Arena Net has always given a large variety of armor customization options. Some, unique and some not so much. I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 for around half a year, and I’ve noticed a trend in armor.

The most significant trend I’ve noticed is the emphasis on breasts.* Most of the female light armor for norn and humans include super skimpy top armor pieces. This can also be seen with Medium armor, especially the infamous T3 Medium human cultural armor, and not as much, but still existing, heavy armor. I have no complaints against this. Skimpy armor is fine.

The issue I find is, there are no armor pieces for ones rear. I have gone through all the skins for pants in the wardrobe for light, medium and heavy weight classes, only to find two to five pants skins that makes a characters rear stand out. I would like to see a larger variety here in the gemstore, as new drops or event items. If there’s no shame dressing nearly topless, then showing a little bum should never kill anyone either.

I understand that Arena Net armor developers/designers are “breast men” but it never hurt to look at the other end of the rainbow, and give a little to the “buttocks man”.

It is a staple of the fantasy genre. And there are a lot more not as revealing.

Check out the Strider gem store armor skin.

Fella’s 1 piece of rear gear (Strider armor) doesn’t compare to the large amount of cleavage revealing armor Arena Net offers. There should be a balance, no? Light armor literally has none.

2 is not nearly enough. I demand a even ratio, especially for light armor!

I would also like to see more skimpy male gear – particularly for the light class. I think the only skimpy tops are feathered and zodiac (and that nipple-clamp top from that new outfit – though that doesn’t really count cause you can’t mix-n-match skins), and even then, ‘feathered’ specifically, doesn’t show enough skin – those long sleeves ruin it.

Would also like to see some sort of summer/beach gemstore theme with a kasmeer’s bikini skin and a lord faren’s underwear skin.

I understand most men at Anet will be straight, but please think about everyone else – this shouldn’t be a competition to see how many boob-oriented chest armors for females, a game can get away with. And please think about more skimpy male armor for us gay guys and also straight women who want to see a bit more eye candy. It’s not all about the boobs y’know.

Edit: Forgot to mention – the medium class needs more actual top-only chests. Right now it is literally 98% trench coat.

I concur with the OP. Also with Zaoda. This game has a wealth of sets that cover everything, especially below the chest (which is fine!) but the other demographics could use more representation.

The problem I have with skimpy armor is that it is so one-sided. The females get sex gear, the males do not. This sends the message that a female is not to be taken seriously, and that she is only an object to arouse males sexually. It’s a big societal problem, and it isn’t okay.

HOWEVER, in the scenario that males and females are BOTH given skimpy armor equally, then yes, skimpy armor is FINE.

So, if Arenanet releases these “bottom-oriented” armors you want, then I insist they go a step further. Release unisex armor that flashes the backside of MALE CHARACTERS and female characters.

I do agree, male and female characters both need their fair share of skimpy armor. Arena Net needs to learn to swing everyone’s way, rather than just for guys. This is a game with a large diversity of players all with different preferences and it would be appreciated if all their views were given at least some consideration before designing new armor.

The armors only favor Human/Norn/Sylvari- they left Asura & Charr in the dust, why else does everything look the same on these two? Why can’t on a charr it look more ‘Charr’ & rugged that doesn’t ignore their tail & size.

Didn’t you know, fantasy game= scantily cladded females because like that’s soo what everyone wants /sarcasm – fully claded armor isn’t beautiful /sarcasm

Only guys play games so let’s make armor that a man would like to see *rolls eyes

Male characters need more skimpy, less skimpy for females please- more armor that look great on Charr & asura- thanks, I know that’s too impossible a task anet, so lie to us & say ‘It will be looked into/considered’

There are plenty of conservative armors for female characters if you want conservative armor.

Get the Aetherblade Heavy Armor. Sculpted butt armor.

Human female light armor has 46 unique skins (counting things like Feathered and Flamekissed as the same), 21 of which are skimpy (22 if you count the Arah top). Not “super” skimpy, just shows more skin than it covers, shows the bellybutton, or emphasizes cleavage (like the Nightmare Court top).

Human female medium armor also has 46 unique skins, 4 of which are skimpy, but we can bump that up to 11 if we include bare arms (omg) and low cut shirts/vests under the heavy coats.

Human female heavy armor has 44 unique skins, 7 of which can be considered skimpy, make that 9 if you include the Whisper and Vigil tops.

As for norn skins, the only difference would be the cultural armors (6 of 9 are skimpy in this case).

It’s true that light female armor has more skimpy skins than medium and heavy combined, but it’s not “most” by any dictionary definition; you could make the argument that there are too many skimpy high-level and gem store skins, but then you’d be selectively ignoring most of the skins in the game to make an exaggerated claim.

It might be a overstatement, but that’s besides the main point. I have no problems with the armor we have now, skimpy or not. The point is that if Arena Net can make skimpy armor for female characters, then It can also be done for male characters. Also if they can make armor that is near topless, then there shouldn’t be any shame in making armor exposing a little bit of ones rear. (M or F)

Today I bought the Raiment of the Lich outfit for my male elementalist just for the skimpy nipple clamp chest – kinda sad I have to resort to buying a whole outfit just for a skimpy chest but oh well…

I wish I could just have that top as a skin by itself :-( but I will have to make do with the whole outfit until there is a good skimpy chest skin for males by itself. Either that or I should just go shirtless XD will have less armor, but what the hey…
