Are T6 dust prices going to drop again?
yes, they are going to drop, sell your stock
no, they will not drop, buy everything
(no, but seriously, even the best models of tracking gold inflation vs. supply alteration cannot give you a straight answer. It can all be nuked by a patch that increases or decreases the drop rate, modifies drop location, etc. )

or if a new bot program comes out
Ive just sold all mine the last couple of days and made 63g
Asura – Desolation
I’ve also sold all my mats but i have invested the money for short time profit (margin around 12%) but its going pretty fast so the profit per day is quite nice
Just wondering if I should sell off my stock since it’s triple of what it was a month ago.
Price is really nice, If you don’t need (T5 & T6) dust just grab the cash and invest your money in something new (cheap).
Tricky question… not too sure tbh. I guess that they might drop and i’m not too sure if i should sell my gatherings… i suppose that eitherway i choose i will loose money xD
But since most people now have their amulets i guess that they will use the new laurels for t6 mats since that yields the most profit… i think i’ll gamble a bit with powerful blood and armored scales^^
Gl to all of you traders and or legendary hunters ;D
They’re pretty high at the moment.
Sure they could go higher, but selling them probably isn’t a bad idea. If nothing else, one would figure there’ll be more bot produced goods showing up before long dropping the price once more (until there’s another ban wave).
I don’t think they will. I personally need alot of them right now and for the unforseeable future, so my judgement may be skewed. I don’t have time to farm Orr!
They will slowly go down over the next few months. Never see them as low as 4s again.
They were key components in crafting the triforge which could immediately become ascended and pei ple did not want to wait for laurels.
Also the price before was extremely low to begin with because t6 dust is used in hands down the mosy recipes in the game. It was already an undervalued item.
In short. Yes sell now as prices will drop in my opinion.
I’d say the chance of them dropping a fair bit is greater than the chance they rise by a meaningful amount from where they are at now.
I would take my profit and move on.

They are key components in alot more things than triforge. The triforge isn’t even noteworthy here. There are things that I use every day that require T6 dust. I essentially need around 30 T6 dust every day and I don’t have time to farm Orr etc.
I think that now John Smith has announced that saying anything about plans for precursors will “shock the market”, I think the price of t6 mats should be shooting through the roof.
Here’s why:
Implications of the phrase, “shock the market”.
- If, after months of complaints that precursors are too difficult to acquire, Arenanet were to announce that precursors were to become even more difficult to acquire, there would be a public outrage.
- If Arenanet were to announce that the precursor system were not to change, then there would be no shock.
- It therefore seems much more likely that the shock will come due to precursors becoming easier to acquire.
In addition, we have this from Colin yesterday (though I haven’t seen the original in any official capacity yet, so this may not be true), “There will be other legendaries in the future. Priority is resolving ways to get precursors, including the scavenger hunt 1/2” — this adds fuel to the fire, if genuine.
Repurcussions
If precursors are easier to acquire, then t6 mats should increase in price due to everybody buying them for the completion of their legendaries.

Skimming is not your friend when making counterpoints.
I said the exact thing you just stated.
wait for the next wave of bots to drive down prices then profit bigtime when the bot banwave comes.

It must not be, because even after reading it multiple times I still come up saying something very different to what you do.

Actually, any of those actions would cause a market shock.
Is there a distinction in you mind between the market “reacting” to better information vs. “shock” at a revelation? Just trying to get a better feel for what questions we can ask that can be answered.
A number of us are certainly contemplating the meaning of the few bits of volume data you’ve been able to share. I dont’ think knowing those details has noticably altered the trends for those items or other precursors.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
Trust in the devs to make the right call – precursors are the most tricky subject when it goes to GW2 economy. Leave them decide that road to take. My only wish is to NOT wait for too long.

Well, since the players finance the game and not the other way around, keep in mind THEY are hoping to keep US entertained enough to occassionaly give them money.

Mhhh, well I hope that they are working to keep US entertained
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

I guess that you’re saying that the market inevitably gets shocked when content is announced. That makes some sense, I suppose, but makes me wonder why, if the market will inevitably be shocked, does it matter when the market gets shocked.

I think what John is saying is that the uncertainty about what is going to happen to the precursors is build into the market. Any definitive statement that John were to make would remove some of that uncertainty or shift perceptions and therefore would shock the market.
For example, if Anet says precursors are too hard to get, the market would be shocked. Prices would likely fall as people tried to unload any they had while they can still get a high price.
But if Anet says they are fine the way they are then the future expectations change. If more people has expected precursors to be easier to get and now they know they won’t then the price goes up. If more people had expected thought that precursors would become more rare and now they know they won’t then the price goes down.
It becomes even more muddy, because even a statement such as, “precursors may be a little too difficult to obtain” will change future expectations to some degree and thereby affect the market.
When matters because a false shock, that is a misread signal, would affect the market in the wrong direction. Better to wait, make a change (if needed) with minimal commentary and let the market respond.

Not to be off topic but this is one inaccurate statement.
Read a quarter, you probably have on in your pocket. Then return with a new outlook on life.
At this point the price of dust is so high that T5 and T6 mats are becoming uncorrelated. It used to be that T6 mat prices were restricted by T5 prices because you could upconvert T5→T6 at a roughly 5-1 ratio.
However due to the price of dust being so high that is no longer a possibility so T6 just keeps rising while T5 stays roughly the same. Basically the only thing keeping T6 at reasonable prices has been killed off.
