1g-worth lvl 20 green item

some greens or blues are buyd for skins
Shouldn’t this skin be the same with the blue version?
The blue one only cost around 2s http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/32392
I recently sold this level 3 blue dagger for one gold. The only reason I caught it was because I had an unidentified dye to sell and opened up the TP panel.

Yeah im trying to figure it out because surely the people bidding on this are aware of the other variants as nearly every skin is like this (besides the unique rarers/exo’s etc).
Its def not the sigil, anyone know what the mats are that are involved?
It might be iron or some expensive wood? Still probably isn’t worth it.

It might be something to do with the sigil. If you search for masterwork staves and sort by minimum sale offer, they’re almost all “Of Force” and “Of the Night”.
Maybe some folks have an angle they’re working with the forge or salvaging.
Edit: the link didn’t work right, so I took it out

i dont understand it either…
the buy order on it is higher then yellows… which u can get ectos from….
someone is monkeying with the exchange…
If anything its probably the force sigil…. however major sigils should run for more then 5-6 silver….
The lower level items are all screwed up price-wise. I’ve seen level 10 blues listed for 1g.
Just people hoping to get a lucky sell off an unexpecting newbie, I guess.
Easely explained. It relies on the fact that alot of people make mistakes. I had it happen when i was lvling an alt and buying lvl 40 gear. I clicked the buy button at the same time i noticed it was listed for 3g. luckely i was able to repost it for the same price as I bought it (minus fees) and it sold within the hour which implies that its an mistake easely made. Most of the times the first item that shows up when searching for a green weapontype of a certain lvl is pretty expensive just for this reason. For instance the char greatsword of force at lvl 40-45.

You might explain the sells prices through accidents but what about the buy prices? The buy orders value them at 2x the price of lv80 rares. That would be a lot of accidental buy orders. One they have plenty of time to cancel. An even more extreme case would be the Charr Shield of Force. 13 buy orders at 2g+.
The half-eaten weapons are much easier to explain though. There was a time when they interacted with upscaling in a way that would give you a bigger stat boost than you are supposed to get.
Maybe these lv20 weapons are a higher level version of the same bug.

Yeah the buy orders are easily explained because people are making money off noticing these mistakes. I.e what happened to the poster above with the re-sale.
Also it cant be the sigil, that carries a minor sigil not major, they cost a couple of copper at most.
Yup, the buy orders are high because the selorders are high 2. Last time i checked the lvl 20 char greatsword of force was around 5g, now if The buy orders are around 2g They can make a decent amount of profit. The fact that i was able to sell the weapon I accidentely bought within the hour shows that it is a common mistake which people can abuse to make profit. My guess would be that we will see this will happen alot more when a new profession/ race is realeased.
I bought the Poking Stick for 8g around christmas to gift it to my favourite gay member of our guild. I didnt care about the money and think that homophobia is gay.

Two reasons:
1) Lots of players with plenty of gold want to play/level their alts with the best gear
2) At least in regards to blue items, you can resell after using them. So essentially, you are just renting the item while you level. This significantly increases the cost because you can get it back when you’re done. The high price of the green is often reflective of the high price of the coresponding blue; some people just forget about the selling-back aspect built into the blue’s price.
And speaking of, there is a ton of gold to be made taking advantage of the above dynamic. In fact, the best way to make gold on the TP is not necessarily to think about items themselves, but rather about how people play guild wars 2, and then what items they need to play the game in these various ways.
Maybe it’s ultra-rich players like Wanze having a “generous day” the way visiting royalty would throw coins to the peasants?
The other possibility I can think of is that if it’s a level 20 weapon, that’s precisely where an alt would be if they used a Lvl 20 Experience scroll. Wealthy/veteran players who are rolling alts use the scroll, and now need to equip the alt appropriately, just dump large sums of gold on level 20 gear since 1g is almost peanuts to them.

I throw copper coins all day long at people from inside the Royal Terrace, so they shut up in map chat.

On topic, never underestimate the stupity of drunk players conducting impulsive buyouts during the weekend. I have sold rare greatswords for over 1g in bulk far too often.

You must not be on Tarnished Coast. This tactic would NEVER shut up the roleplayers in DR. (Not that I’d want them to. I enjoy the life roleplayers breathe into the world. )

You underestimate my supply of copper coins by quite a margin.
Aurora Glade, btw, EU.

I’d be happy for you to send me a constant supply of 10,000 copper coins every day so that I can be thoroughly educated in how wrong I am.
You’re actually on the same server as my old guild! (Was never on Aurora myself, sadly. My friends in that guild are mostly EU, and at the hours I play, it made more sense for me to be on a US server.)

If you are not on my server, all you gonna get is 26 stacks of Bloin laid upon you in wvw. NA server? Aint you lucky.

What, no HATS in WvW? I suppose they wouldn’t keep out arrow carts or boiling oil though.

I can buy out burning oil but there is no chance to buy out the stock of arrow carts from german servers.

My guildies in the afore-mentioned guild tell me that “Every man an arrow cart!” is the rallying cry of the masses on some servers.

I think your first part is wrong and your trying to look into it too much. Its simply people cashing in on other people’s accidents. I also checked the blue when this was first posted and in no way is it reflective of 1G.
