So recently with the addition of new faces in Total Makeover Kits, Anet have decided to showcase some of the new additions on their Facebook site.
However, this particular image immediately made me want to use a Kit I have saved up, because of the color of the Asuran’s bow tie, which is a pale pastel pink color (of course one of the faces too).

However, I was REALLY disappointed by the fact that such accessory color does not exist in-game, not that I know of anyway.
So why is that color showcased when it’s not even implemented in-game yet, or is there a secret way to unlock this color..?

It’s really hard to say without being in the game – pink ice or peach ice dye perhaps?

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

I know people have been clamouring for the ability to use unlocked dyes for hair accessories for a while, so I suppose its possible they intend to implement that functionality at some point. I mean, now that dyes are account-bound instead of character based it would probably be easier to implement that sort of feature and more useful overall.

Alternatively, its just promotional / concept art and they don’t always follow what’s possible in-game when they’re doing that sort of promotion art.

Well that’s sort of what I meant, it being hard to check not being in-game. You’d have to have the same lighting and find a piece of gear with the same fabric so that it dyes the same way and then check the available dyes.

The OP did not specify how he/she determined that the dye is exclusive and otherwise not available.

I’d almost think that would be a waste of resources to have an exclusive dye like that but it’s possible of course.

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

Its not that the dye itself is exclusive. Its that the bow in the hair in the picture the OP posted is part of the hairstyle, not armor. And hair accessories only have access to about 15 different dyes total, they don’t use the characters’ unlocked dyes or anything like that. There’s definitely no light pink option, the only pink is a very dark vibrant pink (almost magenta).

The dye almost certainly exists in game, or something very similar. You just can’t use it to dye hair accessories because they only use a stock set of available colors and not the normal dye system.

Which is why I suggested on top of my head two potential options for the OP to try out if the hasn’t – pink ice or peach ice?

I didn’t think it was a matter of the name of the dye (or colour) but whether or not it is obtainable and usable to match other parts of the outfit with the accessory?

Being able to dye the accessory yourself a different colour after character creation would be a different matter?

I don’t think you get the concept of Accessory Colors…
You don’t use the dyes you use to dye armors for your accessory, you use the Makeover Kits, which only grants you like, 15 options like the other user has stated, which clearly none of the colors are even similar to the one in the image..

My main point here is, why Anet is promoting something they’re not even selling in-game?
Seriously, more color options for Accessories would really be nice..

Ok correct me if this is wrong – you would like to know if the colour used on said hair accessory, as you provided the screenshot, is otherwise available in-game in form of a dye.

That is what I understood, I am very well aware on how the makeover kits work.

So, would you like to know

whether or not there is a dye called (I assume) pale pastel pink as you named it in your OP

or

whether or not there is a dye that would (if you could) dye the same accessory in the same way?

Did you actually test all available dyes?

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

???

This whole thread is about the accessory color of that shade of pink and why it’s not available in the Makeover Kits, even though they decided to showcase it.
I did not state that I wanted to know the dye color name to dye my armor pieces..

Haha, ok my bad, I did misunderstand that. Yeah, gotta hate that if the “preview” does not match what you are getting (so to speak).

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

Changing accessory color has been something asked for since shortly after launch. My problem is a lot of my favorite hairs use an accessory of some kind, like the Norn female bandanna. Problem is I’m always changing my look to add new color schemes. Therefore, I couldn’t possibly commit to an accessory knowing I won’t be able to change it as well when I change colors, especially when it doesn’t even come close to matching the rest of my outfit.
