The pollresults also show that 1/2 the population supports the other half in terms of revenue for GW2. So in conclusion the game is free to play but at an average of $12.50 per person there is good money in the free to play model

Based on less that 600 votes on a web site I hadn’t heard of before because I rarely play WvW. It also uses very broad ranges to bin the replies.

not only that, the poll includes gold→gem, when you add something like that the poll becomes useless because if you look at it, almost 50% never buy them with real money.

Way too small sample.

And stating that the “1/2 of the population” does something is very faulty based on that very low number.

There are over 3 million accounts for the game. 600 of those is basically nothing at all.

It was half of the voluntary replies who didn’t buy gems with cash. Extrapolating such a pole to the actual active player base will get you an F in any college course on poling.

Sorry i failed to mention that gw2wvw is a WvWvW/GvG site and the poll results are predominantly from the WvW player base.

What is interesting is that results were almost identical at 250 votes and at 500 votes.

And yes I got an F on maths :P

And yet those 600 votes are still a very small part of the WvW playerbase.

Not to mention the sample size is biased.

You are asking these questions from WvW players only. They do not represent all facets of the playerbase, and I would reckon that WvW players are more than likely to buy/sell gems considering they have very little opportunity to make gold except for gem conversions.
