A little tip for anet
And yet there are LOADS of people spending those 10 euros on that skin.
Thus in order for them to actually make more money form a lower price the amount of people needed to break even would be TEN TIMES as high, which is quite unlikely.

i dont think so, me and alot of ppl (already spoken with friends and guild mates) will buy more stuff if will cost less then now, 1 euro a skin another 2 euro for other stuff etc etc u will open more the tp and u will buy more stuff, now if u wanna buy something u have to spend alot and this will discourage to buy anything
Plus, it’s just a cosmetic skin (or town clothes with costume brawl), it doesn’t effect game play at all (besides a slight advantage in costume brawl). I bought one of the town clothes last year with real money because I didn’t have time to make the gold, and using it for a year I think it was a worthwhile purchase.

Yet, a lot of people have bought extra character slots, bank expansions, costumes, etc. (either with real money or with gold). Besides, if you made it cost that cheap (gem wise), people would have even less of a reason to spend real money. They could just run a quick dungeon for 1 gold to get some gems.
Also, sad to say, “me and alot of ppl (already spoken with friends and guild mates)” is a very, very, very small sample size to the millions that own gw2.
A little tip for customers: If you think the best way to serve your one-person perspective tells you how a company serving three and a half million clients should act, you either have a LOT of clones out there or you’re just fooling yourself.
I don’t have to like or support RNG-based products, but I totally understand their profit potential over other models.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

50-60g for 800 gems. It really isn’t much.

To who?….15……charrrrrrrrrrs

if u dont have a life and u can farm it, isnt too much, but for make 60g u have to farm alot of hours, onestly i make more money with real job so no sense for me to convert gold into gems, so i’l kback with euros, and 10 euros is too much

And are you really that certain that 10 times more people would buy stuff at the lower price?
Because if not, it would be a rather stupid change.

Seems like people really don’t have a problem converting gold into gems, that’s all I have to say and I know it’s frustrating to get an answer like this, but just about everyone I’ve talked to does this. Perhaps they should have some items you can only buy with money, but keep them relatively inexpensive.
1 euro is too much. They should sell it for 10 cent.
I’m sure I’m right, since I say so.

I’m also a customer, and bought a lot of Gems with money. So if I say things are ok the way they are, my opinion holds more weight. How? You give yours for free, while I pay Anet for mine.
This is how the business world works.

I bought A-Net stock because investing in gems seems to be a good idea. Since I am an investor in the company, don’t I have equal say if not more say than the rest of you?

Unless you hold a large percentage of the outstanding “NCSoft Corp” shares, a paying customer will always hold more weight than a low level investor. Without us, the company makes no money, which in turn impacts a stock’s value. So that in turn affects not only the per share values an investor paid for, but also potential dividend payouts.

your opinion holds more weight? lol r u the king of the hill? i’ve bought alot of gems too with money for character exp tab, bank tab, and bag tab for 2 character, and now i dont think to spend other money at this prices, if they wanna more money from me should drop the prices
It’s better for ANet to sell N skins at 10$ than 10*N skins at 1$ each. In the second case, a lot of people would have that skin in game, and they would thus be too common.
Of course it would be better to sell 100*N skins at 1$ each, but i bet those prices are quite cleverly defined.
Why do everyone think they are important because they compose of 0.00000000001% of Anet sales or owns 0.00000000001% of Anet stock.
If you are too cheap to pay more than 1$. Maybe Anet give up on you.
How do you know that no one will pay 10$, just because you wont’ pay more than 1$.
And if you are a stock holder, fill free to go to the next voting and use your 0.00000000001% influence to decide on Anet’s future.

ANet doesn’t have stock. It’s 100% owned by NC West Holdings which is 100% owned by NCSOFT.

i can agree $10 USD for a shirt or a tool is alittle much considering i can pay that much an get a real live version
an as said above the gem store’s income is funneled to NCsoft NOT Anet an the money you spend in the gem store goes to Linage or Aion or other games that you mostlikly aren’t playing atm
So the great game guild wars 2 gets kittenized so support other NCsoft (fail) games

You mean just like said “fail” games have supported the development of GW2 for about 5 years?

Anet isn’t getting NCSofts money now an what I mean by that is a great game is getting butcherd to support older less popular games sure Anet got help by NCsoft to get started but at what point can it stop paying back an start getting the money it needs to be great ? after people have gotten tired of the living story or lack of impacting content ?
Lineage community says the same thing about GW2. And consider lineage makes far more money with lesser staff, I have to agree with them. Not to mention GW2 is probably developed from funding on NCsoft’s other game.
All jokes aside, I dont’ think those games have a net loss, so I dont’ know what you are talking about. Many of the funding is probably used for development on newer game though.
You have to read through NCsoft’s financial report, I’m not sure what’s going on there.
The problem is there are other people that would pay more. If you read through another post there are people who payed hundred of dollars in this game. So even if you won’t pay 10$ Anet isn’t worry, because other people will.
Not to mention there is a gem exchange system. I’m not sure how many people will want to pay 1$ if they can just do a single dungeon and buy the skin with in game gold.

I don’t think you ever read NCsoft’s financial report. lineage is the 2nd most profitable subscription franchise ever behind world of warcraft. They are making far more money than GW2 even today.
I dont’ think Aion have a net loss also, so they dont’ need finance from GW2. Aion is only a tiny bit behind GW2 on net sales for Q2, I’m not sure if Q3 report is out yet. I’m not sure about their baseball team or mobile game.

The reality is that there is a business model here … I can tell you customers want stuff for free, but that’s not going to happen because giving stuff for prices that don’t fit that model will me the business fails to meet it’s expectations for ROI.

But if they place 1 2 or 3 euros stuff me and not only me will buy more than one stuff wich cost 10 euro… is not a problem for me spend 2 euro today for a skin another 2 tomorrow for 20 black lion keys etc etc tbe problems is not to spend money but how to spend if they didnt change anything i dont think i will buy anything… i prefear to spend 50 euros for 50 things that 20 for 2… and like i told i m not the only one
But as stated several times in this thread: If they lower the price they most get ten times as much of them sold in order to break even, and that is highly unlikely.

I’m not sure why both sides have to min/max. I would have to assume there was a evaluation on the most apt pricing. It would be interesting to see the numbers from sale prices vs normal prices to see if normal prices are on the down slope of DR.
Imo prices are to high for what items are and how much they cost to add additional units. I feel that they would sell more and make more profit by reducing prices, not to 1 dollar (get out of here with min/max only), but to something more dependent on TLoDR.
It’s just a look. It’s not required to play the game.
If you think the look is worth $10 then buy it. If you don’t, then move on.
Keep in mind a lot more people have a lot more money than you do.
You are not the center of the universe. Just because you won’t do it other people “might” do it.
Not saying you are wrong. But there need to be 10 people like you and only 1 person to buy it for 10$.
Pretty much every cash shop game use the GW2 model they have. With similar price.
There are games which use your model, but they usually dont’ have gem exchange system. I can just do a single dungeon to make 1$ worth of gold.
