Q:
Annoying Red Notifications ( ! )
although some love it and some hate the best choice would be to build in a switch to turn the option on or off
Same I feel urged to empty my pickup whenever I buy stuff.
Just give a switch. Personally I like it.
I like the idea, but I wish it was less, well, “urgent” looking, I guess. I’d like to be able to turn it off, though, because it drives me crazy.
Thanks for your Input guys, I buy and sell a lot and I feel promoted to have to clear my stuff out during event’s it’s just annoying. Agreed they need a switch to turn it off, I think That’s a very good idea!
Finding this really annoying myself. I’ll check the TP when I want, and would prefer not to have the annoyance of the red marker. Please add an option for us to opt out.
This gets on my nerves as well. We could use an option to turn the notification on or off.
The new red text at top of the TP window is even more annoying. The one informing you that you need to visit a TP merchant to pick up your stuff. That’s obvious info, and the bright red alert font is unnecessary.
OMG TP Notification!!!
/checks tp

It’s a great way to add dozens of tiny little disappointments to my day.
People always have stuff pending in the Trade Post. Either remove the annoying exclamation mark, or add option to switch it off!!!
I think the idea is to encourage players to empty pending items from the database and free up some room. Its the only logical reasoning I can see why they implemented it.
“After several hours I’m still swinging this sword with1 lodestone drop”
I actually like this. I don’t play the TP, so any sales that I make are good sales for me. No more need for me to check the tab on the TP, I get a notification.

The notification also fixes this issue.
A lot of people probably thought that when you sell on the TP, the coins instantly get deposited into your inventory. Reasonable assumption, considering that you can deposit your items to the TP from anywhere in the world.
Similarly, some people simply posted items and thought that it meant that they had sold them. The notification clears this up, whereas the red text clears up the pickup.

At least clear the frikken exclamation point after it’s checked.
I like it. It lets me know if I have something waiting for me so I don’t have to constantly check.

I think the notifications really help new players who often didn’t know how to get stuff from the TP. At least they are offered some help now.
However, the persistence of the icon indeed is rather annoying. Options to turn notifications on or off would be nice, but it would also help if simply opening the TP window would clear the icon. Now it only clears when you go to the trader and pick up your goods, which I only tend to do every once in a while. Just clearing it when players press O would help a great deal already.

i agree, i’m under the impression Anet added this so new players would know when/where they got something, and that they have to go a trading post NPC to pick it up.
i personally don’t like it, but i wouldn’t mind if they kept it in and gave us an option to turn it off.
How is a small icon at the top left of your screen bugging you? Is your GUI set at max size making it the size of a baseball? Lower your GUI size and see if that helps.

I would like to suggest that they make it green. Looks better and is a positive indication instead of red.
(Green exclamation point) = Oh look! I sold something!
