Yeah most likely someone trying to buy out all the abyss dye’s up to a ridiculous price, then place them back on the market at that amount. Azurrei is right, if no one buys them at this price it will force the person who bought them to list them much lower and will eventually stable out the price again.

Why get abyss when you can get midnight fire/ice for much cheaper? (and black dye for that matter).

I remember buying abyss dye at like 7.5 gold just a couple weeks ago. kitten this is crazy. Guess the next time I need black I’ll just get one of the not “pure” black ones.

This sounds about right. I have a friend who’s been buying it along with ectos as a form of speculation, since he’s expecting the prices to keep going up on both. Every now and then the price on something will rise, then crash, I honestly think the amount of speculation in this game is hilarious.

What people forget is that Chef discipline can craft Unidentified Gray Dye (rare), I got 2 Abyss Dye from it.

Because black looks grey and midnight ice is just a dark blue

I have Abyss, Black and Midnight ice on my warrior and Abyss is not only the darkest, it’s the shiniest too.

We can craft abyss, but coriander supply is not infinite. Basically coriander limits the supply side of this equation.

I was selling them for 17-18g. I’m astonished they were selling so quickly at that price, but I do have to wonder how much higher it could go as the number of players who even have much more money than that dwindles significantly. Also, as opposed to a precursor, you can craft the things economically.

I got my Abyss from a gem store dye pack the first week.

I have found a few more and sold them – they’re rare, but they aren’t THAT rare.

Also, I have a theory that despite inflation and market manipulation, Abyss Dye has been generally worth the equivalent of $20 in gems, converted to gold.

I could be wrong, but it was that way when the game launched and it’s remained pretty steady – at 34g, it’s over priced…

It’s at 20g now, not sure if anyone would buy at that price.

Got curious and bought 3, first 2 were crap but got black dye from the 3rd worth 8g so I got my money back thanks to rng. Asked a guildie whom has cooking to make one, he said the mats were expensive. Orrian truffles, coriander seeds, black beans etc.

That. killed. me.

Yup. I had 17 corrianders. I broke down and bought the other 8 and bamm! Celestial dye. My first level 80 alt is looking sweet.

Moral of the story: You see Mature Herbs on radar, you drop everything and you go kill them with your sickle.

ooh mature herbs! thanks! :P Now I’m gonna go for young herbs for vanilla and mature ones for corriander. Only have 5 though
