75 Dollars for 25 Transmutation Splitters!
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Why wouldn’t it be? People loved it when they added fused weapons to the gem store for $400.
$75 is practically a steal!
$3 to recover both items plus upgrade Vs simply transferring a skin to another item.
You choose.
RIP City of Heroes
The fused weapons went for $400 in the gem store?
Based on the notion that it’ll take 280 BLT to get 70 scraps (1 scrap per 4 chests) to get 7 tickets (10 scraps per ticket) for it. 5 keys for 450 gems at 80 gems per $1 comes out to be $315. Of course for some the RNG wasn’t in their favor.
RIP City of Heroes
What a joke. They could have made a free solution to the problem of too hard to get items (ascended armor/weapons) and expensive skins (t3 etc) becoming inseparable through transmutation, but instead they are bleeding us dry for a basic service. The sad thing is I have over 250 transmutation crystals from bl chests, which are practically useless without this counterpart.
At least there IS a solution now though, even if its price is a complete scam.

Yeah, I think we all realize that since we play the game.
However, there is a point between having a gem store item to make money and having a gem store item to gouge your customers with.
To OP: Keep in mind that a lot of people have been transferring gold to gems lately because of all the farming, so it may seem high dollar wise, but many people are getting it with gems purchased with gold.

oh how I miss the sub, a sub that allows 99% content to the player. I really like GW2, and the direction Anet has taken has been great, but whoever running the Gem store should be let go.
It is starting to feel instead of immersive world of Tyria & adventure, but a F2p cash grab game where $$ is always the main subject/content, Gem store or TP.
Careful Anet, Ncsoft has a pretty nice sub game around the corner eyeing your playerbase….
So the better solution for you is to go back and lose both items and the upgrade to move a look?

Again, that “cash grab” that you speak of subsidizes the game that we all love to play. I don’t envy the fine balance they have to strike re: the gem store, but given that there is zero pay to win (as well as the ability to grind out gems with gold), we all should have no complaints. This game remains one of the best values of all time.
Can someone point out in the rules that says Gem Store purchases are required?
You are paying for a convenience. An optional one at that. Previously, if you Transmuted an item, you lost one in order to combine the stats and looks. With that said, the release of this item can only have a positive outlook: Being able to do something you couldn’t undo in the past.

Sooo apparently “No monthly fee” means we should be ok with them holding the cosmetics of our characters in what’s basically a death grip to the balls with these pricey convoluted paths around a logical wardrobe system that other non-sub games do for free?
Nowhere does it say that the for-profit company that built, develops, and manages this game can’t find ways to pay for those activities. Arenanet has done this in the most benign way possible, in a way that does not affect gameplay and really only affects convenience. This is incredibly commendable, especially given their semi-monthly updates and excellent support. Can we please stop giving them grief for gem-related
issues, especially when they are nice enough to ADD services to the game. Imagine for a second if gems didn’t exist and the prices for those items were in gold…. Sure, they’d be expensive, but I bet no one would be complaining.
I’ve been asking and waiting for this tool but as much as I would love to use it, 6000 gems for 25 is a way more than what I value that service to be worth. I was hoping for 1800 or maybe as high as 2400 for 25. At 6000 gems Anet can stick em where it’s dark and smelly.

Stones are 40 gems/each at the most expensive… I expected splitter to be around 100 gems and may be 25 for 2000 gems but currently it feels like a bad joke worthy of the cheapest f2p out there…

Which was paid for with euros by someone else. In the end, every gem spent on cosmetics, is a gem paid for in hard cash.
I don’t think the transmutation splitter is meant for anyone but those who want to move legendaries. That’s a luxury service on top of the most prestigious item in the game and as such, a premium price is justified.

BTW who ever needs 25 of that item. One of them costs 300 and I’d be hard pressed to believe you’d need more than 1.

I can swap my legendaries without losing the sigils between toons whenever I want? I pay 200€ for 25 splitters if necessary.
My thief and Ele are really happy that they can share the Incies for a low Gemcost when I swap toons every once in a while.
Both are full ascended without even crafting anything or grinding the new content. ^^

Convenience?!?
No no no no, for many people (like myself) making your character “LOOK” the way you want them to, to solidify they presence and story in this world, is a great driving force behind their gameplay. Having control over my character’s cosmetics is not a convenience, it’s a key part of my goal in the game and it’s offered freely through Wardrobe Systems in other free to play games. I mean, my only reason for playing the game right now is to get at least 2 “complete” looks for my heavies and I want one to have Infinite Light, one to wear most of the new Gem heavy armor and the other to have some t3 culture armor.
You have to admit that appearance is a key part to the gameplay… unless you think everyone just wants to run around in w/e kitten kitten looking gear they get at level 80 I guess.
And they’re allowed to get money … i’m willing to support them in ways I deem fit. But this transmutation system is a joke and after I fond out that Wardrobe systems are the norm in other MMOs I refused to spend another dime on gemstore cosmetics.
The real question is why would you even need splitters?
People here complaining about the price are complaining about hogwash. Do you really have that many skins that you want to move over?

This. If I’m bored with my Thief I can just transmute my legendaries to my Ele.
Won’t cost that much.

I like to experiment with builds. It gets expensive when you try a rune and find out it isn’t working out and destroy it when trying a different rune. With this I could remove the rune and keep it for another build.

I really hope this isn’t a trial balloon…them seeing what they can get away with as far as pricing for future (actually desirable) items goes.
