It’s a big amount of money you are losing on every deal, 5% on listing and later 10% when you sold your item. That is insanely huge cut, and the biggest problem many people not even realising it and selling items for ridiculously low prices, when selling to a vendor gives more profit.
But the main question is: are you gonna fix it when we will have stabilized market? Because 15% is simply a robbery, it means traders cant profit on it in future.

Not having to spam /trade in a city for 5 hours to sell something is worth a lot more than 15% of your profits.

Even with a trade system in place you’re not required to spam chat to sell things.

MONEY SINK

i don’t see why people are always wondering about things like this, they NEED this in place to stop an influx of gold

True, but with repair costs, waypoint costs, the cost of purchase only craft mats (threads, lumps, runes of holding, etc), people in attempting to craft legendaries with items that require purchase, there are alot of gold sinks in the game. The 15% fee is abit large with all these other extra fees.

Take that into account when you put an item up for sale. Basic business takes ALL costs into account and then sets an appropriate price to yield the expected profit margin. It’s an RPG MMO gang and you have to role play the Trading Post too. Those NPC’s are in the business of providing a service(s) for a fee(s). You always can trade by mail and pray the guy on the other end of the deal doesn’t scam you blind.

The worst part is that the 10% is hidden.
You aren’t even told about it, in fact you’re lied to; when you loot the money from your sale, the money that is listed and that shows up as looted on the right (as if you’d picked it up from a mob) shows that same amount as well, but the 10% sales tax is deducted from your character’s money.
An unwary / unsavy player can easily lose money due to a badly designed UI.

This.

Games have to have lots of money sicks or the inflation goes crazy and then it’s impossible to buy anything without hundreds or thousands of gold. Repair costs and WP’s is not enough of a money sick unless they made repair costs higher.

When selling things take into account the 15% cost and if it’s not worth it’s a loss then don’t sell it or vendor it.

I make most of my money from playing the Trade Post and there is still tons of profit to be had. If an item isn’t profitable move on. It’s no different then if someone is controlling that item to make it unprofitable for others trying to get in on it.

Compare 3 hypothetical economy, on the price of say…copper ore which say today is worth 20c:
Econ 1
No sink. 1 Month later, 200c
Econ 2
all the current sinks except 15% fees on TP. 1 Month later, 40c
Econ 3
current state with all sink. 1 Month later, 21c?

Keep in mind there’s no upward bound for making money…and money is always created. WP and repair is insignificant. On any 1 play session…I’ll probably only spend 3s repairing(assuming I die at all), and 3s wp. Just by vendoring items, I make much much more than that. A poorly controlled inflation will wreck havoc on price, causing it to wildly fluctuate because people don’t know what price to expect. A controlled and steady inflation significantly reduces that.
