I noticed that Minis 3-Pack (Set 1) and Minis 3-Pack (Set 2) have been moved from the Promotion tab to the Toys tab and are still available, while this two items were marked as a limited time offer no more than a couple of days ago. What does this mean? Will we have all the mini series for sale at the same time from now on?
Am i missing anything or is this behaviour just not normal?

It’s hard to tell how long they will stay. They took them off last time, I see no reason why not again.

Projected profit for Anet is the reason for changing the routine.

Stop abusing the word “right”. There is no rights here only what ARenanet wants to give you. In any case, Arenanet does what is beneficial to Arenanet.

Hopefully the series 1 and 2 minis are here to stay in the gem shop. I wouldn’t say at this point that Anet has decided to change anything. If I recall other minis were available in the gem shop for a while before finally being set to a limited time and then removed. I think the mini chickenado and mini scruffy at least were available for a good 2-4 weeks before finally having a 7 day timer. So it’s possible Anet may leave the series 1 and 2 minis there for a while and eventually remove them again.

I’m guessing the reason why they brought them back again so soon after the 2 year anniversary sale is because prices on minis in the TP were going up before the feature pack released; after the announcement that minis would be permanently destroyed after adding it to your collection. Also the achievements for series 1-3 minis were completely reset and you have to get it all over again. Because of this players who had already completed the achievements had to obtain some or all of the minis again since they no longer owned them.

I really do hope the series 1 and 2 minis are here to stay so I can buy them when I’m able to get gems. It would also keep a supply in the trading post and help keep prices down, especially since adding it to a collection for the achievements removes them from the game permanently. Before the feature pack you could get the achievement and then resell the minis since you no longer needed them.

I certainly wouldn’t mind if they were here to stay. I always like being able to work towards stuff at a time and pace of my choosing, and not feeling pressured into making decisions.

Of course, I’m also not a mini collector, so it doesn’t matter to me either way.

Those mini packs in the gem store are not worth it unless you happen to get one of the handful of expensive mini’s from the sets. You’re better off buying them directly from the TP with your gold rather than covert it to gems or you’re better off buying gems and converting to gold and purchasing them off the TP.

Set 1 is 383 gold. Set 2 is 132 gold. Set 3 is 402 gold.

Set 1 has 54 mini’s. It would take 18 of the set 1 packs if you got 3 unique mini’s each attempt. At 300 gems a piece that’s 5400 gems. If you had exchanged the gems for gold, you’d get about 523 gold which is enough to purchase sets 1 and 2.

Nope. You’re not missing anything. Yesterday there was a countdown on them as a limited time offer again. As another user has written:

The fact is Arenanet HAS to generate INCOME in other for them to survive as a business. So if you want to blame Ncsoft go ahead, but it is still Arenanet that gets the pick the poison.

I have no problem sleeping at night, and how Anet generates an income is not at all my concern. They will never get 10 cents more from me.

Toys category of the gem shop is showing them with 7 days left. Edit: Also in the Promotions category. I’m guessing they may have switched to the 7 days left availability a little early. But it does look like they have no intention of keeping the series 1 and 2 mini packs available at all times.

They must have jumped the gun last week and retracted it.

Eh I would still consider it a gem store item since its an extremely rare drop from a black lion chest and the primary source of keys is the gem store or key farming if you’re willing to put a ton of time into it.

The point that is being asked about Mini pet packs being permanent now or not is the same point of the Hair Stylist contract being permanent or not. Anet on the gem store or the patch notes says x item will be available for a limited time and then its changed after that time is up.

No smart person would buy these packs at this time anyway. You would need so many gems to buy enough of the packs, that convertig gems to gold and buying the minis from TP is the far better option.

Current prices for the sets are:

Set 1 ~ 391 Gold
Set 2 ~ 124 Gold
Set 3 ~ 378 Gold

Thats about 120€ if you convert gems to gold. I think buying these packs would cost a multiple of that.

The average cost right now is 100 gems for 9g44s. You would need a little under 9.5k gems if you were to convert gems to gold and buy off TP. At 300 gems for the mini packs, you could buy 32 (rounded up). You would only get 96 of the required 149 mini’s and that’s assuming you don’t get duplicates.

The only reason to buy a mini pack is to gamble at getting one of the more expensive mini’s.

But everyone knows the bank will win in the long run if you gamble
Also the chance for exotic minis out of these packs is really low, I wouldnt be suprised if you get no exotic mini at all in 32 packs, so you most likely need to mystic forge gamble after it, too.

Seriously, don’t buy these minis.

Anet introduced mini holographic risen knights as a drop, and mini Caithes and Scarlets (which were key farmed), and players have tossed these into the forge to cheaply generate all of the rare + minis and tank overall mini prices.

Right now all sets of minis are also BL Chest drops.

The cost to buy the sets with gold is a small fraction of the price to buy with gems.
