Yes. Exactly that.
But actually within game shops. They still haven’t released them in Australia at the least and honestly I don’t want to have to convert every copper I have into gems when A-Net is withholding these for w/e reason. Surely after a year they’d have smoothened out the complications, especially when they’re already up in Europe and US.

Australia. Land of ‘We get all gaming stuff last’ |:
It takes two to tango. There is limited space in gaming shops and there would have to be sufficient demand in Australia to justify stocking cards.

That’s the issue.
I spoke to EB games, which is also here aswell as in the US. And they told that the cards are registered in the system, but the head office hasn’t received the stock, and from there all the distributional crap happens. I was also told this by some of the staff who actually play the game aswell, and who have been checking in within the company in regards to when they’re coming out aswell as other sources on the net and off.
Sure they’re in the system. That’s nice and all. But pointless if they’re not physically coming in. And the fact that they’re in the system means at the very least, A-Net has an intention to release them at some point. I just hope they do it soon because this has been the situation for over 3 months now where you’ve got this record of a product that isn’t actually coming in.
Just because they are in the system doesn’t mean that EB is ordering them. I seriously doubt that Anet would refuse to sell gem cards to Australian businesses if there is a demand for them. They depend on gem sales to support the game, why would they say “we don’t want your money, Aussies.”
More likely the option is there but EB doesn’t order them because they don’t believe there is sufficient demand to stock them – they need to invest in a large number of cards that may not sell quickly, and take out something else to make room for a display of gem cards. Unless they will clearly outsell some other product there isn’t a lot of incentive to obtain them.
I know that this might sounds stupid/captain obvious or whatever…but why do not use a credit/paysafe/paypal card?
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
I would imagine A) not all players, like teens have credit/debit cards; enough attempts to buy gems via the gem store fail to go though due to some reason and is a PITA to get fix in time to take advantage of some short term sale of a much desired item.
As for me in the NE of the USA, I’ve seen gem cards in Walmart, Target and Best Buy. I don’t go to GameStop since their PC games selection is worse than Walmart, Target and Best Buy so why would I go there for a proxy currency card for a PC only game?
RIP City of Heroes
Exchange cash money for a visa debit gift card (places like myer or even woolworths/coles might have them).
Buy gems because it is literally a prepaid credit card.
