can, go for it.
I’m not great at jumping puzzles either, but there were a lot of helpful people on all of them when I tried so they weren’t that bad. I’m on Aurora Glade where the population is quite high. If you’re on a less populated server, it would be harder. You could always guest maybe?
I had trouble in Spekk’s Lab between the second and third station because I’m too slow to make it to the end. I made it by stopping on the cliff face and getting someone back at station two to restart the console for me. You might luck out and get a Mesmer who can portal you up, too.
I think it’s worth getting the quartz node. And you can get charged ones from the home node because I got one yesterday from mine.

Wich ones do you still need for the 16/16. I imagine you have the 8 infused crytsals one by now?

I guess he doesn´t and without that one I would miss a vital point for my quartz unlock too.
This whole thing is really annoying.
Especially when you simply can´t be bothered to go anywhere near that burping game and have a problem with jumping.
I really recommend the guides on Duly.com. This Sky Crystal guide made it possible for me to get that achievement.
Lol, no I don’t have the 8 infused crystals, I have 3. I have enough to make them and I duly saved enough up to do them all at once … or so I thought. I haven’t touched the burping game after so many people say how rubbish it is, and I have since been trying to get the sprint, but there are now too many good players who just blast around the course
I’m guessing we still have 2 more weeks for the achievements, but not really sure. That’s how it’s been in most of the other events, one starts to last a month (like dragon bash, for example), then another starts in the middle (in that case, aetherblades) that lasts for 2 weeks, but during that time the previous achievements are still open, but we don’t know for sure.
Assuming you haven’t done any of the jumping puzzles, check dulfy’s guide for them. Kites of the night is easy to do, most of it is an escort event and a gathering one, then you have to do one single jump to get to the kite. Poor man’s kite is trivial, the kite is right next to the entrance. Kites of Iron I found to be very easy to do, I’ve done it a couple of times and both the hardest for me was to find the way up to the top on the stairs (kept getting lost), the actual jumping part I found it very easy as long as I waited until the screen stopped shaking. Kites over Caledon I found very easy too, but time consuming. It looks intimidating on Dulfy’s guide, but she does it all in one go, one thing lots of people I talked to there failed to realize is that each console you activate works as a checkpoint, if you fall (and I fell a LOT) you can go to the little golem in the entrance (if you die, you’re teleported there), talk to him and he’ll teleport you to the last console you activated (6 of them in total).
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
To be honest, I’m on 13/16 achievements and struggling. I am rubbish at the jumping puzzles but it seems we have to do them to get the kites. I have tried and rage quit the game yesterday after many failed attempts at just the one in Caledonian Forest. I can’t win the sanctum sprint after many many many tries and I only just discovered I can only transform 25 quartz once per day.
So, I think I am not going to make it in time, if I make it at all. So if I fail to get the node, will the price of the quartz go through the roof as other players look to cash in on players who failed the event?
Which things are you still missing?
Some of the achievements are easier than they appear.
If you don’t have the node in your own home instance it has been reported that you can go into the home instance of someone else who does have it and mine from there. I forgot to test that before getting mine so it is just ‘something I read’.
There is also likely to be a huge stockpile of crystals sitting around in people’s inventory so I wouldn’t expect prices to be too crazy. See attachment for what I mean. There are probably people who will take a look at that and go ‘pfft that is nothing’.
Not everyone has a use for all stat gear, one of the reasons was because of the Magic Find but with the upcoming changes to Magic Find gear that reason goes away.
Instead of worrying about the crystals I would worry about getting the recipe sheets so you can actually craft the items. Without those recipe sheets the charged quartz is completely useless.
My brother mined the quartz node in my home instance before he got his Gift of Quartz, so as long as one of your friends or guild members gets it you don’t have to worry.
Almost forgot, if you mine someone else’s node then the one in your instance will be mined as well (if you got the Gift) and vice-versa. You can’t mine 2 home instance nodes in 1 day.

How the heck do you enter somebody elses home instance?
Party with them, have them go inside the instance and join the instance with them (a popup comes up asking if you want to).
The price of Quartz will definitely go up after the nodes in bazaar and the baskets in the open world are gone, for sure. How high is anyone’s guess.
I think it really comes down to whether you want celestial gear and, more importantly, capable of making celestial gear. I mean, all celestial gear is account bound, as are the “Charged Quartz”. Having Charged Quartz is not enough but you also need to specific recipes to make stuff and the armour recipes at least are not cheap! So you basically must really, really want celestial items to sink the necessarily gold into getting stuff.
I don’t know how many people are THAT dedicated to celestial stuff. Engineers, Elementalists and Guardians sure because they are “rounded professions”. But everybody else… eh.. don’t get me wrong, quartz prices will go up but I don’t think it will go up THAT much because I am not entirely sure of the demand being there. But I could be wrong.
Without those recipe sheets the charged quartz is completely useless.
Well, you could still sell them !

If we’re talking about the charged quartz then no, you can’t. It’s account bound.

Ah, I meant the regular quartz, didn’t see that – a reason to acquire the node even if you don’t care about the gear.
you still have two weeks or so….don’t give up
anyway in our guild someone sugested that charged quartz can be used as one of that materials that will be needed to get and craft on crafting lvl 500 which was mentioned by ArenaNet….

Getting 14 Achievements
In my opinion, there are 14 achievements that can be done without too much skill:
- Like Clockwork, Parachute Pilferer, Poor Man’s Kite, Crowd Favorite, Crystal Obsessed, Frequent Sprinter, Pickup Completionist, Ascent to Zephyr Sanctum, Best. Dive. Ever., Diverse Trader, Kookoochoo the Incredulous, Sanctum Sprint, Strangers from the Sky, Voyage to the Bazaar.
- Don’t dismiss the sprint achievements, because you can get all but two even if you are last each time (plus, you get decent loot for finishing the race).
- People in my guild that hate jumping puzzles had no trouble with “Best Dive Ever” — you just need someone who can show you where the power ups are. The tricky jumps have a safety net; the rest can be done with the (3) skill or careful stepping.
Two More Achievements
Getting the last two achievements requires some skill, a mesmer, or a group of friendlies.
- For any of the other kites, guest to a high-pop, friendly server. On Tarnished Coast, I often see mesmers offering portals in map chat.
- For kites and/or crystals, look for a large guild advertising “public” guild missions. Such guilds have no rep-requirements and often do other group activities, such as going to Obsidian Sanctum to help everyone find the kite.
- Of the remaining kites, here’s my take on what’s easiest for non-jumpers:
- Pig Iron Mines: use an engineer: you can use Rifle-5 for almost every tricky jump. Bring a little bit of speed — a helpful cushion. At the end, watch out for the boss who can knock you off the platform. Sneak past using a spy kit, use stability, or try to rifle-5 past.
- Griffonhook: with -50% falling damage and a speed boost, there aren’t any horrible jumps. The hard part here is finding the path and that’s trickiest at the start, so try to go when there are other people you can follow. Once you get to the clifftop, there’s really only one plausible route to take until you reach the kite (you don’t need to carry the “bomb” -- that’s only needed if you want the chest, which doesn’t have anything special).
- Kites of the Night: first-timers will require a group and during peak hours, there should be plenty of people around. After an escort quest, you banish foes using environmental torch skills, find some keys, and enter a dark room that requires some jumping. However, the kite is located conveniently in the spot that requires the least jumping skill. Walk (slowly) straight, throw a torch to see where you need to jump — plenty of room to over-step.
Good luck
Very nice and helpful post, IWN. Too bad the complainers have already decided that ANet is in a conspiracy against them and will put more jumping with each update until the game resembles more Mirror’s Edge than anything.
They will only be happy when they enter the game and see all new “achievements” waiting them in their mailbox.
Ya’ll can do it “Bombing Kites” is really easy do it!
Not sure where they said it, but I believe quartz will be available in living story content going forward. So even if you don’t have a node, it’ll still be farmable.

Bombing kites didn’t look that easy to me. It’s kind of a long puzzle. Maybe the kite is closer to the beginning than I think?

It’s fairly close to the end. By the time you get to the kite the rest is a walk in the park. However if you are doing it for the kite(without the bomb) it is easy. There is no time constraint and you can just take your time. There are some tricky bits with trying to figure out the right path but the jumps are not particularly hard. You are mostly jumping on large wide platforms. Getting the half falling damage trait can also make it even easier.

How does a friend help? If you fall into the lava, do they jump down there and revive you? Now if you are talking about Mes ports, that’s different.
Tip for that JP: Take off all your armor before starting and you’ll save some money.

One way another person can help you is, if you are slow like I am, ^^, when you get to a ledge halfway on a path you can wait there for a bit till the path disappears. They will be at the previous station. They interact with the control again so the path reappears and you have more time to get to the next station.

You don’t need a friend to that – golem will do that – also golem can teleport You to the last pannel (closest to the end) You’ve aleady visited.

otherwise i would already gived up…
The nodes on the cliffs will still be there once the zephyr leaves.
not getting the personal node only means the max number of crystals you can get in a day will be slightly lower.

Not quite true, since after the Zephyrites leave, the whole of Labyrinthine Cliffs will once again become inaccessible. The Cliffs will return again at some unspecified point in the future, like the SAB, but it’s unclear as to when that will be.
source?
I’ve just looked over the wiki and official site and found no mention of the zone being blocked once the bazaar ends.
Southsun stayed open after its event.

I don’t have a link, but a dev on the forums here confirmed that Labyrinthine Cliffs would no longer be accessible after the BotFW event is over.
Not to say I wouldn’t be happier if I was wrong. Personally I’d love the area to stay.
