What would they be resetting? The buyer and seller set the prices based on supply and demand. The supply was low for orichalcum at first with few lv 80, but as there are more and more players getting the supply is going up. Wiping it each week would just upset everyone that would have to relist their items. Might clear out a little supply at the initial wipe, but would balance soon.

Reset how? End all auctions and send unsold items back to sellers? You realize that would cause a crash of the TP every week when the sellers would just relist everything?

Just face it, the current transparent, global market is created to benefit the buyer. It’s very hard to make money off the TP and/or manipulate it. I think this is exactly what ANet wanted.

No I do not comment on whether I think it’s good or not.

I disagree with the comment that it is “very hard to make money off the TP” part of your statement. I agree with the manipulate part though.

I don’t think it is particularly hard to make money off the TP. It’s just a matter of finding what there is demand for and selling it. Since the market is open to all servers that means that there are lots of buyers out there for sellers.

Volume makes up for small margins.

If I can buy and sell a single item type a thousand times an hour and make 2 copper off of each sale. That’s 2000 copper per hour. Which is 20 silver per hour.

Since I can do that with multiple item types because the volume of sales is that significant one can definitely make money on the market.

Does it take time to manage all of these buy and sell orders? Definitely. You need to baby them and monitor them. You need to adjust the pricing constantly and be smart about the sell orders. But you can definitely, and easily, make money on the market.

No you don’t hit the reset button on an economy and expect it to be the cure all. If you want the Trading Post to stabilize then do your part. Someone floods the mkt with underpriced items, take the opportunity to buy it for craft or resale. That’s just good basic business.

I used to be able to make a good amount of money in the trading post selling materials and items. But the prices for everything seem to drop excessively low quickly. For instance Orichalcum. It was at 10s about 2 days ago and now it is roughly 5s now. Now this is good for buyers but not the suppliers. I find it frustrating to spend my time running around farming then seeing that it was hardly worth the effort because some guy who hates money decided he was going to sell a stack of 250 orichalcum for an insanely low price and screw me out of my money.

So down to the question, Do you think it would be a good idea to reset the trading post every week to hopefully higher TP prices?

Nobody screwed you out of anything. They beat your price of 10s and are happy making there 5s

You can’t sell and you want to change the mechanism? If you do not understand how the market work, I suggest don’t play it…just trade for what you need. You’ll end up losing more often than you win.
